Whitney Houston has died

Shit man.

Just last week I read that she was with Ray-J and I was wondering how did they manage to get together, heard about her again tonight before going to get a nap, my sis wakes me up over Skype and asks me if I heard that Whitney died, looked and say Twitter blew up about it.

Man, the greatest female vocalist of all time. She could have retired like a true queen if it weren't for drugs. Fucking hell.

R.I.P. Whitney.

I think what hits people that grew up listening to her is that she was soooo squeaky clean in the late 80's and early 90's. She was a pretty big "role model" to a lot of people. Watching her crash and burn these last 20 years or so was crazy. I don't think some younger posters get that.

I get it for the most part. I grew up with mid and late 90s mostly - drug addled but still fairly productive, and still with a wonderful voice.

Her talent was ridiculous.

Indeed. It feels like the industry didn't want her back from what I could see. It's ultimately her choice, but to let a star run so far off the rails without any concern?

The music industry is beyond a wreck at this point, anyway. I don't know many who would go back to the good ol' days. They're gone forever, so now artists soldier on through fan support.

Damn, I did not expect to read this. I know she had problems, but I thought she was doing better. I wonder what the cause of death was. :(

It should be noted that this was actually prerecorded, as most national anthems are due to the crazy amounts of interference caused by the monitoring in the venue.

So she was lipsyncing - but she did sing it and there were no other tricks.

Nah, it ultimately makes it even more tragic that they couldn't overcome it.
 
It is always sad to see a talented person die so young.

At the same time, she had the chance to deal with her issues and she had the money and she didn't.

Yea compassion for exactly that reason. She was a human being who deserved no less than that, a little basic understanding that she was a human being with human failings who was far from perfect. She fell into a hole that a lot of people just cant get out of.

What if it was a relative of yours? perhaps a brother, sister or cousin who had the world at their feet and pissed it all away because of some poor life choice's. Would you feel the same way?
