Seriously though the episodic structure sounds disappointing. One of the reasons RE 5 didn't have the same impact was because of the pacing. In Resident Evil 4 it added a lot more tension that Leon spent so much time in the elaborate village, castle and military island. It made it creepy finding hidden tunnels and shafts connecting areas.
Resident Evil: Code Veronica probably had the best example of this in the series, with so many alternate routes through Rockfort Island and a great sense of isolation with mostly one character on their own at a time, although it's not surprising this type of structure isn't being revisited in this generation.
