All the Chelsea people whinging about the penalty on Welbeck seem to have forgotten that they are only in the 4th round of the FA cup because Sturridge dived for a penalty against QPR. Just like Adam Johnson yesterday Welbeck's dive was a perfectly executed piece of cheating that any referee would have given when looking at it in real time.

Yep. None of us have right to be indignant about players diving, but we're directing the hate in the wrong direction.

The issue is moron referees being suckered in and falling for blatant dives, the slightest contact, etc. The players are just doing what they need to do to win. I don't begrudge a single one of them.

Poor refereeing is the issue.

I hear you but Welbeck today and Johnson yesterday...it's hard to spot that shit..

Remember the time Newcastle beat Manchester United 3-0 without a comeback?

People thought the same thing was happening here.

Well it's not going to happen every game is it? But we have seen time and time again that Man Utd are very capable of turning around games that look over.

Wow, you sure showed me!

Showed you what exactly? Always a bellend, Then again that goes for the majority of the Spurs fan base.

I agree with this but what is the cause? Is it that the individual referees are poor or is it the limitations of the current system? Should we expect the referees to spot everything? Has there ever been a time when this was the case? All of the ongoing talk about refereeing just strengthens the argument for video replays in my opinion.

Fady...

Tell me everything's gonna be alright

Wow, Shogun PaiN? You need to calm down. :/

Sometimes it is hard to spot ala Johnson yesterday.. poor refereeing is only part of the problem I think. We are wrong if we were to point all the blame on poor refereeing decisions.

This.

It's also showcasing some teams punching above their weight; Newcastle, Sunderland, Norwich and Swansea more specifically.

Plus seeing the fall of some Premier League staples like Bolton and Blackburn.

A very entertaining season.

Hope we finally get rid of Wigan. Those fuckers take points of us every season without fail.

Wow, Shogun PaiN? You need to calm down. :/

I'm calm sir! Hardly the worst insult.

I am disgusted. Disgusting. Curse you Webb. CURSE YOUUUUuUU!!!!

I was exploding at Webb. Disgusting...

Id rather have it end 1-1 rather than have false hopes at 3-0 only for the damn ref to mess it up badly.

I feel dreadful. Worst football feel of the season. Thanks for your kind words though...

We've talked about this before son - you need to chill and try to look at it objectively:

We started with a positive formation - with Mata playing centrally - but United dominated the opening exchanges in a game of very little quality.

We took an undeserved 3 - 0 lead - but Torres looked lively, Mata was always involved - but Malouda was awful. The first penalty was a rash piece of defending from Sturridge; the second? Well, the less said the better - and that was what gave United the momentum.

Torres should have scored - but his lack of confidence really shone through.

Then came AVB's decision making - a bold move to start the game quickly faded under pressure; shifting Mata out wide completely kills his influence, taking Sturridge off when he was tormenting Evra was another poor piece of management.

Essien, who hasn't played for months, remains on the field when clearly exhausted, Malouda, who has been shit all season, stayed on - and Sturridge, who looked a threat all game, gets subbed.

Yes Webb made a couple of poor decisions that, ultimately, cost us the match - but we can look a little closer to home for some other issues.

My brother isn't happy with Evra lately!
Nobody is happy with him! He's becoming a liability. Last year he was patchy, this year he's just crap most weeks. When that Mackie from QPR was getting the better of him...that was my "welliguessthatsthat.jpg" moment with Pat.

His attacking is still really good though, not scared to drive into the box.

Regarding your Spurs comment, I was on a Spurs forum and they are furious at Suarez -"Liverpool and/or fans are racist" is the consensus. This is ignoring their Adebeyor and Sol Campbell chants...

Right, where do I start on this fucking debacle?

First of all, De Gea. Kermit, I believe you're a goalkeeper? Thus, you know the pressure. You've also praised van der Sar and Friedel repeatedly. Thus, you know the importance of experience in goalkeeping. I just don't understand where this defence of Savic comes from when he's in much less pressurised situations and position as opposed to De Gea, who apparently 'might come good but has been rubbish this season':

Well, he has. He's only started a handful of times all season against the crap clubs, and has only been used recently because Kompany was suspended. In that time he had to face Tottenham and Liverpool twice in two very high pressure encounters. He bottled it, sure, but it's not like he's been up against the lightweights.

Not completely praising him, but you say 'he'll be fine in a few years'. I just don't understand the logic behind this praise of Savic, but De Gea who plays in goal, whose first game was against Manchester City, who played Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal in his first ten games and who despite 6 or 7 errors has made a much higher number of great saves. Then again, it is Kermit:

U0F54.jpg

Evra. Get him the fuck out. I don't even care if he's been a great servant, someone with his experience, internationally and for us, should be able to close down and have enough belief in his abilities to poke a fucking ball away from a striker. Same for Evans. He has no positional awareness whatsoever and needs to be evacuated from existence.

Welbeck is a diving little fool. I love the guy and he's a great player, but I quite happily called out Johnson yesterday and I will do exactly the same today for Welbeck. It's shameful.

Howard Webb is a bastard. He was giving Chelsea decisions they shouldn't have had, and us decisions we shouldn't have had. How is that Cahill one not a foul? How is that a yellow for Torres? On what grounds have you given that second penalty? Probably the worst refereeing performance of the season, from a man whose refereed the World Cup Final.

Positives:

Hernandez's movement is fantastic and he needs to start more. Rooney's penalties were great. De Gea wasn't at fault for any of the goals and made an incredible save. Mata's goal was sublime and I loved watching it. This team never says die and even if we do come second, like I say when we've got this as a team, it's hard not to feel proud sometimes:

Inexperienced Keeper in De Gea

Best defender crocked, his defensive partner close to withering over and dying, two potentially fantastic but inexperienced defenders with injuries, Jonny Fucking Evans and Patrice Fucking Evra, and the twins who are always injured.

2 midfielders with the combined age of Gandalf, Carrick (who while very good today is not the most dynamic of midfielders), the deification of Pogba and Cleverley despite them being nothing but potential, Anderson who has an arse that has been solely responsible for the last two solar eclipses, Ashley Young who runs into dead ends more than prostitutes running from Jack The Ripper, Tony 'One Foot' V and inconsistent Nani

A temperamental striker who scores in fits and bursts, a diving fool, injured Chicharito and Berbatov, whose lazier than fucking Drowzee. And Mame Biram Diouf.

And Fergie works wonders with that pile of shite.

Rant over. Time to cry.

EDIT: Also yeah god we were lucky today. So fucking lucky. But I'll be bitter and say 'if Balotelli had been sent off, if Defoe had scored, we'd be level with City and Spurs 3 points behind with a game in hand'. So I'll take the luck and hope it's one isolated incident.

Had to laugh when the Media suggested Evra was bothered by the Liverpool crowd leading to him losing Kuyt for the goal. Strange how he has lost so much form, Not like he is slowing down or anything.

Lets not forget them calling Liverpool fans ''Dippers'' yet there they are looting and destroying their own town.

Here we go...

Is this all because of what I said about the commentary on LFC TV?

What did you say? If is was something along the lines of ''The commentary is shite'' then I fully agree with you.

Wait, what did Evans do so badly today that people are calling for him to get out of the club? I think he made a couple of good clearing headers and his positioning is not terrible, at all, that's one of his strengths if anything. I thought he was good.

He was ok but not that good. The same can be said about Rio.

It's weird, really no idea why he's going downhill so fast but all I can think of is that he's getting complacent. Concentration must be dropping and he hasn't really had any competition for his place since Heinze left.

You've been anointed Liverpool GAF's public enemy #1. Stay strong, last time this happened, Manager became a statistic.

He's just fucking inept. He's hardly been tested since the City game, there's been this positivity about him saying that he's improved. He hasn't, he's just lucky the Premier League is atrocious and there is no quality to test him. When we played Arsenal, RvP dropped off so much that he didn't need to be marshalled all the time. Evra is more so to blame than Evans for the last two defeats but its not the point, so many times he's shown to be at fault when marking, when getting caught out by strikers making the run off of him. He's bad.

Very harsh on Evans Wilbury, he's been pretty good this season overall.

Not as good as he was two years ago but still not bad.

Sorry, I completely disagree. I just miss Vidic even more when he's not playing. If he was playing for a lesser team than Man United he'd be caught out so many times. I just think he's average personified and shouldn't be playing for us.

Personally, I think the interpretations have been bastardized to an extent that now even the slightest clip or nudge is a penalty, which is entirely against the spirit of the rule.

That's the fault of the refereeing fraternity who allow such blatant cheating to prosper, and often reward the offender.

I'm really getting sick and tired of this season. Far too many games are being lost/drawn/won not because a team played well or poorly but because of poor refereeing, luck and injuries, and this game had them all.

Going into the game both teams were missing a significant amount of players but for once not just due to injury, but due to suspension (which is the players/clubs own fault) and the African Cup, Chelsea's list of players missing was almost as bad as United's to the point where it was pretty even and it would be hard to complain.

Putting the missing players to one side you then have what happened in the game, a lucky own goal, a penalty not given and then a red card not given for a last man foul. Had even just one of those things been rightfully given to United then it would have been a completely different game, but as the way this season has been going none of those things happened and Chelsea got there goals. United's comeback was great but was soured slightly by yet another poor refereeing decision when Danny Welbeck most have been taking notes yesterday from watching Adam Johnson dive to win a penalty against Fulham and did the same.

Unless a significant amount of players comeback from injury next week i fully expect Man United to drop more points against Liverpool and the title race to be over.

Agreed. Evans was no worse than Rio today. Evans has done okay. We need to remember he is down as 5th choice CB really, maybe 4th. You can't have a quality player in that position...he's been at the club for some time and he does a decent enough job...just we don't want to be relying on him in big games like this.

I don't think Evans has been any worse than Rio all season, honestly. Vidic and Smalling would be my first choice pairing when everyone is fit. Evans is a very decent back up.

Good lord - that was almost not that biased!

I'm just fed up for the amount of times there's been near misses or I've had to fucking will him using my telekinesis powers alone to get tighter to his man or position himself accurately. I don't place all the blame on him, and Ferdinand was pretty poor today, but more often than not I'm just infuriated with Evans.

If the ref misses a dive, fair enough. If he sees a dive, ala Ashley Young, he should book the player. The player should also, subject to a panel's vote, be banned for 1 game or have the yellow rescinded. If you're playing in games with so much resting on them, and so little deterrant, why wouldn't you dive. UEFA had it right when they punished Eduardo for his dive against Celtic, unfortunately they somehow forgot to inform people of that rule-change, and thus had to let him get away with it (rightly.) Since then, absolutely nothing has been done to even try and stop it from getting worse, let alone eradicate it.

Its a blight on our beautiful game, and everyone in power pussy-foots around it like, well, pussies.

We'll agree to disagree.

Evans has been good this season and any mistake he makes gets magnified x100, he's wrongly vilified by many supporters even though he's played well on the whole this season. Because of his one bad year last year he's wrongly targeted and people forget the good few years before that when he was being talked up as being a very promising CB.

Today yes he made a mistake by not playing to the whistle by calling for an offside but bar that he was fine. Nothing great no, but fine.

I know what you mean. At least Rio has been top top, at the very worst top 5 CB's in the world level, for us. Evans is just...well, he's never gonna be better than he is. But I dunno, he's a squad player...I can live with it. If Jones/Vidic/Smalling weren't injured so much then he wouldn't have played so much and would have happily sat on the bench for the next 5 years.

Maybe I am guilty of exacerbating things, but when I'm watching him I just fucking rue the fact Vidic is injured even more rather than feel confident that we've got someone pretty adept covering. Smalling should always be in the centre when fit rather than out on the right.

But he doesn't. He plays a lot, in the last few years he's still rotated here there and everywhere. I can understand it with injuries but I'd almost rather play Carrick at centre back, I don't know.

Evra though, fuck me. Had enough. I really have. There's no excuse.

Man U and Chelsea match was the worse match I've watched all season. Absolutely awful.

Was expecting a good game after the awesome Newcastle and Aston Villa game. Left disappointed.

You've misinterpreted my point in both cases. In regards to Savic, someone was saying he'll never be good, and I was saying it's too early to tell. In the case of De Gea, Brinbe was saying De Gea hasn't been bad this season. But he has, and my post was inferring that regardless of what he becomes in the future, he has indeed been crap this season. I never commented on De Gea's future prospect, I was just correcting Brinbe.

As you'll see, it's two very different situations. Here's your coat.

And when have I ever claimed the A-League was good quality? You make none of the sense. A-League is crap. Serie A is crap. You're the one pulling bullshit conclusions.

I miss Vidic too but we've just got to deal with it best we can at the minute, I agree though Evra is dire. Hopefully Fabio will get his chance at LB, Evra is very poor now in defence.

Much been made on GAF of Ferdinand being booed by Chelsea fans?
