Quick update, not sure if this was posted earlier...

Downloading Peace Walker to the PS3 and then transferring it to the PS Vita seems to work. It's copying right now. I'll post an update when its done copying

And last update...

Peace walker works fine. So even if the game is not on the Vita store, it should work.

I think this is basically a case of the PSN Vita store not being completely updated as anyone who still wants the game can buy it on their PS3/PC and simply transfer it over.

Apologies if this has already been discussed..

Can the wifi only vita pull location data from a tethered cell phone or mifi, to sub for the GPS data provided directly on the 3G version? Are there currently any Japanese games or apps to test this with?

The GPS data is readily available to any device tethered on most phones, there are many posts regarding this topic in relation to wifi iPads.

This would be the final nail in the coffin for the 3G vita to me...

Awesome news. Assumed the import system owners tried this last night but it's a possibility they did and this is a roadblock with Japanese Vitas accessing content off US profiles or transferring from US PS3s.

If the PS3 workaround works fine for North American Vitas, I've got no problems. Will be able to get Valkyria Chronicles 2 and other titles over to our new toys this way.

it's a handful of days from launch and they still haven't compiled a proper and updated list of compatible games for us yet? what about those of us that want to trade in our psps for credit toward the vita? if most of my game library is still unknown on compatibility then I don't feel okay with trading it in yet.

What do you mean? Every PSP game that could work on PSV must be on PSN, so just being there doesn't indicate if it'll work does it?

FFIV is already on the PSV PSP store apparently, according to the list is what he means. Thank goodness, because that and Tactics Ogre are two PSP games that I have to get.

--

I second the need for unboxing NA PSV vids. I need something to make it through the next 13 days.

Oh, my mistake, excellent news. I'd love Tetris to work, but I'm not holding my breath, EA don't even allow it to be played on PS3, I'm guessing that'll go for PSV too.

Just to clarify: dies Sears Canada currently have the vita on shelves now?
Haven't heard from anyone that's placed an order there about it shipping out. Yet anyway. They're certainly baiting for attention with that "In Stock" status for their Wi-Fi units. If any online retailer is going to be oblivious about street dates, Sears.ca seems highly likely.

As for it being on physical "store shelves" nobody has reported that yet.

I'm actually quite curious about this. Has anyone compared the speed of memory card loading to game card loading?

Yep, there was a youtube vid with the differences. But the difference was 1 or 2 seconds (game card faster than memory card) on a long loading, so they're nearly the same speed.

Aaaand a quick picture while the firmware updates. Sorry for the quality.

Quick question. Is this the Canadian FEB bundle you got a week early or is it the regular WiFi model you got 2 weeks early? If it is the feb, can you post pictures/impressions of the case?

Yeah, they've certainly got my attention. With the broken street date... I wonder if they'll start popping up in stores this week. If they do, I'm calling a few Canadian friends of mine.

Vita Wifi just arrived from Amazon.ca, yay for broken street dates!

... Aaaaand I'm now jealous. Ok, First, Canada gets to buy all available games early from Gamestop/EBGames. Now, Amazon.ca ships out Vita units. What the F. To that I say, congratulations, on the flip side, I temporarily dislike my current residency.

2012/02/09 08:46 CALGARY Item out for delivery

i'm very giddy right now!

I guess the FEB people in Canada really do get their excessive money's worth. To that I say, congratulations, on the flip side, I temporarily dislike my current residency.
amazon shipped the regular wifi version due out on the 22nd, not the first edition bundle.

In that case you are g2g. Just need to make Japanese account (plenty of guides on the Internet), and buy points card for Japanese PSS.

some downloadable games are completely account locked.

i use Aus account, and i have a JP Wipeout demo, the demo is completely locked on my Aus account, it keeps telling me to redownload and activate... some demos like Virtua Tennis, Shinobido work fine though (just a warning that trophies will be disabled)

I just visited my Amazon.com account, and part of me died a little knowing that my order still hasn't shipped, and that Amazon.com (US) won't break the street date. I can practically hear people up north sharpening their ice skates preparing to defend their Vitas.

I'm seriously tempted to upgrade to the FEB. I've got nothing to play and have been thinking about picking up a 3DS just to mess with until the Vita drops.

But I don't want a 3DS. or little deviants. or the 4GB memory card. or 3G. I kinda want the case though. Gah.

Apparently my local EB Games got memory cards and accessories in today. I'll have to go after work. The website stock indicator says "low stock" though!

Too bad only Sony first party games are available. I'd like to pick up BlazBlue and Lumines.

Ok finally put in my last order for my Vita launch:

PS Vita 3G (£244.97)
Vita Starter Kit (£14.50)
16GB card + Fifa 2012 (£64.94)
Everybody's Golf (£16.00)
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (£18.50)
Wipeout 2048 (£5.00)
Virtua Tennis 4 (£29.86)
Ridge Racer (£14.95)
Lumines (£5.96)
Rayman Origins (£5.96)

TOTAL - £420.64

I AM READY!

Is there a consensus on which case is best?
I was just going to get the official travel pouch one, but if someone can recommend me something better, I'm all ears.

Hmm, I didn't realize so many games were not compatible with the Vita. I'm really disappointed that Dracula X Chronicles isn't available. :( That was one of my most played games. No EXIT, no Killzone, no Thexder Neo, no Gradius Collection, no Megaman Powered Up, no Darius Burst (though that was never available in the US to begin with).

At least it appears Megaman X and Ultimate Ghosts 'N Goblins will work.

Of course, I'm still not sure how these games will look on the Vita screen. The upscaling artifacts may remove my interest in this feature anyways (plus I still have three PSP systems). Still, the fast refresh rate and great contrast of the OLED screen seems like it would be awesome for some of those games. I think 2D games would look especially nice.

That's where I'm at. There's actually quite a few PSP games I would love to play on the Vita, just waiting to hear how well the upscaling is handled. I would love to enjoy Ghosts N' Goblins on the Vita screen.

I believe someone here was going to test Prinny to see how well it looked.

(Was Dracula X available as a digital purchase?) I totally forgot I even had that game.

Pretty damn excited for Lumines on the Vita. That was the only game that I paid full price for (the rest I bought used), and I didn't regret it one second - even if I did suck at the game. Soundtrack was great, puzzles were fun, and people were jealous of me having a PSP and playing this game back in 2006. Good times.

What exactly are you looking for in case? Theres a bunch of options but, imo, some of the nicer ones come from PDP.

Pull and go Folio - Large case, holds 23 games and 2 memory cards total, has a smaller case velcroed inside that will hold 4 games. I have the 3DS version and its very good.

Vita Custom Crystal Case - This is the one I preordered because its similar to the Logitech Playgear Pocket for the PSP and I loved that case. It also holds 8 games and 2 memory cards and has customizable inserts to fancy it up some if thats your thing. Early impressions say its kinda bulky.

dammit.

Canada getting everything.

Free Uncharted with the FEB at Best Buy

Now two weeks early on the WiFi unit.

....argh. Well that's cool at least someone got it.

How are you getting these games so cheap? Do you have store credit somewhere?

Amazon.co.uk had those prices back in January and still haven't cancelled them (fingers crossed)

I've never played a Lumines game. Is it worth buying at launch or should I wait for a price drop?
Lumines is an incredible game. But I'd be hard-pressed to advocate buying ANY Ubisoft game for any platform at launch given their prolific tendency to pricedrop everything and anything they release 2-3 months later.

As for cases, I'm not especially thrilled with most of the offerings right now.

I picked up the official case yesterday but it's hardly robust.
The FEB case looks sweet based on promo pics but that may not be the case in the wild.
The PDP case strikes me as way too big/bulky given all of the first-hand impressions we've seen.
The Pull-N-Go would be sweet if I wasn't going full digital. I love my case for the 3DS but it's just too excessive for the Vita.
The Thrustmaster VIP case is the one I like the most but it seems impossible to order outside of Amazon UK.
I wonder if there are nice cases on Play Asia that we could import.

What is the issue with gradius collection?
No issue with Gradius Collection. It's just not up on the Vita Store yet.
Should be transferrable to a North American Vita through the PS3 if you've already purchased it or buy it new given what we know now.

Does anyone know if this Hori protective screen is glossy or matte? I can't see the answer anywhere on that page.

Probably Amazon.co.uk, they had Ubisoft games for that price for a couple of days. I'm still kicking myself for not taking advantage because I thought they wouldn't honor it.
