Travelling over the world?

oh oh

Probably the most worrying thing so far, even with the idea of forced co-op.

A horror game should be set in one well crafted area with a good sense of progression. Like, say, oh I don't know, Resident Evil 4!

Remember the awesome first RE5 trailer with Chris punchin' some zombies?

Made me so hype.

When the number was closer to a real swarm of enemies instead of the same number of enemies on screen as RE4?

Yeah.

is re5 worth playing by myself? I've got a copy, but no co-op partner. Is it worth it?

I'd say yes, is still a decent single player experience, just need a bit of care managing the A.I and giving her the aproppiate weapons, (is deadly with a sniper rifle for example).

The problem is that compared to RE4 it was an inferior experience, but that's partly beacuse RE4 is one of the best games ever, RE5 had a very high bar to surpass.

barbaric hordes of black people wielding spears and with bone piercings in their noses

Which part of RE5 is that? I must have skipped right over it.

Most of the enemies were wearing normal shit or military gear. The occasional tribal themed enemies were rare and on specific levels, and no more out of place than the actual hordes of Spanish inquisitors and other European medieval oddities in RE4. If you don't think there's going to be enemies in RE6 that draw from some dark period in Asia's past then you're kidding yourself.

Mercs was the only thing I enjoyed in RE5. Capcom could just release a separate Mercs game for the consoles. I'd probably cave.

That was just the gatling gun Ganado from RE4 with a cigar.

Also I actually said "Are you kidding me" when I got to the part where Majinis had AK-47s and RPGs and I was pressing a button to get behind cover.

I first had it when I entered a Tomb Raider level and sunbeam lasers. Then again with the mirrors puzzle. And finally with the AK's. The conveyor belt was pathetic.

RE4 became kinda terrible during the last chapter. RE5 continued that.

Please please be like RE5 and that Capcom just ignored all the complainers. I want tank controls and amazing mercenaries coop gameplay.

Actually, I don't care too much about the whole story mode thing. Just give me coop mercenaries with similar gameplay.

Co-op Mercs was my favorite thing about RE5. Really want it in this game too.

Get that crazy talk out of here!

Mikami. </3 </3 :( :( :(

both are terrible.

Nah, if anything, the only enemies in RE5 that were actually fun to fight against were the ones that were cloned from RE4 enemies (not counting the mounted-turret fight against the El Gigante clone, which sucked).

The Big Man Majinis, flying Plagas, bug dudes with white weak spots, and pretty much every single boss fight were all really dull. Compare that with RE4's Garradors or Novistadors.

I think Wesker's death was the most ultimate cop out ever and he's back in 6 with his death explained as being a 'clone' or a 'brother' or 'not the real Wesker' or something like that.

We don't really know how the locations are organized. Maybe the Leon scenario starts in a single location in China, while the Chris scenario starts in a single location in Canada, and the two meet somewhere in the middle halfway through the game. Who knows?

Knowing that this is Capcom, I would normally assume that a fall release date = delay to January, but they are very specific about the date in the marketing materials.

I have no doubt that it will be ported to Wii U and PC eventually. This is Capcom after all.

it's not episodic. it's three campaigns that you can tackle in whatever order you want, from the sounds of things. sort of like AVP.
It sounds to me it'll be like short separate levels in different parts of the world, except globally instead of Africa or more connected like the games before 5. That's what I mean by episodic.

Did you say it four years prior when ganados had guns and RPGs and you pressed a button to get Leon behind cover?

I can't remember any section of RE4 that was equivalent to the shooter parts of RE5 towards the end. Some enemies had crossbows and I recall a miniboss with a chain gun, but that's a far cry from what we're talking about.

If you don't mind a permanent companion that behaves like a robot, it's a pretty alright game even in singleplayer. Except for one boss fight towards the end that is an absolute pain on higher difficulties and downright broken..

I thought the african aboriginals were pretty interesting but other than that, yeah, you're right...

There were a few with RPGs (none with assault rifles or guns except for the Gatling Gun ones which were minibosses, though I guess crossbows kind of count), and a handful of "get behind this screen" (though I can't remember more than two or three moments), whereas there was this whole segment in RE5 where you're walking down a corridor filled with chest-high walls and protruding corners that are all sticky cover and the Majini all have assault rifles and are popping out and shooting. It got wayyyy too similar, visually and gameplay wise, to a military TPS.

There are like three or four moments in RE4 where you're capable of pushing a button to take cover, and those are all to defend against enemies with dynamite. None of them have any overlap with JJs or enemies using mounted guns, none of them have any overlap with enemies using RPGs, and none of the Ganados were just walking around carrying AK-47s.

"Oh him? You'd really think I'd inject myself with Uroboros?"

"Ha! Poor performance indeed"

Fall 2012 is going to be such a mess. Everyone trying to get their current games out before next-gen really begins and if MS is feeling adventureous next-gen will begin as soon as this fall. I'm calling it now, the industry is going to explode.

The new xbox isn`t coming this year. Thats pretty clear now with Resident Evil 6 coming to the 360 and ps3 this christmas. No way such a big franchise is releasing alongside a new console lunch. It´s disappointing but a reality now.

Cool. Tighten up the gameplay controls, and actually attempt horror this time, and I'm all aboard.

RE5 was a cool co op game, but it was not up to par on what I had expected after Dead Space this generation. I feel Dead Space 2 is the bar right now for horror meets action, and I feel Dead Space 1 is the bar right now this generation for a focus on strictly horror.

If they can lean more towards a Dead Space 1 approach to narrative and atmosphere, and still retain solid gameplay and action like DS2 did, then they will win more people back over.

I'm sure they'll announce a Wii U version at E3.

If not, Nintendo done goofed.

Also, from the sounds of it, we might be getting story A and B, with the two intertwining at certain points. Just like the old games. YESYESYESYES

As long as there's no mandatory co op, I'm hyped.
