Yeah the 'running away' argument is about as silly as if Werdum was upset because Overeem didn't lay on the ground with him when they had the SF title match.

Apparently because Condit didn't stand in front of Diaz and play Rock Em Sock Em Robots with him he "ran away".
Pretty much this. Diaz was picked apart in the points game and lost, end of story. People are pissed that Condit didn't stand in front of him to get his ass beat for five rounds. If Diaz wanted to finish the fight he should have considered going for the take down with more than 90 seconds left in the whole fucking fight. He clearly wasn't winning the points fighter stand-up game around Round 3.

Oh yeah last night proved how Diaz's boxing is overrated. Freddy Roach was 100% right about him too. No foot work. No head movement. No angles while throwing punches. No hip and back getting put behind his punches. He couldn't even cut off Carlos. Flat footed boxer with no power.

Diaz clearly lost the match no doubt about it.

However, I was extremely disappointed with Conduits's mentality going into the fight, which was basically to win the match by points apposed to wining the match by actually wanting to finishing the fight and put Diaz down, which was basically what Diaz wanted to do to his opponent.

"I would have went for that arm lock but I thought I was up in the cards"

Remember who said that? Not the guy that has had two fights go to decision in his last 28 matches.

Because Diaz is soooo easy to put down.

I'm rather enjoy the conspiracy theory that evil genius Greg Jackson threw out Cerrone to Nate Diaz in order to better formulate a plan for Carlos.

The last thought I have about this interim championship bout is that Diaz is still a good fighter. He's was outboxed this time, but he's still an obvious top 3 or top 5 fighter if he chooses to come back to the Octagon with a new gameplan. I don't think he was overrated in the least but this fight would have foreshadowed any Diaz would have had with GSP. He had center control of the Octagon, wasn't too far behind in the strikes game and had the only takedown. He gave Condit a hell of a challenge.

It's unfortunate that he also assumed Octagon control would net him the decision. I wouldn't give him aggression because, like I said, his plan wasn't working, he was getting hit with more significant strikes, and didn't change up anything until 90 seconds were left in the whole fight. His plan was to push Condit in a corner and outstrike him. And he couldn't do that despite trying for twenty-three minutes.

The worst part of it all was that his retirement looks more childish and spoiled that Penn's. I'm hoping he just put on a show to extract more money from Uncle Dana for the next fight. The UFC needs him just as much as he doesn't have any marketable skills outside of fighting.

yo, this is what engaging for 5 seconds in a 25 minute fight with babykicks does to someone's face:

People are damn stupid. They think the only reason for kicks is to cause damage and to swell and bruise. Condit threw LOW kicks to stop Diaz from coming forward or proceeding along a certain angle of attack. HIGH kicks were meant to inflict damage, and they did.

Condit has more finishes than Diaz. It's like these dudes have never seen another Condit fight before.

I thought condit fought a great fight. I found it hilarious when Diaz started taunting cause you could tell it was cause he was getting desperate.

Is there any word yet on the suspensions/injuries? I'm wondering if Diaz's ribs were hurt. He kinda grabbed his stomach twice in two different rounds.

Posted a similar thing earlier. The legs kicks acted almost as a way for Condit to control the range. He wasn't aiming to chop him down or sweep him with the leg kicks. Eventually the sheer number of kicks would limit the power/speed Diaz could generate from his legs, but damage wasn't the main focus.

Fighting is like chess and war. You need to utilize your best tactics and take advantage of opponent's weaknesses. Getting out of line of fire is very ninja-like. I prefer hit and run tactics, like Dragon Machida's style.

As much as I wanted Diaz to win, Condit won that fight. I went 10/11. Condit played smart, and knew how to avoid Diaz Flurry.

I thought his desperate takedown attempts where the best thing ever.

Objectively, Condit neutralized Diaz while popping off. I don't see how any case could be made for diazm but im sure there's at least 12 threads on sherdog attempting just that.

NO WAY BRO REAL FIGHTERS WOULD RATHER DIE THAN TAP YOU'LL HAVE TO DRAG ME OUT OF THE CAGE IN A BODY BAG BRO!

First youtube comment:

Those were two OK kicks but he clearly ran away from the tv the entire bout. TV clearly won a decision.

maybe we can start spelling Condit's name right now. or is that asking too much?

lol @ Diaz "retirement".

Yeah. When Diaz first goes into a fight, he acts all like a tough guy, but when he looses, he acts like a little boy who didn't get that toy he wanted.

I thought the prelim fights were more exciting than the main card. Everybody seemed to play it safe. Even the Roy Nelson fight was boring because it was very obvious from the start who was the better fighter but damn that guy can take a beating.

I was hoping for Diaz to win so that GSP could put a beatdown on him and shut him up.

It's funny watching people still saying he was "running" as if he should've just stayed up against the cage and play Diaz's game. Who in their right mind wouldn't scramble back to center octagon? If anything, it was on Diaz to move his feet and block Condit's escape routes off.

So what you're saying is: Diaz would've outstriked a Killer.

I agree the man was no killer he is pointmaster however.

Plywood is just bitter. Like most people that thought Diaz would win.
I'm not bitter, I just wanted a better fight. If that's all Condit has for GSP then expect the decision era to continue.

Not that I'm saying Diaz would do better considering he lost.

You know what I couldn't stop thinking about all night? Who are those guys in the red suits that stand next to the fighters during the introductions and what else do they do besides stand there? How do you get that job and what does it pay?

You need to accept that the current champs in most of the divisions are so far above the rest of the guys in their weight-class that it is going to be boring.

Hail to the KING baby
This Nick Diaz would have had absolutely nothing for GSP (barring GSP's injury being career-wrecking). Condit willingly engaged him on the feet and Diaz had nothing for him. Diaz even threw 70 fewer strikes. GSP of course has better TD and TDD than Condit too. Condit has better finishing power and instinct than Diaz and is a much smarter fighter (as in he is capable of having more than one strategy). This is why I'm excited for GSP-Condit. But I do hope Condit fights once before it happens because why not.
