Double Fine Adventure Kickstarter project by Double Fine [ended, $3.3 Million funded]

Just did my bit!
They're already at $160,000 with about $5,000 per minute.
The video was fantastic, it'll be worth the money just to watch the update videos and go along for the ride.
Could be a big kick-in-the-ass moment for the industry?
How will it all end?

I'm sure if you paid enough he would arrange it. Maybe even dressed as a pirate.

welp i am not a fan of the pirate games, i hated the puzzles. I'm probably going to get the 35 dollar fun pack, and hope that it's not a pirate point and click. Also loved manic mansion but hated pirates.

Just for recording purposes it's at $160K already.

So is the money charged on March 13? Will have a bit of time to decide to move up the ladder or not if that is so

Not so much they go out of business as it would be they fall out of the spotlight and just make Kinect games forever. And I would be vindicated as I imagine that's a fate worse than me not getting a good game with my 30 dollars.

I don't expect it to be bad at all though. I love these guys.

I'm not sure you know what "vindicated" means.

Sorry to be the only skeptic in this lovefest.

Skeptical of what? Do you think they're going to skip town with our money?

"I doubt such a scheme like this would be ultimately viable for Double Fine. This will probably end up being more trouble than it's worth"

^That is being a skeptic.

"THEREZ A SUCKER BORN EVERY MINUTE LOLOL"

^That is just being a troll.

Is there any ROI on this, or is it exclusively an act of giving them money because we want to see the game happen?

Difference between $50 and $250 from me.

Seriously bumping the thread up is only getting more people to look at it and donate more money.

Trying to fight for whatever you believe in instead is the best use of your energy, rather than trying to spoil this thread with negative thoughts.

Do you think Tim Schafer is going to ride into the desert with everyone's money or something?

This is a unique opportunity to show publishers that we as gamers WANT studios to take risks and make different types of games rather than getting the same recycled Call Of Duty garbage.

Signed (with $30)

Great idea Tim!

Business oriented people seem to never understand that people that don't have careers based on money are not motivated by money. They are motivated by their passion.

Artists, teachers, creators, muscians don't try to get better because it will make them more money. They try to get better because they love what they do.

In fact, having to deal with the world of business often only makes their craft WORSE not better.

Are you honestly knocking a service where people donate to get something made?

You just now posted in the Free Sequence thread.

Dear lord.

Looking at his twitter posts, he seems to hate Kickstarter for some reason.

Also this one is pretty funny
First copy double fine sells puts them in the green. Very skeptical of all their "goodwill."

transitive verb
1. obsolete : to set free : deliver
2. avenge
3. to free from allegation or blame
4. to maintain a right to

I don't mean to keep doing this, but how would seeing Double Fine lose money or go out of business relate to this avenging?

Telltale's already doing that.

Telltale should start an internal Kickstarter to pay us back for their crimes against Jurassic Park.

I put my $15 in. I hope this makes up for the time I borrowed my friend's copy of Grim Fandango. Also, I hope it makes up for me only paying $2 for Psychonauts.

From those premium rewards, I get the picture that Ron Gilbert is in this. If so, it's immediate 30 USD donation from me instead of just 15 ( I Know I'm cheap, but as a poor student that's the best I can do)

Guys! Guys! What if...

Tim went insane and evil and is going to get all of this money and run away and then give it to EA, and then EA and Activison join forces and create games that kills people and puppies and then they get enough money and then take over a country and their army and then like they start making a super-army of bros and mass effect fanboys and then they invade other small countries and then they join forces with North Korea and Al-Qaeda and Obama is the main leader and everyone dies. :-(

btrain87 is a goddamn prophet

I never played Full Throttle :(. I do have the disk though....wonder if that would run. My donation will make up for my blasphemy.

I can't bite on a game site unseen just because it's got a big name behind it. I fear this isn't going to be as ground breaking as everyone seems to think.

Dude, it's $15. Was the hamburger and coke you got at Chili's groundbreaking? Who cares, let's make it rain and see what happens. This is a cool experiment.

We give money, get bad game. Bad game means bad press for financially unstable company, leads to their demise. Our revenge for their supposed abuse of our kickstarter donations.

I wasn't being serious in any case.
