My article on the full game. It's amazing.
And what about load times? ^_^

That's pretty much exactly why. Also the fact demo-code is largely throw-away work, so noone wants to invest any significant amount of time into it.StuBurns said:I can't imagine it's just because the game isn't finished yet.
That seems to be Takao's MO these days.
That's just sad, Takao. If you're going to go into fanboy defence mode, at least do your homework first. 11 seconds vs 38 seconds. Whist neither are ideal that's not even with the same ballpark.
I edited my post. They're still lengthy, yes.
Yeah, I figured after reading on. Didn't Studio Liverpool get some crazy weird scaling (horizontal lines were 1080p but scaled vertical) on the PS3 version to maintain performance at 60fps while still displaying in 1080p? Looked amazing whatever they did.I think he means the latter.
Yeah, just watched that video. That's a LOT of stuff to load though.wipeout loading times are looooooooooooooooooong
How long is "lengthy"?
You've got some miracle-eyes there given that Youtube-vids can't be 60fps.ehhh the difference in framerate from HD/Fury is really noticeable for me. This game looks choppy and slow in comparison.
the demo just bummed me in the gob.

Looks beautiful.GAFer twentytwo22 has posted a video of WipEout 2048

Faithful to the original Wipeout, I see.its a 38 second load time
What about 60FPS? I don't see "only 30FPS" in the negative section.
Restart isn't instant but the loading time is MUCH faster than when running the race for the first time.Wipeout 2048 is looking amazing (those post-process effects...daamn). The load times are a bit of a concern. Although I won't have an issue with them as long as the 'restart race' option is instant once the race event is loaded. Can anyone confirm that this is the case in the demo?
Kudos to Studio Liverpool for bringing such a top tier title to the Vita for launch. Classy effort guys.
Perhaps the demo is highly compressed to decrease the download size?Wow, that load time is ridiculous. 38 second. How is that even possible on solid state media?

I mean, have you seen Hard Corps Uprising on XBOX360? The load times between levels literally take upwards of 90 seconds from HDD. The PS3 version, which has a larger file size, loads in just 20-25 seconds. It's clearly the result of aggressive compression.
Would hope to see the same thing with Wipeout, but I'm definitely concerned.
Loading on restart is around 16-17 seconds, but it's kind of weird - it goes up to 94% in about 8 seconds, stays there for ~6 seconds and then goes to 100%.Brilliant, cheers for that. Bring on February
Yeah, it was a complaint in one of the reviews.Apparently Famitsu have confirmed that the load times are long in the final version as well.
If load times are that long they should really put a mini-game on the loading screen.

Which layout are you using? Wipeout or Racer? The load times are Modnation Racers bad but I think that the biggest problem is vita's face buttons layout. Even with my small Japanese hands, it's a bit hard to operate. I did only two races but my thumbs are hurting now...How can you the gigantic western vita owners manage this?
DMC3 had fun loading screens and Bayonetta let you do train your moves. Being able to rotate the camera around a 3D vehicle would be good enough.Supposedly Namco has a patent on that or some bullshit. I remember reading about it a while back, and why Dragonball Z games and the like seem to be the only games with Loading mini-games.

Since the default is Racer, I think not. Plus aside from having only square to do that fancy turns, it really isn't that bad.Wipeout. Everybody uses that layout, right?
I know. But it's hard to perform a side sift with that layout. This action isn't useful in this demo though.Since the default is Racer, I think not. Plus aside from having only square to do that fancy turns, it really isn't that bad.
Native res? Seems like it. Looks absolutely gorgeous!
I think the resolution changes on the fly depending on what's going on. If there's a load of missiles flying and stuff, it looks lower, although that might just be the smoke effects.
Holy crap @ those screenshots
Gacha-pin: How do the Vita buttons compare size-wise to the NDS/XL face buttons? Do you find those comfortable / uncomfortable as well?
Is the left analogue thumbstick comfortable enough to use with the left index finger kept over the left shoulder button (for airbraking)? I had lots of issues with that on the PSP and had to stick to using the d-pad for ship control as my index finger wouldn't comfortably stretch to the shoulder button while I was using the analogue nub.
I got to play Wipeout 2048 today at the Playstation Access Tour in Manchester on Deansgate.
It was a 'trial version' and you could race on four different tracks. The visuals are great but I was a little disappointed by the framerate.
I know its 30fps and everyone says its butter smooth but it felt like it was averaging 25fps and I could especially feel slowdown when I was racing up close with more than one ship.
Could it be that physical copy of the game comes uncompressed and psn one compressed and the have different loading times?
If it's the one with four tracks on a white screen (they're arranged in a grid in the lower left) then it's the E3 demo and massively outdated. Trust me, the final game is MUCH better. Resolution is better, frame rate is better.

(load times are still length in the final game, btw)
Yes that was the one I played. Faith restored. Thank you.
Oh, I agree, but the majority of the games in the series are not 60 fps. Only HD, Fury, and Fusion.Being a huge fan of wipeout since the first one on the PS, I was extremely excited about this game until I learned that it's not 60fps like HD on the ps3. Seems like a big step backwards because it really added to the feel of the game imo.
After spending months with HD and Fury, wipeout really needs to be 60fps going forward.
