Ugh, that reminds me of when I worked at Gamestop for the PSP launch. We were basically told by the DM that we need to sell at least 2 accessories or get 2 reserves per purchase, or face repercussions if we don't.

I handled the launch, and pretty much sold nothing that wasn't asked for. When the DM questioned me as to why, I asked him if he bought his PSP that night at his local GameStop. He said yes. I asked him how many accessories he bought with it. He said none. I just got up and walked out on him at that point. It also helped that after that, we were both up at the counter, and someone came in to reserve a few games, and actually thanked me for not pushing products down his throat, and getting him in and out as soon as possible, so he could go home and enjoy his system.

God, I hated that job. But, I also really didn't care about it, except for always giving good customer service.

Exactly what I would have done, fuck employers making me have to treat the customers like shit. This may be why I have always had good customer service reports from customers, I dont do anything corporate asks me to do.

Right, but why would I cuddle up on the couch with a 5" little screen when I have a 55" plasma just begging to be used? I dunno. I'm having a hard time picturing a situation where I'd actually use it.

Right, but there are certain games you can only play on that 5“ screen.

Hard to justify most luxuries though. :)

put in a good 50 or so hours on the Vita playing MH3rdP and a few other games and everything looks fine to me.

I prefer the look of the "vita palette" (you can force the PSP palette in the options to make it more accurate/negate some blue tint effect (don't remember the details))

Thanks, that's gonna help me with my decision on which memory card to get.

I saw this info at one point, but can't find it again.

How many pages of games can you have on the PS Vita? I'd like to get the correct number of backgrounds.

Wit what? Are we talking about the PDP Crystal Case here? Cuz what you're saying doesn't apply if so.

He said the "CT Crystal Case" and mentioned using it with a screen guard, so I think it's one of those polycarbonate shells. The PDP case is the only carrying case with "crystal" in the name AFAIK.

I was interested in the PDP Crystal Case initially, but now my goal is to buy a FEB case off of someone, or get the PDP V.I.P. case as plan B.

My local gamestop (canada) only has the 4GB and 32GB
I want the 16GB myself, hopefully they get shipments of those before the 22nd...

Handheld games have come a long way really quickly. Once the system is in your hands, put on a good pair of headphones and immerse yourself. Your experience is going to be every bit as enjoyable as a console or PC game irrespective of screen size. Case in point, I've played and enjoyed far more Resident Evil: Revelations recently than anything on my 42" screen.

I guess that just doesn't matter to me as much as it must to some of you. I don't have the time to play every game I want; I still have a huge backlog on PS360. I think I'd rather finally start the first Mass Effect than play through a mini version of Uncharted.

Yeah, definitely. That makes perfect sense. I shouldn't want a Vita. But.. fuck.

Oh, and this might sound like a really stupid question, but do screen protectors mean you avoid fingerprints allover the screen? That would be nice if so.

Your avatar's face used to be mine every time I shopped at a Gamestop. Now Amazon gets my business exclusively and my face has returned to normal.

Well, here's my plan for the Vita. Traded some of my Steam inventory (specfically, Skyrim + Witcher 2) for 100 dollars in Amazon.

3G launch Bundle
Uncharted Golden Abyss
FIFA 12
A carrying case.

Basically, with FIFA 12, I'll be set for a while as I'm a FIFA junkie and the train rides to school will be much easier. Uncharted is more for showing off than anything else and I'm a bit curious at the story as well.

I'm just wondering which cases can hold game cards and the usb chargers as well. If there no other cases that offer those features, I might just opt for the FEB bundle, but hesitating because of the drop from 4 to 8 gigs since I plan on putting some of my PSP Go games on my Vita. Hmm, anyway you guys think Uncharted is worth it or should I just go for another game?

Re quoting. lol

Heh, I'm just the opposite.
I play handhelds a lot more despite pretty nice 55“ tv and surround setup.

I have a ton of PS360 titles sitting on the shelf still sealed and hate that I will probably want a Wii U.

The Official Sony "Travel Pouch" can hold 4 game carts and has 2 mesh pockets that can hold the charger and USB cable. It might be a little tight if you put in the power cable too, but I haven't tried it myself. I don't have the FEB case, but it looks like they would have about the same amount of room for accessories.

I don't really like the travel pouch myself though. But I'm picky.

When I want to play a game, and my wife wants to use the TV

Most of the evening our TV is occupied (wife watching some rubbish or other), handhelds (or the PC, but I'm not much of a PC gamer) are great for filling that time slot. :)

I believe you can have 4 pages total.

it's 10 - and one of my complaints is if you have a load of PCE games or small PSP games and a 32 gig card then it's easily possible to go over your "page/icon" allowance before you hit your memory card size limit.

Bear in mind each PSV game (retail or download) will install a bubble onto the card/your pages so that needs to be taken into account as well.

So, 32gig card has 29 gig usable.

Say that there's 10 reserved bubbles that the OS uses (too lazy to get up and check) then that leaves you with 90 slots or so to use. I managed to hit the limit.

Do you think it isn't a bad idea to make games like Gravity Daze or Unit 13 compete with all the other launch games? 26 games at launch is quite a bit. Granted half of them probably aren't worth playing and half of the rest of them are games that already came out on consoles, but I can definitely see why they would hold some games back.

Lucky for you then that HSG is 25% off on Amazon.

I agree. I'm only picking up 3 Vita games, and 3 PSP classics. If they released all the titles I'm anticipating for the Vita, I would, realistically, have to pass up on most of them. Those titles ad up. Fortunately, by the time Gravity Daze/Rush and Unit 13 release, I'll actually be able to afford them, and I'll more than likely be finished with some of my launch titles and eager for more.

Not even looking to the future releases, I'm already passing up on a LOT of the launch titles I want: Shinobido 2, Ninja Gaiden, Wipeout, ModNation, Escape Plan, BlazBlue, UMvC3, and Motorstorm RC. That's a LOT of games I just can't buy on day one, but would definitely love to if I could.

I've experienced the launches of the NES, Master System, SNES, Genesis, PlayStation, Saturn, N64, PS2, Dreamcast, Gamecube, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and all the portables in between, but the Vita has the most impressive software launch lineup of all of them.

I usually find it a struggle to come up with 1 or 2 titles to pick up at system launch, but it amazes me that I actually have to cut back on the Vita launch. It's awesome.

So yeah, I'm glad Gravity and Unit aren't day one titles (although I probably would have made up some lame excuse to justify spending MORE money so I could get them).

They're slated for release 2 weeks after Vita launch, so it won't be a horrible wait.

But man, what a lineup. Lots of choice for gamers with different tastes. i'm truly impressed.

Two videos comparing the Vita and PSP screens from multiple angles: 1 & 2. Dat OLED man.

Wow. I knew there would be a difference, but the OLED outclasses the psp screen by miles. I am also very excited that there won't be ghosting on the vita screen, something that I was quite annoyed by on the psp screen.

So what happens if you download another game when you hit the limit? It forces/asks you to delete something else first?

I wish there was just a "Games" bubble that took you to an alphabetically sorted list of your games. Right now, it seems to just add bubbles to the first available slot and I have to organize it manually. Annoying when you have to span multiple pages since there's only 10 slots per page.

The OS uses 15 slots:
Welcome Park
Music
Videos
Photos
Content Manager
Friends
Group Messaging
Party
PS Store
Trophies
Maps
Remote Play
Browser
Near
Settings

Hopefully in the near future Sony will allow us to make folders to organize our content otherwise it will get very annoying if I have swipe ten pages to get to the content that I want to play.

Hi guys. I don't know if this has been answered yet but I preordered the Wifi version thinking that I would just be able to tether it to my phone. I understand that the near functionality would be usable this way so I was wondering what features will be missing that exclusively deals with the GPS?

bump for the needy :)

Hmm, I have the Hori screen protector pre-ordered at the moment, but I'm thinking of maybe changing to the official Sony ones. For an extra couple bucks, I get a second one in case something goes wrong the first time, and I'm not so sure about it completely covering the Vita. In a picture somebody posted awhile back, you could easily tell where the protector was on the Vita because it was less glossy than the Vita hardware. It made the hardware look pretty damn ugly. However, that could be fixed with some careful use of a razor blade, and I have had a Hori protector on my PSP for 4+ years now, and it's never given me any problems whatsoever. My other problem is the Sony ones come out tomorrow, whereas the Hori item doesn't come out till the 22, plus two days shipping. Can I get any opinions on this if possible?

So, I want to get a head start on downloading some games for the Vita before mine arrives on the 22nd, but I don't see where they are located on the US PSN store on the PS3?

"you must delete an item to create space" or some such message.

I actually haven't tried since the firmware update, perhaps it's changed ?

I'd also like a button that, when i go to my download list, ONLY shows me what i can install :/

This might be old but this video, a tad bit over produced has a really good overview of the Vita.

Some interesting bits here, especially if you're listening closely...

Around 3:50 (emphasis mine):
First party software titles will be available on the same day via Playstation Vita game cards at retail stores and digitally via the Playstation Network.

Around 7:15 (re: Content Manager):
This is a really important area, and one that we felt was best facilitated through a built-in mini-driver on the Playstation Vita that works seemlessly with both your Mac and PC
