Not defending the ridiculously defensive attitude conservatives have for people who make money simply by where they put their money, but if a person works with heavy machinery and/or dangerous equipment I would rather that person not work that day than work while inebriated or stoned, even if they got paid for that day regardless.
And just so we are clear I am not saying those guys in the youtube video necessarily worked with heavy machinery. I know they were auto workers but I would need to know more about their work before I can make a statement about them specifically.

I don't think she's there because Steve died. She's very accomplished, but posters like you will dwarf anything she's done because you don't like her deceased husband.
There are no absolute rules in conversation, let alone on GAF. How does one define when someone else is being "a dick?" Because being "a dick" is bannable on GAF. How would we even begin to apply absolute, strict guidelines to that?
Just as in real life, every case is different -- this is precisely why we have juries, because even real, legally accepted laws are not absolute and need to be intrepeted on a case by case basis. Context matters, posting history matters (just like a racist friend is more likely serious when he says something racist, while a very progressive friend dating a black woman is much less likely to be serious), word choice matters, obscurity of reference matters.
If you want simple examples, it's okay to post a "haters gonna hate" GIF in the "post funny GIFs thread," because that's the entire purpose of the thread. It is absolutely bannable in many other contexts, because we have deemed it unconstructive and antagonistic.
There are lots of variables, and it is the job of the moderators to weigh each of them and decide. Our purpose is to make discussion more reasonable, constructive, and interesting. Offensive content is less offensive if it is backed by reason and evidence.

On a side note, Chris Christie is going to veto the approval of gay marriage in NJ if it makes it to his desk. His reasoning, its too big of a decision, it needs to be a constitutional amendement. I'm failing to see where in the NJ constitution marriage is distinguished as between a man and a woman

Speaking of which, I thought it was really odd that Newt, when taking about his accomplishments at the Florida debate, listed "working with a Democratic president" as one of them. He can't go two seconds in a debate without shifting the discussion towards how bad of a job he thinks Obama is doing.

Predictably, Mitt again propagated the conventional fallacy that expanding the Afghan military is the key to success in Afghanistan; a task that is becoming increasingly difficult as tensions exacerbate an already acrimonious relationship. But during his rather insipid answer, he completely ignored the existence of the Afghan government. This may be petty. But that really irked me.

Perhaps Romney was banking on that? Or was it a fortuitous development? Regardless, I imagine an attack by Obama would benefit him in the primaries. It may even compel the other candidates to defend him lest they appear as Obama acolytes.

There are hundreds of years of tradition of marriage being between a man and woman. Both in law, and in socio-religion.
The "both" is IMO more important than the punctuation, however, the use of the comma reinforces his message that the two separate entities religion and society are bound together as one.
