Resident Evil Requiem | Gamescom Trailer

Capcom has been putting amazing Resident Evil games back to back.

So it is natural people starts complaining about every minute details not tailored to perfection, this is the result of high expectations from a company you KNOW is putting its all behind it.

I think criticism is fair here. They might not be necessarily "putting their all behind it" when they have more than one team working on the series. This looks like the Village team or director has their hands all over it. Village was mid so I think it's fair to be scrutinous or at least voice disappointment knowing that Capcom certainly isn't going to change course.

Completely agree. You have to remember this is the same capcom that somehow botched the release of Monster Hunter and Dragons Dogma. After this trailer, I'm not too optimistic they 'have the goods'. Wouldn't be surprised if this got delayed.

Yeah, good point. Maybe they've been a little "too productive" the past few years. I'm starting to get the quantity vs. quality vibe from their output. It doesn't feel like they're taking any of their IPs seriously because they're doing too many at once.

Maybe it's fucked up to say but I kind of wish someone else had the Resi IP. I don't know who but I think it's clear that Capcom can't really get away from itself when they say they're closing a chapter and starting the next.

Awful showing. Boring and bland character designs, as usual from hyper Western focused modern Capcom. No gameplay shown, the area that Capcom still shines, but at least the graphics look good. Unfortunately, stellar graphics alone do not create an enjoyable player experience. This will probably end up being a skip for me personally. I hope Onimusha: Way of the Sword is atleast decent, but modern Capcom just isn't the same publisher I grew up with, so I won't get my hopes up.

Half agree.

Capcom has been putting out amazing RE games. And this trailer was mediocre.

Both these statements can be true at the same time. The trailer is not likely a representative of the final game, but we're talking about the trailer itself.

That trailer was so ass. The older Resident Evils with the iconic, badass characters and zombies were so much better, and the remakes prove this.

Always prefer Hunters, Tyrants, zombies, lickers, over the plaga, javo, molded, and lycan from the later games. Will most likely be more hyped for a RE1 Remake or CV Remake over RE9. But I did enjoy Village and got a feeling that RE9 would be even better than Village so still looking forward to RE9 a lot.

We just came from two of the greatest RE games ever and you lot are shitting your nappies at a hint of a story being shown.

If you say so. Resident Evil VII was enjoyable, but was far from amazing. Especially after the first quarter or third of it, straight downhill. I started Village, but supernatural nonsense that I really don't like in my RE. I put it down, though one day I do hope to finish it up.

Also don't like first person in my RE, though I do like first person in general. Not the direction I'd like to see the series in particular go.

Which is why this game has 3rd person mode as well.

While that is true, it doesn't mean that both modes will be as enjoyable to play or be given an equal design consideration. I can't think of any game off the top of my head that plays just as well in either mode, typically one takes a back seat in terms of how the experience is designed. Hopefully I'm incorrect with my concern.

Unlike the 3rd person update in RE8 which felt afterthought, this game being design with both mode in mind.

VII and Village added more gore, which I felt made everything feel dark and dreadful. I'm hoping this does the same thing except focus more on the special ops of combatting the virus. I'm not going to watch the entire trailer. From the impressions here, it might discourage the entire game, and that might not be what the final product is like.

Again, I can't think of any games off the top of my head that feel great and as if they were designed with both perspectives in mind equally. I am glad you are optimistic about this and hope you are correct in your assessment.

We just have to see but from footage so far the 3rd person looks great with good animation.

Terrible dialogue and unbelievably bad facial expressions. At least 'jill sandwich' was charming in a way. 'mom I'm scared'?

This is what RE has become?

This is not what RE has "become" this is what RE always was and is.
Exactly! to me in horror game the less you know the better.

...sometimes. I'm not saying I want all the story revealed or something, but this is just a bad trailer and gives us little details about the actual gameplay of the game. They can still withhold context and still show a gameplay heavy trailer that gives us more of an indication of where they're going with the actual game functionally. My problem with the Resident Evil series is they seem to think we give a shit about the details regarding the story like they seem to love smelling their own farts lol

I like the property a lot but the story is just terrible in most of the series even as somebody that's played every one of the games I think it's weird they think we're going to fucking care about 1 of the random characters from Outbreak as if the details of the stuff they're saying here is supposed to be deep or intriguing to any of us.

This is simply a bad trailer that assumes people care that much about the shit that goes on in that world to think they could just casually show those characters like we're going to know where the fuck they came from.... No one's replaying Outbreak that many times and nobody's talking about that game so much that just showing this is going to make us know who the fuck they're talking about.

It's wildly arrogant and assumes anyone really really cares that much about this to then show such a trailer. I think they may be need to humble themselves just a little bit give a slight bit of back story to this characters mother from Outbreak and show a trailer that shows functional things going on like the bigger picture regarding some sort of zombie outbreak.

All i'm asking, overview, bigger picture, main idea.

This wildly over pretentious melodramatic junk is more funny and cringe than it is intriguing, I say this as someone who is buying it day 1 btw, I agree with most of the comments, this is a bad trailer.

Wtf is this shit? THIS is what RE turned into? Gen z retarded crap?

What's next? "Press F to pay respects to dad"?

I already said during the first trailer that this looked unimpressive to me as a huge RE fan but people were going batshit crazy over that one for whatever reason but this one is somehow even worse lmao WTF is Capcom doing. Silent Hill F in comparisson looks so much more interesting than whatever the hell this thing is.

Ah yes,I remember the panic attacks of Leon,Jill,Chris,Ada etc. They were staples of the franchise...

Not even fricking Sherry had a panic attack and she was half this gen z mc impostor's age.

I also remember the countless sections where Leon had to follow the president as a gameplay section in RE4. Those were memorable and staples of the RE franchise...good times.

Feel like way too many people are jumping to conclusions and passing judgement on a game that we've seen 1% of. Yeah it was a poor choice for a trailer, that much is agreed. Is the game going to be awful now? Maybe wait til we start seeing the meat of the game later in the year.

You notice how every horror games are obsessed with doing the cliched random phone call. It's like a staple in every horror game. 🤣

I remember Barry having a panic attack when they entered the mansion for the first time and breaking down in tears... Give me a break.

...um...I'm talking about the story being bad in general, like the acting and fake drama.

Rest assured, folks. Don't forget that this is the most expensive RE yet! Lol

Fuck you once again Keighley for wasting 2 hours of my life waiting for just a weak ass trailer that showed us nothing.

Yeah but they played like b movies not teenage dramas. There's a difference.
Not really, shit is shit. Its always had a bad story, bad acting, cringe scenes and this is no different.

As someone thats played the whole series since release, this is very much in line with how RE's story, acting etc goes.

Thats not some massive "difference" lol

I think this is one of the most frustrating trailers I've ever seen. Honestly, they should've gone radio silent till December for the game awards and showed us something with far more action.
