[Anime] Your "Controversial" Opinions

You're right, the only person in Bleach who even comes close to the awesomeness of Kaku is perhaps.............no one.

That's nice and nobody is denying you the right to have thay opinion. But all I see is that silly nose. You obviously can look past the carticatural characters and still see them as badass. To me this style kills any chances of aprecieating their badassery. It's like Winnie the Pooh, I sure love this series, but wouldn't want to see those characters in a fights to the death.
The most I can take of this type of mixture was Disney's TaleSpin, but solely because it went for campy pulp adventures instead of serious action.

Also, Bleach has terrible fights after Soul Society. Stupid Deus Ex Machina's like Super Hollow Ichigo, and every single fight plays out like this.

Troll face.
Troll face.
Impossible to see back slash.
Troll face.
Aizen Smirk.
Shocked face.

You're still doing it wrong by looking to One Piece for "serious" action instead of "crazy awesome" action. And you like Bleach.

Manga Time:

Bleach has way too many characters. All the characters have way too many skills and power. Tite Kubo weighs down every story arc coming up with a dozen new enemies for his characters to spend dozens of issue battling, and of course all the new powers to go along with them. It gets boring and repetitive.

One Piece has a similar problem. They'll spend 50 issues in a huge group battle, filled with "power of friendship" flashbacks, and then only 5 issues progressing the actual plot. I love his art, but sometimes there's way too much going on at once.

I see plenty of crazy action in One Piece, but I could never view it's action as awesome.
And I don't particulary like Bleach, I just like it more than OP. That's a pretty important difference.

well there are some that stay pretty fresh. I thought one piece, dragon ball and gintama have pretty good legs. One piece is by the virtue of the richness of the grand line and the characters, there are one or two pretty weak arcs, but oda typically rebounds pretty well. dragon ball starts as pretty much a kiddy comedic adventure into full blown battle. Gintama on the hand, tries to be everything with parody thrown in. One arc is pure insanity, next, battle+drama with some 'historic' elements thrown into.

I agree on some comments on naruto and bleach, both started out as very very good but they're getting a bit stale, long winded, clusterfuck story.

I think Dragon Ball is a prime example of how it went to shit, terrible anime, doesnt even begin to compare to the manga.

One Piece I never liked the anime to begin with, manga is better.

Some, like Gintama, I havent watched.

That's because you're the type of person who views Bleach as serious because it takes itself seriously.

Yeah there's a very important distinction to make here. Just because something takes itself seriously does not mean the seriousness is well done. In Bleach and more recently Narruto that is ever more the reality.

The seriousness of the relatively recent deaths in One Piece are far more effecting than anything that's ever happened in Bleach.

To be honest I do need some grounding in reality to feel awesomeness, even if it's fake. That's also why later Gurren Lagan fights were meh to me. Why I conider Bebop movie to have the best anime fight scene of all time. Why Bourne's fights make my jaw drop, while I yawn at any historical kung-fu movie, despite the fact that it's actors are 5 times more capable than Damon ever could be. And why the little acrobations Faith did in Mirror's Edge beat the hell out of anything the Prototype's character could do.

Bleach. Grounded in reality. lol

I can't fathom why you're even watching shonen anime at all.

I believe you will love Gamaran and Vagabond.

More than OP at least. It's full of holes and it's foundation is in danger of shattering at the weakest pretext, but I can suspend my disbelief for that minute or two it takes me to read a new chapter. With OP any suspension of disbelief I could have shatters at the first frame.

Dont really follow anime so i dont know if this is contraversal or not but initial d stage 2 sucked really badly. The whole show became cg and it looked awful, it was painfully boring and they changed the english voice actors (not for the better)

I suggest you don't make statements on the quality of series' within a genre you don't really partake in :P

Well, that's nice suggestion, but pretty baseless. I'm explaining why I absoluely loathe OP, not arguing that it sucks :). I thought I made that pretty clear, if not then my apologies.

The thing that doesn't make sense is, you don't really like Shonen, yet you apparently think you've seen enough of OP to "absolutely loathe" it. That doesn't make sense, if you don't like shonen why did you even start it in the first place?

Also using Bleach as a defence is always poor practice.

Well..I'm not a saint not a masochist, so you can't expect me to continue reading manga I hate. I lasted for about 300 chapters of OP, so I definitely have seen enough of it to loathe the whole series.
Please don't go the "impossible! nobody can hate OP! if he does he obviously never read it" route

No but what I meant was, why in the world would you read 300 chapters of something you hate? That's what doesn't make sense.

Thats some deflecting.

Azumanga Daioh is pure awesomeness.
I don't think you'll find many that disagree with this (myself included) seeing as how Azmuanga made top 10 on GAF's top anime (of all time?) list a few years back.

Edit:
Lucky Star is the greatest anime series ever created. Its writing, dialogue, humor, comedic timing, pacing, characters, and references/homages to past anime are ridiculously brilliant. No series has ever made me laugh as hard, or connect and empathize, with its characters as much as this one. It's a series that excels on so many levels, not the least of which is a terrific slice-of-life show, a tremendous comedy, and a rather fantastic commentary on anime and otakuism. The fact that KyoAni wastes their time milking K-ON and churning out drivel like Nichijou instead of doing another season of this series pisses me off to no end.

Mecha is probably the worst genre of anime, and continuously produces some of the most cliche, generic, and cookie-cutter series out there. The majority of the time, I cannot get into an anime if it falls into this category; most of them just aren't any fun.
I wouldn't go as far to say Lucky Star is the greatest anime series ever created, but the rest of what you said I agree with. I also agree with the rest of the quoted.

I was a bit into Shonen phase back then. I've blazed through Narto and Bleach and suddenly had to wait week for each new chaprwe. So I went looking for something else and everybody kept recommending One Piece. My friends were so in love with it that I just kept not giving up on it.
Trust me, I know how dumb that was :D

I thought Cowboy Bebop was boring and Samurai Champloo is WAY better.

Bebop still has good music though. Love the ending. Better than Champloo's music even.

-FMA:B is amazing
-K-ON! is a fantastic show that is fun and relaxing to watch
-Clannad is the least offensive KEY work and is actually a good anime

Digimon Savers is just as good as Tamers

Not controversial at all but I think where Bleach starts to suck is the second they step through the portal to the Soul Society. All of the plot lines and style and character development up to that point comes to a screeching halt and you get lame DBZ monster of the week battles from then on and nobody even mentions the stuff that came before.

I don't have strong feelings about Evangelion. It's ambitious. Some of the ambition works and some of it doesn't, so the end product is good, but not incredible.

I can't get through the first season of Darker than Black, especially after I reached the point where they switched OPs.

The first FMA had an awful ending that pretty much ruined the series for me.

FLCL is the best thing Gainax has ever done or will do.

I derived significant enjoyment from OreImo.

Madoka = Mehdoka

Samurai Champloo > Cowboy Bebop (though I love both)

FMA > Brotherhood

Kamiyama's Ghost in the Shell > Oshii's

I prefer good dubs to watching something subbed.

I think Zeta Gundam is a bad show (even I though still kinda like it?). I really enjoyed Gundam 00, including season 2 and the movie.

I didn't like Akira.

I think Ghibli is overrated, though some of their films are masterpieces (Totoro, Grave of the Fireflies, Whisper of the Heart).

I didn't like Paprika at all, though I've enjoyed all of Kon's other work.

Anime-GAF either has supremely terrible taste or are full of masochists. Looking at those top 10 of the year lists is painful.

Takahata is a better director than Miyazaki.

I think Dragon Ball is a prime example of how it went to shit, terrible anime, doesnt even begin to compare to the manga.

Honestly, Dragon Ball's filler is a much better option that the crap Naruto and Bleach get. I'd rather have Toei take five years adapting Goku going Super Saiyan rather than having 2 years straight of original anime nonsense.

I have no doubt that the editors at Jump let new manga titles run their own course for a while, while accumulating reader feedback, before deciding to force the writer to turn it into a long-run Dragon Ball-esque power-up fest.

Half the stuff from last year is better than that trash, you're apparently a bigger masochist than all of anime-gaf. lol
