I just thought we really needed them since Pudge was roaming like a motherfucker and always getting those runes.
It's a definite truth that sometimes you've teammates that don't know better or are plain indifferent, and you're more or less stuck. At that point, shelling out 200 gold for personal wards to watch runes or your flanks for ganks isn't crazy in the slightest. On hard carries I'll pretty much never do it early (given how precious that early gold is), but even on something like a Mirana I groan inwardly because it tends to delay important damage items or the like. Easy to be a touch resentful when you see that Lich rolling on 2 bracers with allll that gold he's saving. Or heaven forbid, a Dagon.

Mm yeah, I will. Always forget about it when I'm playing, heh. One abandon isn't enough for permanent low-priority queue or anything, right? I doesn't even seem like I'm in low-priority anyways.

I think it tells you when you are in low-priority and how long for.

I'm nearing 500 games played and have 4 abandons, never been put in low priority queue.

Probably a percentage of games played vs. abandoned.

Me and my friend just had a game where about the 10/15 min mark our 3 other team members left. We finished the game 2 vs 5 while microing the other 3 heroes and defending our base till around 30 minutes and got about 10 kills as well because they kept splitting up.

Was funny as fuck.

Had a game earlier today where someone paused it on this:

022FE736672809875ECA3DE4BBA9F14C2F1E1AE5

Poor guy.

Anyone wanna play with me? I'm getting sick of 1-2 people constantly leaving on my team which leads to my defeat.

ID is BHK3.

In one of the games I played tonight, the other team was made up of 5 hard carries. Our team was pretty balanced with actual support and ganking heroes. We won in less than 25 minutes, gotta laugh at pub games sometimes.

I'm a hardcore HoN player and i recently got a chance to play a few games of Dota 2 and i can't believe how disappointed i was in the game. For so long there was a HoN meme known as "Dota 2 will fix it" but now i think that meme should be changed to Dota 2 will break it :(

My main gripes are as follows;

1. UI is a bit dodgy, not as clean and crisp as HoN's or even LoL's.

2. Audio cues, this game seems to lack any sort of obvious audio cue that i've now come to appreciate as being incredibly important in HoN. In that game you KNEW when devourer was casting his ulti, casting a hook, when deadwood threw a punch or a stun or when witch slayer used his silver bullet. In Dota 2 the audio cues are so subtle that it's really had to listen and know what's going on.

3. Press 'level up' to level up, really? :(

4. S2 games, to their credit have made improvements to the game, no more rune at 0:00 and only 2 buybacks. Dota 2 has gone backwards in this regard without these additions.

5. Hate the shop. :(

6. No concede option? What's up with that?

7. Grey/black fog of war on a map everyone knows...i really like the fact there is only a grey fog of war. :)

For the reasons above i am really disappointed in Dota 2 as it stands, if one thing could be addressed it's the audio cues. But until a whole bunch of this stuff is done i think i might stick with $2 and HoN...

You'll learn the audio cues for this game, don't worry.

3. Press 'level up' to level up, really? :( I guess this was to emulate Dota 1, I bet they'll eventually have an option to have it HoN/LoL style eventually.

4. S2 games, to their credit have made improvements to the game, no more rune at 0:00 and only 2 buybacks. Dota 2 has gone backwards in this regard without these additions. Don't really see the issue with either of those things.

5. Hate the shop. :( Enable "shop always uses hotkeys". It works wonders. Once you know where everything is, you can just hotkey to it in the shop.

6. No concede option? What's up with that? Don't get us started on this debate. :P

7. Grey/black fog of war on a map everyone knows...i really like the fact there is only a grey fog of war. :)

There are some issues that need to be fixed, but this is still a beta. I definitely like it better than HoN. As a whole, the game looks a lot cleaner, and HoN always looked too dark, with similar colors everywhere.

There are plenty of audio cues and you can level up easily by using ctrl+whatever skill hotkey. Are you really saying that you don't know when Pudge is casting his ulti?

Pudge's ulti and hook are loud as hell. I'm pretty sure you can hear it through fog as well iirc, same with teleports.

As for the black fog of war, it's specifically to block teleporting to unexplored locations, which could play a big role in the very early game.

Nature's Prophet case in point here.

How do the strength, intelligence, and agility growth numbers work?

Each hero has their own unique stat gain. I recall that Terrorblade (not yet out for Dota 2) has the highest agi gain per level. So every level, the hero auotmatically gains his/her respectable stat gain points for str, agi and int. Plus you have the option to increase +2 stats per lvl.

To know what each stat point actually does, just hover over that stat next to your hero portrait:)

So for example, Pudge gains 3.2 strength every time he levels?

Hold the phone......you can't blink into an unexplored location?!

Not with a blink dagger at least, I'd assume the same is true for the blink skill.

Interestingly you can blink into unexplored territory if you click explored territory (ie there's unexplored territory between you and explored territory).

Anyone up for some early Dota gaming?:) I realized team matchmaking is a lot less stressing than solo! I'm going to probably get on in about an hr.

Anyone know how to unbind middlemouse = camera pan? I find myself using it when I want to practice only using the sides of the screen to camera pan

Not sure how the removal of the 0 minute rune is a good change, and buybacks are on a 5 minute cooldown and I don't see the issue with their being no limit. All HoN does is make people save them for late game, with Dota you see people using them much more aggressively.

I have been playing League of Legends for the past three months, and i'm loving it. I however got a beta key for Dota 2 this week and tried it for the first time yesterday. And i feel soo lost. When i started playing LOL i read up on guides from solomid.net and mobafire.com. That really helped me focus on learning the game when i had help with item builds and so on.

Are there any decent alternatives for Dota 2? Right now learning the new map, all the heroes, the completely different shop mechanics and all the items are prooving to be too much for me. I'd like to start with just focusing on what all the different heroes do and with learning the map.

This game has been in closed beta for quite a while. Do people in the beta think it's in a shippable form at the moment or are there a lot of things that still need fixing?

There is still stuff that is not yet implemented. Socialize tab is empty at the moment and some of the options like color blind mode does not work yet. Monetization features are also not in yet, that is kind of a crucial thing to have. They also talked about having some sort of coaching features and stuff that encourages good behavior, that stuff is not in yet.

Not shippable. The basics and balance are there, because all they had to do was bring it from Dota all stars. But some of the basic items you would think would be in a valve game need improvement or are not there.

There isn't a tutorial yet. They can't ship without that. Too many people have zero understanding of the game, jump in, get destroyed and have a terrible experience.

Once that is in, they could ship it as a free-to-play game to lessen the expectations of a finished product.

Is there any sort of secret to getting a ward trap with Shadow Shaman? Or is it just click on the enemy hero and hope they aren't moving.
