And also a WTF, if you were wondering what round Diaz won on two of the judges scorecards, and picked either the second or the fifth round (which the other judge gave both to Diaz) - you were wrong. If the first round was your next choice, you were wrong too:

They gave Diaz the third, which I don't think many gave him at all as even being in dispute. And one of them of course, was Cecil.

PS - Oh yeah I forgot about his oft mentioned claims about going into boxing. Wouldn't surprise me if that's where he goes next, starts fighting cans in boxing.

In the boxing world, he IS a can. He has these grand allusions of fighting big name fighters like Hopkins or Trinidad or something, but he'd get tooled by pretty much any mid-level boxing prospect or vet. There's also no money in it for him. NObody is going to pay big bucks to see him try his hand at boxing.

Way to pick all the favorites, whatever.

if that's picking correct then fuck this, i'm out.

I feel like there's no underdog I'd trust my money with on this card. I say this knowing I pick main event underdogs wrong with 100% accuracy.

You guys see anything?

Bad MMA instincts took over, brah.

Haha oh wow.

Well I think he had a fight inked with some washed up boxer a while back that got cancelled. Trinidad or Vargas or someone like that.

Well, at least one judge nailed it.

this is why i can't play any of these pick 'ems or fantasy league. they just need to make one that's straight up betting line and maybe some extra points for picking round and method. that's the only way that makes any sense to me. mmaplayground does it a little better, but even then their underdog bonuses rarely make up for it

This man gets it BTW:

If Carlos Condit is victorious over Nick Diaz in tonight's UFC 143, he is unlikely to wait for George St. Pierre says his manager according to mmajunkie.com.

"It depends on who the No. 1 contender is and what that fight does for us because to be honest with you, this is all about making money...These guys are getting in their late 20s. I don't blame Cesar Gracie for saying what he's saying. Waiting for the GSP fight is the seven-figure payday, it's where the money's going to be at," Malki Kawa, Condit's manager said.

Despite Gracie favoring his fighter, Nick Diaz, to wait for a big pay matchup with St. Pierre, Kawa sees it differently and believes a fighter needs to stay active in order to be successful.

"I don't blame them, but if there's another fight that makes sense stylistically, a guy staying busy, I've seen, is better than a guy who takes long breaks," Kawa said.

Another one of Kawa's clients is light heavyweight champion Jon Jones who has been an active fighter himself, fighting four times in 2011, and has also stated that he wanted to fight as soon as possible. Moreover if Condit wins the interim belt, don't be surprised to see him defend it before a matchup with St. Pierre.

"It's not the same if they win one more and build themselves up. You can build a bigger fan base and get people excited...It'd make the GSP fight even bigger," Kawa said.

So Brock Lesnar retires. GSP/Diaz superfight is off, and Diaz possibly retires. If Anderson/Sonnen 2 does shit numbers like the original Rio card with Anderson, will Dana off himself?

Siva-Sonnen I did 600K, safe to say this will do more than that. They're still making good money, they just signed a big ass deal of moneyhats with FOX, I doubt he's as upset as people make him out to be.

Right, the guy worth hundreds of millions of dollars is going to off himself....

That 600k is only North America too, it did ridiculous numbers in Brazil.

yeah big picture the UFC is growing and growing. I don't think Dana gets as upset over individual fighters and match ups as people here make it out to be.

Does anyone else think that this PPV kind of stunk? I mean, it didn't really look great on paper, but this was a very boring event to me.

Werdum, Thompson, Poirier, Brown, and Herman did their thing. Barao quietly put on a clinic.

Also, let's not forget about the heroic comeback performance of Matthew Riddle.

Some guy on Sherdog called it a few days ago, said Condit sounded stuffy in the prefight interviews. I don't think it affected his performance one way or the other, he had a clear game plan which he executed perfectly.

Nice call from that guy then. And yeah, probably didn't change much.

What I think is weird is that Maia from the FOX event didn't say a word about his flu even though he looked terrible before the fight and during the fight. There's no way he would have been that bad if he was ok.

Good for him, a lot of Brazilian fighters make excuses after losses. Classy of Maia not to.

Maybe, but you can not tell me he was not seriously salty after JDS knocked out Cain.

I think he was upset that they didn't have a good showing on their first network broadcast because the fight lasted a minute, not because Cain lost.

Got back from kickin' it with the buds, and wow i don't know how anyone would've scored that for Diaz, except the 5th round. Conduit did his thang and won clearly in my eyes.

Also Dustin Poirier is the man! That submission on Holloway was crazy. I was cringing at him twisting that arm lol. I want to see how he does against the Korean Zombie and Eric Koch, but i see future title contender with Poirier easily.

This was the worst UFC I've ever seen. Worse than 109 or 119. Condit, I am disappoint by your refusal to scrap. Go get decisioned by GSP, I don't care anymore.

I enjoyed it, some good brawls. The main event disappointed, but Condit was the deserved winner. Instead of focusing on what he did do (great movement to avoid getting caught in a corner), focus on what Diaz didn't do, which was pretty much nothing... If you can't force someone to fight your way, don't be surprised when they don't, and cut out the taunting, idiot.

At least to me Condit had the perfect game plan and never got into Nick's antics.
Condit won.

But man... i was rooting for Nick and now he retires? im heartbroken.
And after the ACL i doubt GSP will beat Condit.

Thanks for proving who won. Maybe the people that keep claiming Condit didn't land anything will shut the fuck up now. And in Rd 2, Diaz landed the only flurry to the body of Condit that probably made up a nice chunk of those strikes he probably got way more credit for in the numbers than he deserved.

That's pretty misleading... if you take out the leg kicks Diaz the Fightmetric shows Diaz won the striking in Rounds 1-3.

Watching the fight, I began thinking Diaz's plan might not have been the best idea from the second round. Sure he was controlling the fight and pushing forward but he wasn't capitalising on it. It looked like Diaz was holding back and just trying to overwhelm Condit with his presence by picking him with counter-attacks rather than trying to finish the fight, which he had the ability to do. The plan backfired by making Condit work harder, be more aggressive and throw more strikes. That scored him points with the judges. By the time the fourth round was going on I was half expecting it to end in a judge's decision for Condit regardless of whether or not he deserved it.

Long story short, Diaz blew it. Condit deserved to win.

herp derp

Condit engaged for 5 seconds in a 25 minute fight!

HE WASN'T RUNNING BRO

Maybe Diaz should have shut his mouth and thrown some more punches and not let Conduit off of the cage.

Come on. Baby kicks or not, Diaz should have stopped him. I don't even care that Conduit won. It's the same shit, unless the fight ends in a sub or ko. People manipulating scenarios. If you take away the kicks, it's not the same fucking fight. Also if you watched the fight the kicks were an effective strategy by Conduit to enforce his range advantage.

I need to eat more if I'mm going to be able to absorb punishment like Big Country.

Well if you take out the kicks, knees, and punches Big Country won his fight!

I really do love how the "best boxer" at 170 got out boxed last night and people can't accept it. Conduit's head movement was so Damn good and Diaz was getting mad because he couldn't hit him.

Edit: Are people really saying he ran away because he didn't let Diaz punch him in a corner? If so please don't ever watch boxing.

Apparently because Condit didn't stand in front of Diaz and play Rock Em Sock Em Robots with him he "ran away".
