Speaking of ethereal blade, i've seen morphlings with that item. Is it really that good? I usually go for EoS :S

It was amazing when Ethereal Blade dealt 3x damage of your agility, its still pretty good now. (2x) Usually you would want Manta, great item on Morphling. EoS is a good compliment to Morphling since he benefits nicely with stat items, but in terms of priority I would go for Manta first. Illusions = more damage and confusion.

I had no idea some of the names were changed.

Furion = Tequoia
Vol'jinn (Witch Doctor) = Zharvakko
Kel'thuzad (Lich) = Ethreain
Anub'seran (Nerubian Weaver) = Skitskurr (Weaver)
Rexxar (Beastmaster) = Karroch
Kael (Invoker) = Invoker (no real name)
Leoric (Skeleton King) = Ostarion
Alleria (Windrunner) = Lyralei

This is all the more reason I wish they would show both names used for the heroes more clearly. I know breaking the habit of calling Nature's Prophet Furion is tough, but the newer mass of players are only going to know him as Tequoia or "Nature's Prophet" eventually.

My Lich is, admittedly, fucking trash LOL. In case you haven't figured it out, I never play hard lane solos like Lich/Windrunner.

We needed a hard lane solo and Clockwerk was out of the question. And I didn't feel like playing Dark Seer again, like every scrim. Still. Now that first blood I gave to Luminous will forever be accessible to anyone via his stream.

Facebook lich. Also, iirc raw had no cs mid aside from a few ether shocks LOL

I really don't agree with the wiki's staffs opinion on that one, since his name is clearly Carl in the voice files. I'm not sure if they actually play in game though.

Edit: Looking at the patch notes when the game was in closed beta, I wonder if Valve played with S2's "You start with a courier" idea

December 17, 2010 patch
"Flying courier now upgrades the automatically created courier."

Also, I would expect tutorial mode to be enabled in the test version, since Valve had a 'working' version of it back in may.

May 26, 2011 Patch
Added Tutorial Mode

Also, that patch that added the Unreal Announcer

June 24, 2011 Patch
Thanks to our friends at Epic we now have the classic Kill Announcer sounds in the game!

Carl was a "punny" name in w3 dota, like how NA would sometimes be aNoobseran, axe would be Mogul Khant touch this, etc. etc.

Carl was nothing more then a nod at that, and yes he does yell "CARL!" at times. But no, its not his real name.

Some of those are under Blizzard's copyright.

It is now. Can't be Kael! That's a Blizzard character. Carl is a great name. Suck it.

I hope we don't have to wait until August for International II. The confirmation that it's going to be in Seattle has me hyped, given that it probably means that the bulk of the games won't take place during the middle of the night. The first International was basically my first meeting with Dota in general, I went in curious but skeptical. Long story short, the first showing of D2 blew me away. Pulled more than a few all-nighters to watch the excitement and hype build, it was also great having Gaf here to chatter with. Can't wait to do it again this year!

Oh yes, I still remember seeing the hero selection screen for the first time. It was by far the most giggidy moment I have felt in a long time. All the voice work, the graphics, the animations, nothing short of amazing.

And now we're waiting for Valve to surprise us with their next patch :) Can't believe it's been 5 months.

The International 2 will happen when the game is 'finished'. What better way to promote a new game than releasing it on the same date as its largest event?

CONGRATUlATIONS!
YOU HAVE BEEN INVITED TO PLAY DOTA 2

I kinda feel bad that I had Dota2 in my library for maybe weeks, but didn't know because I don't have internet in my apartment.

Anyway, do you think that Valve will implement in-game 'channels' (with monetizing options for casters)

Random thought: Dota 2 should have bot game matchmaking (ala LoL) when the playerbase gets large enough and can support multiple modes. It would give like minded newbies a chance to play in games in a somewhat stress free environment.

So on the main title screen, the number above regions, is that number of matches, servers or players currently playing in that region? I'm only curious because it seems like out of 10000 people on last night, maybe 1/5 or even less were actually playing.

I SO need a Mac version. I lose so much functionality when I switch over to Win7. Mail alerts, multiple desktops, fonts, apps, browser tabs and windows. and just the inconvenience of shutting everything down.

*sigh*

Cool TDS. I got you on Steam dont I? We should play something anytime soon.
Yeah you got me on steam but I'm a total noob :(
I have some time to play I think on Sunday night. Just send me a pm on Sunday night if you can play :)
Are you from the Netherlands? I'm guessing they roll them out regionally then
Jap Netherlands here, maybe its Regional but I also applied for the beta at gamescom 2011 so that is some time ago.

Anyone thinking we might get 2 heroes this week? I'm thinking Bane and OD given guesses for previous weeks, but I'd like to see how Dirge would play too.

I wish i wasn't at work :(
I need some dota action

Ever since I've gotten into the beta, I've had DOTA 2 on my mind 24/7. I've definitely spent more time reading guides and watching games than playing though (got 9.75 matches under my belt- the .75 match being one where our team pretty much was attacking the ancient at this point and the server crashed... ).

Yeah. i think I spend more time talking about it and watching it than playing it haha. Played a bunch this weekend though. I just always miss out on mumble

Looks like my account just got approved :3.

Here's to hoping for test client tonight. All these new invites makes me think that the next update is going to be big.

OSX users: I decided to try booting my bootcamp install in Parallels 7. Don't know why I didn't before. Works perfectly*.

*slightly reduced framerate. maybe 25-30fps. could be because of OSX apps I have open. I haven't tried to get the most out of this yet. just glad it works.
