Pro Tip to new people: Pick Anti Mage. You can't lose with him!
There's a practice mode with bots, but unfortunately the tutorials haven't been implemented yet.
These two guides are helpful at explaining the game though, but can be a bit overwhelming:

So can Clinkz replace Drow Ranger on all these "Heroes for newbies to pick up at first" list?
Jesus he's so easy to play. Way easier to last hit as well due to the bonus of Searing Arrows.
I can't tell if that is in-joke sarcasm, but I will keep it in mind!
Some easier starter heroes are (regardless of flag) Skeleton King, Tidehunter, and Lion, though that first one can be a bit less effective if you're not farming a lot.
Hooray! I got in the beta!
Now the real question is, who is the easiest to use?
Coming from LoL and a very little bit of HoN, I do not know who to use! (But in HoN, I did enjoy using Succubus...so is there anyone like that?)
Yeah just a warning, if you are new to Dota, its best you avoid the inhouses. Heck I'm avoiding them as well for the sake of my own sanity
Hey guys,
Just got my beta invite tonight. I'm really excited to play, but I know nothing about DOTA games. Is there a tutorial/bots training mode? I'm looking to actually learn the game before I fuck up constantly online.![]()

Always satisfying when your random team stomps a premade team though!True to some degree, however I would try to go into matchmaking with teams of GAFfers. Premade teams always tend to do better than completely random teams.
Succubus is Bane Elemental in Dota, who is not implemented yet. Who else did you like in HoN?
succubus is the only one i remember doing good with. lol.
but i am looking for a ranged champion mostly!
Don't ever play GAF Inhouses they are the worst. Random pubbies are actually nicer.
Just played my first game, randomed into Doom Bringer (or something). Now to learn how to play.

What is the action that mouse 3 does? I want to change that action to mouse 4, but I don't see an option for it.
Did you do well? What was the reaction of your teammates? Did you tell'em that you're playing dota for the first time? If yes, what did they answer you? Were you called a noob? Did they asked you to uninistall Dota and to never play it again? Met your first Russian?

Clinkz has no voice?
It has.
If you want to get yelled at through a mic, then yeah
Both are pretty bad. You're either getting stomped or getting stomped while being called homophobic remarks with people you will probably never ever see again.
Thanks for the reply, but I don't see the option to change it in the menu.
Clinkz doesn't appear to have a voice for me. My friend doesn't hear it either.
Welcome to the current state of dota 2, where mouse1/mouse2/mouse3/ctrl/alt are not bound to anything, yet still perform an action. There is absolutely nothing that can be done about this currently from the user side.
I'm playing practice w him atm, and he's definitely voiced.
Me too, and I've tried again 3 times and he is not.
The Bungie Pentathlon is tomorrow, can't wait to watch their Dota 2 finals with Tobi commentating. Anyone else hyped?
Rooting for Luke Smith's team entirely out of bias, having played a few IHs and MM games with those folks. Land some shackles, Shed! I berieve in you!
Can someone explain what the "+" numbers mean in the stats of each hero?
