Ah I see, thanks for the answer. I'll definitely start going back to "older" performance hungry games like gta 4 when I get my new cards.

Why skip the option for better textures? As Eatchildren has shown, the difference is extremely noticable and a huge improvement on the console-like port of ME2. If you think the wait is too long, you can easily alt+tab while ME2 loads (as indicated by its increasing memory usage when starting up the game) and surf the net, talk to your loved ones, or think about the deep questions of life.

But if TextMod doesn't work with the Steam version Mass Effect 2, what can I do?
If were just for the 5-10 minutes waiting I would already modded the game.

GTAIV ENB has some purty natural lighting on those cars. Kinda funny how long Turn 10 struggled with that and the ENB guy seems to pull it off just like that. :p

SWTOR has some great environments.

Probably my favourite shot in the whole thread. Great moment in the game as well.

Can't you just take the Steam key and apply it to Origin and d/l it from there?
I don't know if it's possibile (use the mod with the Origin version, not use the Steam key on Origin).
But anyway I'm not dying just because I can't have 2096x2096 texture on my game, normal texture will do fine. :)

Darkness II demo, seems like a great console game. Feels very odd on the pc with kb & m - should try it out with 360 pad but right now the demo is totally messed up for me.

Probably the most narrow FOV I've encountered in a big budget game on the pc in ages. I'm sure it will be adjustable on .ini level. Or so I hope....

Corky just shot himself in the foot. I don't know how much you know about games and demo culture, but I'm an expert.

Anyway, probably my last set of Underworld shots:

I used texmod with the Steam version of ME2.

From the BW forums:

Trouble shooting:

A) Steam causes problems with texmod. To get it to work with Steam, follow these steps:
1. Move TexMod to the Binaries folder.
2. Rename MassEffect2.exe to MassEffect2Bak.exe.
3. Rename Texmod.exe to MassEffect2.exe
Special thx to forumite "TheScruple" for this solution.

Not a bad looking game. Can't force AA through the drivers on ATI though, makes everything irridescent yellow.

it looks awesome for a game that's nearly five years old, the port is great aside from the lack of gamepad button prompts

Yeah I found that a bit of a struggle at first, especially since I chose manual grab and they mapped it to RB (I guess since it's optional). That is literally the last place I was going to look, particularly since in Underworld that button lobs a sticky grenade.

nice shots there fellas. i really should go back and put some more time into anniversary. it does a great job evoking the look and feel of the classic tomb raider games but with modern, playable controls.

and manual grab is definitely the way to go.

I never really played the old games but I must say I'm rather enjoying the new ones. One thing I've noticed is the difficulty disparity between Anniversary and Underworld, the latter is significantly easier and it's probably partly grab-related.

TronLight, you are too paranoid :). Steam won't ban you for using another type of .exe. At least in my experiences and several other people, Valve isn't likely to monitor what files every single Steam user have on their computers and subsequently assess whether or not to entirely ban anyone from the service.
