So I'm trying to order the 16 GB card with a couple of games off of Amazon but I don't see release day shipping. Are they not doing it?

Edit:nvm, I figured it out.

Starter Kit now on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B006PP4136/

Seems like a good value. Not the cool earbuds from Japan though.

super huge pic:

Meh. I like the accessories in the early-bird bundle better. Those headphones are trash, microfiber is a dime a dozen, the early-bird case is nicer (with slots for game cards), and I was personally hoping (maybe stupidly) that Vita wouldn't need a protective film on the screen.

Am I missing something here? The starter kit is $39.99 but if you buy from the Sony Store you get the car adapter too?

The Amazon Starter Kit includes:

4GB Memory Card
Pocket Pouch
Protective Film
Card Case
Headphones
Cleaning Cloth

The Sony Store starter kits includes:

4GB Memory Card
Pocket Pouch
Protective Film
Card Case
Headphones
Cleaning Cloth
Car adapter

The first edition really should come with the film/cloth.

The Sony site you linked says nothing about a memory card. GameStop had the same product listed for a while as well. I think this is outdated information and Sony hasn't updated their own site even though they updated retailers.

In fact the playstation blog listed the Car Adapter as releasing in Spring 2012. Which leads to me to believe that the product isn't ready for launch and the 4 gig memory card was substituted in it's place.

In the end, just order from Amazon. No sales tax.

You're right no memory card. Hmm, that actually might be better for me even with the sales tax since I'm getting the 32 gig stick already. I mainly just want that case, but I'm trying to find out if it zips shut. There aren't any side shots of it.

I want that pack for the case, the wipe and the screen protector.

And that case doesn't zip, the right side pulls over the Vita. It looks like there are two cases that zip being release by Sony in the US. One of them is the one that's include in the "First Edition" bundle. The other is Travel Case.

Nice little video for those interested in Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3. I normally wouldn't play a game like this on console. I enjoyed the PS3 version of Blazblue, but felt the PSP version was better despite the slight downgrade. But damn! UMvC really shows off Vitas sexiness... The wait continues.

Yeah, it's a great port. Have been completely enjoying the import version. No slowdown, fast loading, and the online play is smooth as butter, even with US to Japan matchups.

That looks like the PSPGo USB cable. Same?
I noticed that too... I hope they're the same because I bought a couple extra PSPgo cables when I found some on blowout pricing at $2.99 or something, so if that's the case, I'm set...

No, I believe it's a different one.
And on what evidence, exactly, do you base your belief? Do you own both a PSPgo and a Vita? Have you tried it? Do you know someone who has? Or has Sony said they're different (link)?

Ahem

I've been playing UMvC since launch and it is the best looking fighting game on a portable I have ever played...the only downside is the lack of background motion like the console games, but gameplay, operability and visuals...top notch..

that being said, my copy of Blazblue just game in so I will be going to work on that

I just received an E-mail message about an upcoming live chat focused around Wipeout 2048. The chat will involve Michael Pulst (the game's producer) and other members of the development team.

The message makes reference to this post from the US PlayStation community forums, which in turn points to this link as the page where the chat will take place.

Before anyone asks, as far as I can tell, online play (including cross-platform play with PS3) is still being promoted as a feature for this game.

I had a question about PSN games and Vita. I was wondering if theyre playable on Vita. I mean, can I play Dead Nation on Vita?

No thats a PS3 game.

If a game was made for both then yes.

I'm just about ready to bite the bullet and pre-order a Vita with all of the required accessories. However, I really don't want to repeat the same mistake I did with the 3DS and purchase five games that I never end up playing.

Uncharted seems like it'll be a fun game, but if it's anything like the PS3 games I will beat it in eight hours or so and never play it again. I might just wait until it's available cheaper.

I'm thinking about picking up UMvC3 or Little Big Planet since they both seem like they'll last me a while, but I'm just not sure yet.

If you are/were only picking up one game, which would it be and why?

You should pick up Everybody's Golf. They're great games, great fun, have online multiplayer, and you can lose yourself in them for hours :)

lumines. it's Lumines.

So does this thing have gorilla glass or do we need to get screen protectors? Ive never used a protector on my phone and there is not one scratch on it.

Guys, I want one, I really do, but I am an Xbox gamer. I had a PS3 for about 2 months and got rid of it, that is how much I HATE the dualshock, the postioning of the sticks and the lack of stick resistance made it such an awful pad to use to do anything that required any finesse at all (aiming being the biggest problem.)
With this being said, Microsoft are extremely unlikely to cater to portable gaming like the Vita seems to promise, I really really want one, but I am put off from spending £350 on something I may find too awful to use to actually play games.
Those of you that have actually held one/used one, what does it actually FEEL like to hold and how does the positioning of the sticks feel to your thumbs, do you have to bend your thumbs a lot to get them on the top of the sticks?
This is a serious post, I dont want to start any flaming at all.
Thanks GAF.

Wipeout 2048. Shows off the graphics, good music, has full online play (also with PS3 players), big 'career' mode and possible DLC.

If it's that much of a problem, why don't you check out an in store demo or one of Sony's traveling Vita pit stops?

Where in the UK do you live? Could you make it to any of the Vita rooms destinations? They're going to Manchester Glasgow and London. Could be beneficial to play one yourself rather than depending on others

Anyway with my (admittedly short) playtime with the Vita at Eurogamer last year, i felt that the sticks were really good. Okay they're obviously small and are quite loose compared to what one is used to, and obviously would take some getting used to, but that's to be expected really. The positioning is fine to me, but i am the polar opposite to you in that i can't use a 360 controller - hate the analogue positioning.

Considering Little Big Planet isn't coming out until later in the year, I think your decision is simpler.

Sorry, forgot to mention, I am in the UK, not sure we are getting much in the way of PR or marketing attention.
No Sony stores within 150 miles of home either.

Cant really justify a trip to london to my wife atm, but thanks, I didnt know about those showings.
I wish I could have adjusted to the Dualshock, it would have made this decision easier, but if the sticks are as loose as you say, I really do have my doubts.
I guess I will wait around for more impressions, and try to see if I cant try one out for myself somehow.

Man this is going to be an expensive launch. I have had my wifi version pre-ordered since they first went up on Amazon but checked out the prices of accessories + games earlier today:

PSP Vita Wifi - $249.99
Uncharted - $49.99
Gravity Daze - $39.99
32GB Memory Card - $99.99
Cradle - $20
Case - $20

Total: ~$479.

Almost as much as a home console.

Keep an eye out around your local Game/Gamestation/HMV etc, they might get demo units in if you're lucky

So can I tether off my phone ti use near at all times? That would be sweet
Also does the trophy set from vita integrate into your ps3 profile? Or are they seperate

Yeah good idea, I might go in and quiz the employees of my local(ish) GAME, see if I cant persuade them to let me get my grubby mitts on one, maybe waving the cash under their noses might help.
Thanks for your honesty btw.

I'm really surprised at how much I want Unit 13. I think Zipper is a quality developer, and I'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed the little bit of MAG I played when I was in the beta ages ago, but I was never a big SOCOM fan (the MP).

Unit 13, however, really has me intrigued with it's single player and co-op mission game play. I was really hoping it would release at launch, but my lineup is packed already, what with the PSVita and PSP games I'm snagging (I'll pick up Corpse Party and Gladiator begins off of PSN for $30 total), and I've just decided, after playing the awesome PSN demo, that I'll be snatching up Rayman Origins day one as well (at least, that's the plan).

This is the first time I've ever bought a console/handheld on launch day, so it's kind of a milestone for me, and my hype levels are reaching critical mass! It really sucks that I'm getting my already pre-ordered games and memory card a full week before I get my system on the 15th. That's going to be a cruel 7 days while I wait for my Vita to arrive...
