Guys, I think I'm part of the problem. I'm passing on the Vita at the last minute to get that sweet new Samsung phone with a stylus I saw during the Super Bowl. Does that make me a bad person?

If you like games then yes, if you buy any phone go with the Iphone. But if you are somebody that likes to play games comfortably (imo how they should be played, not this touch d-pad and buttons crap) then go with the vita.

That is not to say that there are no good games on iphone, just any game with touch buttons and d-pad makes me want to vomit and never play games on the iphone again. I only buy games that play to its strength, which woud be touch or tilt only games.

the idea of a phone with a stylus just sounds ridiculous to me.

This also, are we back in the 90's?

After getting some hands-on time with Vita in Best Buy yesterday I think I'm going to have to wait a while before picking one up. It was pretty cool, but I think my days as an avid portable gamer are over. I like it, but I don't love it.

I'm depressed now.

You'll love it when you're playing Gravity Rush on your couch with headphones on, though.

My Best Buy didn't even have a Vita out to try. What a let down.

It was locked up under the counter at the register by games. I didn't know they had one until the salesperson saw me looking at the preorder box and asked me if I wanted to try it. He stood in front of me while two other dudes stood behind me. I guess so I wouldn't try to run off with it.

You should try demoing one at Gamestop before you really decide. As far as I know Best Buy only has Little Deviants on demo, which is hardly going to sell skeptics on the system.

Damn, I guess I should swing by Best Buy soon. I still haven't seen a Vita in person. I'm fairly certain I've never touched a PSP either, lol. It's all new to me.

They thought you were sexy, did you get there numbers? :P

That's ok. It's the games that entice people. The OS, demoes, non-games are only there to buffer the experience. I wasn't particularly taken in by the demoes either.

The only demo I <3 was SoundShapes. That pretty much sealed the deal. Gravity Rush/Daze, Uncharted weren't there when I tried. Wipeout was there but I am not a racing guy.

Check back later !

I had a Palm IIIe back in high school, that thing rocked my world. I shed a tear when phones went capacitive instead of resistive. Handwriting recognition software FTW.

Oh, I just walked around where the demo stations typically are and didn't see it. I may go back and actually ask a sales person.

Oh, I definitely will. I imagine I'll get one within the first 6 months or so, easily.

Ah, I think somewhere in between, BlackBerry's keypad came in first. My friends loved that mini-keyboard. Then iPhone came in with the multi-touch UI.

I wonder when SoundShapes will be released. It was my favorite Vita game at gamescom last year.

I have no idea ! Will definitely buy it when it's out. There are a few PSP games I want to try at the moment (e.g. Valkyria Chronicles 2, Peach Walker, Monster Hunter, ...). So I'll go ahead and check them out first.

If this is true, changing my preorder to the FEB is a for sure thing.

Here you go, I paid $9 for it after a few trades......price was $34.

It's not a stylus in the sense of what you think. Quite advance piece of tech[It has a button on it]. You only need it for writing down notes or drawing on screen. It also uses its stylus in completely new ways, letting users jot notes no matter what is on the screen.
You can use the device like very other touchscreen android device.

Thats cool, but if you were interested in tablets/phones apple is the way to go for games. Android has many games, but not as many as iphone.

The screen protector I bought comes with film for the screen and for the touch panel on the back. I'll try it out and see how it feels, if I hate it I'll just take it off. I've heard it scratches easily though, which surprised me because it looks pretty sturdy.

May I ask what screen protector you purchased? I'm looking for one that protects the back touchpad and I'm thinking about buying the Sony screen protector for it (they're both basically the same size, right? the back touch pad and touchscreen)

The ones on ebay are the reusable ones that are pretty hard, I don't like those.

I wanted one of these but they launch in March here and the cheapest one is $250.

Sorry Sony, but only 1. Especially given I'm likely to sell my soul to Rogers to get an Xperia S once that launches here...

Does the screen and touch pad scratch up easily or something? I've seen a lot of talk about protectors.
From what I've read, the screen doesn't scratch very easily but it is a major fingerprint magnet. I'm hoping a screen protector would help eliminate that somewhat.

I think I decided on the Hori Vita Face Cover for my case.

It's cheap ($13 from Amazon), doesn't really bulk it up and basically turns the vita into a clamshell which is awesome.

I had the Hori version for the PSP, which I quite liked. I ended up taking it off because the plastic screen cover developed some annoying microscratches. Probably had it on for a year or so though.

I tried one out and loved the hardware but ultimately, I think I'm going to hold out until at least Persona 4 is released. I may possibly wait until a MH game is released.

I liked Gravity Days and Know I'd love Wipeout but I can't justify getting it just for those.

Anyone have a link to the Sony screen protectors dual pack (can't find them on Amazon UK)? I still think I might prefer the Hori, but the ability to apply it to both front and back is tempting.

Thanks for the answer

two last questions:

1- Is this screen protector glossy or matte? I ask because this confused me a bit: "our barriers even incorporate anti-glare so you don’t have to worry about glaring light sources"

2- I'm sure you don't know since you haven't received it, but will this screen protector be the one that's re-usable? the ones that are a bit thicker.

PDA's used them and maybe I am thinking early 2000's smartphones. But as of today any phone with a stylus is beyond stupid imo.
If the stylus was the ONLY means of input I'd mostly agree, only mostly because there is something to be said for providing options. However, a phone that can do both like this seems brilliant to me. Best of both worlds, especially if the stylus isn't restricted to notes and doodling. Helps it sounds like it has a large screen though.
