I think people worry that iap will end up driving the cost of games way higher than the 99¢-$1.99 median we seem to be at now, but I think that's going to be a good thing for the quality of future games, if the higher prices are accepted...
Personally I've got a character on Arcadian Forest as that's where the GAF guild used to be once upon a time. I got to level 58 during the last "double-xp" weekend they had at the beginning of the year. Best MMO offering on iOS by far, a bit grindy once you hit the mid 30's but lesser so now after the recent update.
That but having to buy stuff to play more of a game is actually something completely different than having a demo and then buy the full game. If it's like you get the game and the you can pay for a full unlock once, now that's exactly like "having a demo and then buying the full game". This is like the less used IAP style in IOS right now. Most of the time IAP are something you can pay forever for. For as long as you play. This is the model I personally don't like. Even just words sometimes are repulsing me. Saying a game is "free" and then you need to purchase stuff inside to continue, this is a sad little mind trick. It should actually be liable for "false publicity" in my opinion if we didn't have 20th century's laws.

I've been wondering the same thing. It's perfect for the platform. It's INSANE to me that natsume made a harvet moon themed puzzle game for iOS but not a real Harvest Moon game.

Hero Academy, and no it's iPhone only (playable on iPad in 2x mode).
As for other good games, do you like board games? If so look up Ascension, Carcassonne, Ticket To Ride, and Elder Sign: Omens on youtube. All are excellent.
Beaten. This is probably my favorite iOS game now.
It isn't for iPad but the iPhone version works just fine on the iPad for now, developers have confirmed a universal update is on the way.

He was asking for free stuff only, which is a major limiter. The only free apps on my iPad 2 that aren't in his list are jukebeat, jubeat plus, and REFLEC BEAT plus (which are arguably freemium as they only have 3 songs each if you don't buy any song packs). There's also the Lite versions of Cave's releases (Espgaluda II, Dodonpachi Resurrection, Bug Panic, Deathsmiles, and Bug Princess).

As I was hinting about 10 minutes ago, a lot of the quality releases are going to cost you one way or another. Not a whole lot is given away for free on iOS. If it helps, it's been mentioned that Best Buy's digitally delivered iTunes store credit is 20% off today.
Also, Ghost Trick is definitely today's hotness. You can play the first two chapters for free, so no harm in giving it a shot, no?
I'm not American and my brother already has Ghost Trick on his DS.

Neuroshima Hex is so incredibly addictive. My board game of choice when not playing online multiplayer. It's wonderfully suited to the iPad and it even convinced me to buy the actual game.
Actually looks like we may have some money left on that $50 iTunes card for my brothers 'E-text books'. He is getting a codes from the school for 2 of the text books.
I believe like 22bucks with be spent of school related apps.
So i guess i will buy like GTA3 and Accession.

I just got my first iPad two days ago. I really like tower defense games and so far have downloaded Kingdom Rush, Unstoppable Gorg, and Jelly defense. I can't stop playing Jelly defense! It's great so far. Does anyone have any more recommendations for when I'm done with these three? I prefer no IAP in the games if possible.
Anomaly: Warzone Earth (I think) is really good, it is basically reverse tower defense. You are the creeps.

I don't have it but from what I've read some people were saying it seemed like they just took the arcade rom and threw in touch controls.
I've been checking App Shopper every day and for the last 2 or 3 weeks pretty much nothing 'good' has gone free...what's the deal...maybe I'm just burnt out and not caring about most of the ones that are going free..I tried stuff like The Cruncheons before and didn't care for them

I think there's a bug with the update or something. I haven't been able to download the latest update and now it disappeared from my update page. I don't think they're doing this intentionally.
It's supposed to be an excellent port.

Upgrades, some which change cars appearance, sizable career mode + multiple single player modes, street and dirt cars that control differently, paint/rim/tint customization. It's a great sequel.
Those are some of the absolute best titles on the platform. Don't skimp!
