I could have sworn a Holiday 2003 release date was initially announced. My googling only brings up results for Halo 2 Vista being delayed due to nudity... watYep. They basically restarted Halo 2 halfway through development. I don't remember any other date than the one it had, though.

Jessica has asked me to contribute to a Halo 4 developer diary as a recurring part of our weekly Bulletin. While we wont be able to share secrets that would spoil any of the Carefully Planned Reveals that we have coming down the pipe, we will give you our impressions of some of the work that is going on behind the scenes here at 343. Well also provide our thoughts on anything that we do make public as part of the lead-up to the games launch. I realize that isnt a lot at this stage, and trust me, this is hard for us, too. We are working on so many things that we cant wait to share with you, but patience is in order. Good things come to those who wait. All will be revealed in due time. And assorted other clichés.
Right now the team across 343 is shaking off the last remnants of our turkey-induced stupor and whipping ourselves into fighting shape for the year ahead. Its going to be a huge one. This will be the culmination of a multi-year journey that has already filled several cylindrical space-canisters with delicious blood, sweat and tears. Now were entering the crucial final stretch in which we will ready our baby for release into the wild. Its an exciting time but stressful, too, as we place pressure on ourselves to live up to your expectations. The good news is that the game is already looking great and fun to play. So, as we ready ourselves to give you your first real look at Halo 4 in the months ahead, we can only hope that you, too, will like what you see.

I really hope they're not waiting until E3 to say anything about the game. We saw how successful Halo CE: Anniversary was with a similar publicity strategy...
Halo CEA was never meant to match the sales of Reach or any other mainline title. IIRC, from what Frankie has posted here CEA met (and surpassed) their initial sales target.I really hope they're not waiting until E3 to say anything about the game. I'm getting the feeling they are indeed waiting for e3

Yeah thats not going to happen lol
What I see is a new trailer in Feburary/March with a magazine info blowout in April.
This is tame compared to the Halo 2 days. Surely we have not already forgotten the time when a full YEAR passed without a single bit of info. Those were dark times.

Atleast it's something! Laughed @ Carefully Planned RevealsThis is barely worth posting, but since some of you all (including myself) will take absolutely anything Halo 4 related, here is a short entry by Josh Holmes about 343's progress on Halo 4.
Doesn't microsoft also holds a press event in February for the last few years.
But last year was more a play session maybe this year we will get some reveals dont really think so.
And 343 stop it teasing us...

I knew it was a worhtless bump. I knew it. The wait is unbearable.
I certainly hope so, I fear missing something due to it getting lost in a megathread. If it'll be worthy, it'll be a new thread. Believe.

It's better this way which is similar to how Halo 2 was handled. Halo 3 was shown too much.
anyone else hope that halo4 is a radical departure from previous halo games but sadly know that its fate will most likely be another formulaic halo game?
Crossing fingers for a FIFA-style game myself.anyone else hope that halo4 is a radical departure from previous halo games but sadly know that its fate will most likely be another formulaic halo game?

I'm hoping Halo 4 will have Mass Effect style dialog wheel but I don't think that will happen...

halo anniversary outperformed our expectations and has been doing great business.

what i really want from halo 4: flashback missions that give us more backstory of john (his kidnapping, training on reach, how he got his armor, some missions with linda and the others).
Would to play that one mission actually if im not mistaken their first mission in the novel Fall of reach. where john has to take out a rebel leader if im not mistaken a bit cod in my halo![]()
sure, why not. these missions could mix up the gameplay (different settings, new/different enemies, other abilities/weapons) and story, while giving more (and much needed) backstory to john.
Master Chief's children and early years make for good reading but a potentially shitty game. So when during Master Chief's race to save the universe and fight off ancient evils does he get a chance to reminisce about the good old days?
I think the only departure I really want out of Halo is to take a more open world approach to the campaign, an expansion of the concept of ODST's hub. Though I'm fine with just more Halo, except with different enemies and environments and such.
when he is in cryo. the flashbacks could act as a pretty awesome tutorial before cortana wakes him up. and if they plan to focus the story on john, they should explain his background to the layers that didnt read the books (which should be quite a lot).
Do you remember his first mission? All the sneaking around and... not suitable for a game lack of fun described? And cryo-dreams? Really? Urgh. Just no.

yes X12 should be around February and a Halo 4 trailer would be a good way to make the X events big again. last year we got a Gears of War 3 beta announcement.
and this year a beta announcement for.....
Yup, yup and yup. This is exactly what I am hoping for from Halo 4.
