The funniest thing about a potential rematch is - what do you do with the winner? That's what really makes it BS. If Diaz won that fight he'd almost certainly be given the shot against GSP. They're not going to have GSP wait around for the rubber match winner of that series, so Condit's first win would be pointless.
That's part of what makes it so obvious what the heads want the outcome to be, and it's clear simply in Dana floating the question of a rematch around. The fight wasn't remotely controversial. Some people are certainly trying to create controversy, but the fight wasn't close enough to demand that. Everyone saying Nick won has to resort to "he was the one walking forward" even though Condit was consistently engaging him. Is it possible to "run away" and end up throwing and landing more strikes than the other guy?
Aggressiveness becomes bone-headed when it only results in the other guy getting more strikes in. Diaz looked fantastic in previous fights when that same aggressiveness and trash-talking rattled his opponent and allowed Diaz to dictate the entire fight. This time around, Condit was the dictator, and Diaz and his biggest fans aren't used to that. Dana himself scored it for Condit and he's still trying to play the "but others think it's controversial" card to score a rematch, which would be in his best interests.
Having said that, I don't see Condit agreeing to it if it's offered, so I guess it's a moot point. He thinks the fight wasn't close and seems hesitant to take any fight before GSP, let alone an unnecessary Diaz rematch.
