"All of Yuasa's works are painfully pretentuitous."
Am I using it right?
"Yuasa is pretentuitous" would work too.

I think :cajun rolls off the e-tongue better than hnnnnghophile anyway. How would you even standardize the number of n's in hnnghophile? The closest you'll get to that is :cajun

Are English song titles that are basically sentences pretentious? (see: Fallout Boy or Panic! At The Disco)
I don't think SHAFT ever thought they were doing quality work. All shit anime is pretentious; because they actually created it with the intention that it was quality, how pretentious.
Absolutely, it's a very interesting collection of stories. They aren't all as good as each other, obviously, but it's a strong collection. Is Aoi Bungaku worth watching? It looks intriguing and I need something cool to watch after Trapeze.
Guilty Crown 8-12
RIP Lt. Dan
I'm glad Beta Shu finally got his shit together. Although the twist of his sister and his convenient memory loss felt very rushed and poorly done(Also predictable). I would like more closure between Gai and Mana, many many things are still left unexplained with them at the center.
Conveniently Gai's black trench coat survived the events unscathed, and with Shu/Inori! I predict a time-skip in which Shu don's the trench coat and becomes the bad ass we saw in episode 4.
The closure in episode 12 just didn't feel right. Maybe it was expedient pacing, maybe it was just the poorly done story dialogue, I don't know.
Guilty Crown gets a lot of shit for the writing, some of which is warranted. Guilty Crown shines when it stops trying to copy every other successful anime.
AnimeGAF exploring territories of language heretofore unmapped.
Like a Scout stumbling upon some Ancient Ruins, unlocking the secret to a new technology.
All shit anime is pretentious; because they actually created it with the intention that it was quality, how pretentious.
Maybe, but always obnoxious.
Fairy Tail 45
Gotta say I like the show much more when isn't the Natsu show. Lucy got a good fight with Loki, Juvia was awesome and Kana was crap as usual.
Too bad, it's back to the Natsu show next episode.
I am not trying to get you to watch something terrible,I don't know whether to interpret this positively or negatively.
edit: It would be interesting to see a GAF list of what they consider to be pretentious anime. The only one that ever comes to mind for me is Ergo Proxy, as I mentioned.
what is pretentious about Ergo Proxy?
I think the most "pretentious" thing about Ergo Proxy is the writer actually think it's intelligently written and we are all idiots for understandably finding it boring or something.

It's a shame that whenever Lucy is in the show she'll inevitably have to open her mouth and the sounds that will come out are like nails on a chalkboard attached to a cat being strangled by a banshee, to my ears.
It's a word that can be taken off the internet as a whole!::adds "pretentious" to list of words not to mention here, next to EVA and K-ON and some others I don't remember::
Pretentious? Hah, we're the BEST GODDAMNED FUCKING place on the internet.
But I can keep hipster right? I wouldn't know what I would do without "hipster".
CONTROVERSY: Do pretentious and :moncole go hand in hand?
what is pretentious about Ergo Proxy?
And why does the girl look like the one from Evanescence?
This episode seemed to be heavily related to Social Constructionism especially when Ergo Proxy was talking. Not to mention, there is a ton of symbolism and external references throughout this entire episode. One of the biggest references in this episode besides the two I mentioned already is the bookstore owner quoting Jean Jacques Rousseaus On the Origin of Languag. Another one is quarter-power scaling in reference to Vincents changing pulse and as well as Ergo Proxys. Needless to say, I could go on about the symbolism and references in this episode for quite awhile, but I would much rather hear what other people have to think first.
Most of the time isn't used to judge the person itself (as normally we don't personally know them), as it is most notably used to (likely) point a disconnection between an extremely elaborated point of view and the emptiness of its proclaimed message in the eyes of the spectators. It is more a problem in reaching them accordingly.I still dont understand how anime can be pretetious, or how someone knows when something is being specifically pretentious.
The latter is carried about like a badge of pride, though.CONTROVERSY: Do pretentious and :moncole go hand in hand?
Every story was done by a different production team. Even if its take on Ningen Shikkaku isn't to your liking, you should check out the rest.I only watched the first short story.
It's very pretentious.
I didn't know Aya Hirano got replaced by Chiaki Omigawaah.

Monocles generally aren't pretentious because they tend to be correct in all forms. Pretentious has more in common with the term "posuer" or "fake monocle"

I liked it, but during the season it aired I must've forgotten about it for other more :cajun things.Every story was done by a different production team. Even if its take on Ningen Shikkaku isn't to your liking, you should check out the rest.

pretentious (comparative more pretentious, superlative most pretentious)
1. Marked by an unwarranted claim to importance or distinction. Their song titles are pretentious in the context of their basic lyrics.
2. Ostentatious; intended to impress others. Her dress was obviously more pretentious than comfortable.
