The Knight in the Area 3

Maybe the manga's better but this just comes across as feeling rather cheap and corny. Plus that scene at the end with
the Ball magically stopping the car
was fucking dumb as shit. I don't know if I'll continue to watch this.

That scene was the only part of the episode that really bugged me. It wasn't in the manga at all, and felt pretty out of place given the tone of the series. The best for this series is definitely yet to come, though. I'm really looking forward to seeing some of the upcoming stuff animated.

Anne of Green Gables 47

Now this is how you execute emotional drama.
This must be one of the greatest death episodes in all of anime. The now empty remainders of Matthew's life, that last smile as he walks away forever... my heart is broken.

roundcats <3

Rektash got through 90 episodes in 4 days. It's doable.

I sure as hell wouldn't attempt it.
damn, that's some hardcore poopsocking...

I'll probably end up watching another ep or two and see if it gets any better before dropping it. Hopefully they don't pull any more shit like they did at the end but you never know. :(

[Nisemonogatari 3 - More]

I think I appreciate this scene the most - because it was unlike all the other interactions in the show. Slow, weighty, thoughtful and with a male as opposed to a member of the harem. I suppose one might criticize the extreme use of colour but as the the actual 'world' of the '-gatari' universe is so ill-defined I don't find abstractions to be particularly bothersome.

Of course, this sequence was pretty amazing in it's own way (more eyeball shots!)

nise34s.png

This was the best scene of this series so far and arguably close to the best scene in either series.

Also, this is the third time I started trying to count the Shaft headtilts and the third time that I gave up before the halfway mark.

Uhh, guys... didn't the car
stop because the driver hit the brakes due to being startled by the ball hitting his windshield?
That's what I thought happened.

Saint Seiya: Hades Sanctuary 7-9

If the 108 douchebags are supposed to be so much stronger than the Gold Saints, why are they still getting their asses kicked?

Another Dimension looks awesome with more modern art/animation.

The only issue with Shellinford (and also
Aria Holmes Kanzaki
) is that they're only descendents of the great detective himself, not interpretations of him :P

And speaking of Milky Holmes, episode 2 was pretty awesome. But mercy on their souls if they are seriously going with the "Oh my gosh, we gotta find our Toys!" plot again.

Maria Holic 4 - So much stylish visuals... it works though, as does a lot of the humor -- this show is pretty funny stuff. :)

It's strange, but I've come to the conclusion that Last Exile Fam Fan Fan edition is essentially an inferior version of Sora no Woto by virtue of just having way too many talking heads and cartoonishly evil villains with very thin motivations. Maybe the original Last Exile was like this as well? I dunno, it seems like an interesting world and I always appreciate the "Lower Decks" approach to science fiction war stories (since generals playing around with toys on sand tables almost always sucks), but giving time to the villains just drags the story to a halt.

Of course, now that I think about it, aren't the classic animu space operas written around the same mold? I'm starting to get Tytania flashbacks...

Sora no Woto? Really? I don't see too much of that in Last Exile Fam... it's a pretty different kind of show. I do agree that it spends too much time on the villains and their lacking motivations, though, though yes, that is common for space opera animes as well.

The original series was somewhat similar, but I think it spent a bit less time with the enemies, and they (the Guild) were somewhat more mysterious than these villains seem to be.

For the record, Samurai Champloo > Cowboy Bebop. The cool cats will agree with me.

I agree, Samurai Champloo is the better of those two series.

I would say loli holmes is the winner
Maybe so... though her standard anime main character idiocy does hurt her some, she's certainly funnier than the others of course. Also, the image uses colors other than grey and brown. :)

I guess what I was trying to get at is that consent is a reaction of some kind, she didn't react to anything at all and he took it the wrong way, simple as.

Right. No reaction at all is in absolutely no way consent.

So, how about if we substitute Shellingford with, I don't know... Kanzaki H. Aria?
You could, they are both Holmes, but Milky Holmes is the better show, so I at least wouldn't. :)

Yeah I was kind of disappointed by that, hopefully they don't just save it for the last ep again(although that last episode of the first season had some pretty cool sakuga going on).

Katte Ni Kaizo 1-3

Naked guys with their dicks in glass bottles with goldfish in the bottles held hostage so you cant kick them in the dick.

That's true, it might be interesting to see an anime interpretation of Holmes who's actually in Victorian England, and not modern Japan.

It's good that it sounds like the episode is better than the first one at least, even if they are sticking with that annoying reset.

But Aria is a kugiloli.

So? Aria is a stupid but sometimes amusing harem/action show, while Milky Holmes is an often genuinely funny comedy. I know which one's the better show, and it's not Aria.

I assume their reasoning is that if they get their powers back, how would they stick with the central comic focus of the show, which is about how tough the girls have it? So they can't permanently get their powers back because that'd sabotage the setup. But still, they way they've done it is annoying, yes.

Symphogear 3

Not exactly an expert on the genre, but this has the best magical girl transformation sequence I have ever seen.

Nice to see heartless face back. I still can't tell if it's metaphorical or literally a separate form. Promise of it showing up again will keep me watching. Think I can safely say this will be the 2nd non-parody magical girl series that I actually like.

I didn't watch Milky Holmes so i'm trying to pretend that having a kugiloli makes everything better.

Seriously though, should I watch Milky Holmes?

Glass Fleet 2

Space Pirates? Awesome.
Space Pope? Awesome.
This guy?
pM26N.gif

Awesome.
Costume designs are atrocious though.

Arjuna 2

I can't help but think this would be better without the giant worms. What the hell is up with that wheelchair descent and drive too?

Princess Tutu 25-26

Well, between the infamous 'what I watched' image and Dr. Forester confirming its accuracy, I gave Tutu a shot. These last two eps were incredible. Manly tears were shed and I was entirely engrossed in the viewing rather than checking time remaining unlike some shows.
Seeing Mytho as his true self was a treat as was watching Fakir rescue Ahiru from the lake.

Entire series was fabulous and it went out on such a high note. Great use of music, fantastic characters, and changing episode motifs that didn't wear out their welcome
i.e. Tutu recovering heart shards or Mytho trying to steal hearts
kept the show so fresh.

No way. The costume designs are the best part. They are truly spectacular in their garish and expressionistic design.

The hats I'll give you, the epaulettes are right out though. While it may have been something brushlike in attempt, I'm pretty sure one guy was wearing hay in execution.

That scene didn't hold a candle to
crazy ball physics stopping a car from running over a kid.

But I understand if you tried to blank it out of your mind.
Oh yeah, that was stupid, but for a variety of reasons.
The shrink scene was just... awkward, because it foreshadows something that is painfully obvious and is tonally dissonant from the rest of the scene/episode. I mean, she's basically trolling Seven, for no good reason.

Unless, it turns out that she had a thing for the brother and it's some weird psycho jealousy thing. Whee.

You don't think it's like SnW? Basically girls trying to live in this post-apocalyptic world and do their own thing. Learning music and trying to stop a war in one, flying vanships and trying to stop a war in the other. It's just SnW stayed with the girls who and didn't bother with the politics of Rome or wherever.

Although, I suppose if they cut all that stuff, the show would be much shorter than it is.

Cumberbatch should just voice loli-Sherlock. Best Sherlock ever.

Ashita no Joe 2:
Great stuff. Joe is a pretty fascinating character right now, he's kind of a jerk, but a bit likable at the same time, and his antics in this episode were pretty amusing. Tange is a pretty awesome dude from what I've seen so far. The background on him in this episode was pretty well done.

Inu x Boku SS 2

Less drama between the loli and the sparkling bishonen and focus more on the rest of the characters of the mansion and whatever supernatural thing is going on would make this show a lot better.
Besides that, the first half was dull shopping, while the second was decent.

They could also turn this show into a lesson about Japanese demons and mythology and I would watch it too.

Just to be on the safe side, I'm going to make good use of the spoiler bar because sometimes I'm unsure if a certain event would constitute as a spoiler or not.

I'm going to be starting the new season when I get some other older episodes out of the way.

Chihaya Full 12-15

Good episodes.
Shinobu is a mysterious character. She has resentment towards Chihaya for taking cards away from her. I also feel like her snowman shirt is a plot device.

Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock

Animation was well done. I wish it had lasted longer.

Fate/Zero 13

I enjoyed the
character interaction between Rider and his master. Saber, Lancer, and Rider take on Caster on the next episode.
Should be a good one.

Future Diary 12-13

In episode 13, I liked how the
role of the main character changed to Aru. He was sort of seen as the leader of the group of people looking for Yuki and Yuno. Speaking of, Yuno has lost her sanity once again. I think Yuki needs to deal with her sooner rather than later.

Guilty Crown 11-12

You know, I was down on this series throughout the episodes before this point, but I think I'm starting to come around on it. It's at least entertaining me more than Sacred Seven ever could. Undoubtedly not a popular opinion here, but I stand by my stance.
I thought it was cool how when Shu and Gai were children, it was Shu who was strong and brave and Gai was the weak and fearful one. Then after Lost Christmas happened, Gai swore to himself to get stronger, and Shu lost his memory, becoming helpless. Their roles were reversed.

Gundam Age 12-14

Desil killed Yurin. :(

Hunter x Hunter 12-13

The
jester character
is creepy.

Phi Brain: Puzzle of God 12-14

I didn't anticipate that
Rook would have visited Kaito at his school and present himself as a kindhearted person. So soon at least. The puzzle in the tower was cool. Rook is prepping Kaito for the Divine puzzle, even if that means using unorthodox measures. Gonna be interesting to see what the Count is like.

Anne of Green Gables 50

God's in his heaven, all's right with the world.

Fulfilling conclusion to a fantastic show. The limits of its budget show, mostly in inconsistent animation, and I wish it had been about three episodes shorter and removed the weakest padding. But those are minor complaints. The novel is a timeless classic, and Takahata did it justice. He portrays the characters and events with a sensitive and sympathetic eye that draws out their emotional power without going overboard into exaggerated sentimentality. Some incidents that were only briefly described are appropriately fleshed out for a visual medium, and most of the new ones inserted are in keeping with the spirit of the book. The art is beautiful throughout, and it's easy to see why countless Japanese have been inspired by this to visit Prince Edward Island. In the end, Anne of Green Gables turns out to be both more grounded and have a wider scope than just about any other anime show.

Now that this has whetted my appetite, it's time to watch everything else Isao Takahata did that I haven't seen yet. Should be fun times ahead.

Dragon Quest Saga: The Crest of Roto

Well, this was cute, even if it didn't really have anything to do with Dragon Quest mostly. Basically a tie-in OVA movie to make a little more money on the name. I mean, yeah there's a super-fast cameo of slimes from behind and the boy has the Crest of Roto, but other than that this is basically just a story of a character growing up from being a whiny "coward" to a silent protagonist. :-P Seriously by the end when he's all brave and stuff he stops speaking! At least they got that part right with the game. ^^ A charming, decently animated little children's flick. And thankfully short too, but also completely insubstantial.

Black Lion

I was told to watch this dubbed and I have no regrets. Nonsensical plot, over the top gore, and ninjas. You'd think this would be impossible to screw up and you'd be right. The dub was a cross of some bizarre fandub, a reading of fanfiction akin to Full Life Consequences, and MST3K. This is some sort of national treasure. Of what country? I couldn't say.

Also this ties in with the Arjuna ep I watched today as I just shook my head at
nuclear powered robot ninja
Jinnai knowing a safer more planet friendly power source should have been used.
