GAF Plays: Mass Effect series (unmarked spoilers)

If all your crew dies then you do as well.

That's actually not true. I sent Morinth with Chakwas, they both were fine, but Shepard died at the end, I was like Wut? But no, you have to be with one loyal squadmate when you're running away.

Oh and I love Noveria, so many possibilities. Not just on the main station, but also where everyone is locked away. If I remember correctly there is the rude asari or the human that blocks your way depending on how you play. It's one of my favorite hub.

I would usually scam the hanar, and make the Krogan kill him. I hate those jelly fishes

What's the difference between synthetic and organic? I know The Geth are synthetic, is it because they're humanoid robots or something?

Seems like the encounter was bugged for me. I killed the first wave of female commandos, so her health dropped to half. A cutscene played, another wave appeared, which I also killed, leaving only her at half health. No one else spawned.

"Synthetics" are robots; geth, husks and security mechs (I don't recall if they are in ME1, but anyway). "Organics" are biological lifeforms; humans, krogan, asari, turians, rachni etc. If you put AP/Tungsten ammo to get damage bonuses against synthetics, that's good for killin' geth. But it's irrelevant when you're fighting organics a lot.

Yes that sounds like a glitch, which isn't surprising. Sometimes you can also get biotic pushed into the level geometry too, which forces a reload lol.

I have a quick question regarding the endgame save and DLC. Assuming I put off Arrival and LotSB until post endgame are other saves created for me to import or can I just manually create a save after the completion of said DLC that could be imported all the same?

Got a question about Miranda's loyalty.

I did Jack's loyalty mission and when I got back from it she and Jack and a little spat and I sided with Jack. Because of it, I've lost her loyalty. I've already done Miaranda's loyalty mission. Is there anyway to get it back?

Talk to her. There's another Charm/Intimidate option here, with slightly less stringent requirements. Intimidate is easier than Charm with Miranda, if I remember right.

I...don't think so. There might be another chance in the game but I remember having a high enough paragon rating to calm them both down.

You'll get another similar situation with another set of characters later too I believe.

Thanks guys.

The Reaper IFF mission is really annoying. All Husks and Scions. Sheesh. :/

I remember on my insanity run that part gave me hell.... Although for some reason I had a harder time with the horizon mission....hated that mission sooooo much on insanity.

Thanks guys.

For the Sentinel it is a walk in the park. On the Derelict Reaper I just finished I can literally stand for 10+ seconds not doing anything while being swarmed with husks and the shields still hold.

Reaper IFF essentials = shoot Husk legs, and make sure you've got plenty of anti armour stuff, as Scions are all armour. Cryo rounds are also invaluable as Husks freeze pretty quickly, preventing them from getting too close.

Dang ME3 demo has me thinking of doing more ME1/2 tonight rather than plowing through some more Amalur.....So many great games...so little time.

Yep. You could have 100% Paragon and the option still won't show up, probably a bug. It can appear if you do a side mission or something, or at least try going to one of the mall worlds and come back.

just re finished me1. Did a couple missions/planets every couple days for a good month. That ending gets me every time.

Moving on to ME2.

The fuck. Made it all the way through and right at the end I see a dead Tali. She wasn't in my party, I didn't choose her for anything, she just died on the way back to the ship. Guess I have to do the ending again and choose a different final team. It pisses me off that they don't let you take whoever you want at the very end without losing people. "oh you wanna use the team you've used all game? It's gonna cost you..."

Done ranting.

I discovered on my most recent play through that a fully upgraded Shockwave utterly decimates Husks.

Who were in your squad in the final boss and who did you send with the normandy crew?

Grunt and Garrus were with me, I sent Mordin with the crew. My party was usually Grunt and Mordin, but I read online that sending him with the crew is for the best. No big deal 'cause Garrus is awesome. I guess the game doesn't like Garrus and Grunt together. Just lame they force you into using certain people for the final battle. The rest of the ending is so awesome (outside of the Terminator).

Your front line was weak. IIRC, Zaeed, Garrus and Grunt are all the best in 'defending you' as shepard takes on the terminator.

With Mordin gone and only Zaeed 'holding the line' Tali is the next one who'd die

Yeah as Dany said, all the characters that hold the line have defense values (grunt, garrus and zaeed having the highest values and tali, mordin, and kasumi having the lowest) and you need to have a certain combined total to have everyone survive. Just reload your save if you still have it and swap either grunt or garrus for the final battle, you should keep everyone alive.

So i went to the Presidium in ME2 to meet Anderson for the 1st time. I noticed some Asari on the other balcony...and she has human(white) hands. :lol

So, I've been playing Mass Effect 2 in preparation for ME3 and I ran across something rather odd. I had long ago lost my ME 1 save, so I naturally assumed I would have to play through that again to import in ME2. But upon finishing ME 1, it turned out that my original character that I no longer had any saves of (in ME 1 or 2) was still importable. This all happened on the 360. Can someone explain what is going on here?

Every time you complete a Mass Effect career, it's retained on the storage device you completed it on, not tied to the in-game saves that you can delete.

I have like... Twenty-somethin' ME careers on mine. XD I know how to clear all that up(while retaining the careers I want), I'm just lazy.

[EDIT] - Please note, that this may not be the case for ME2 -> ME3. You may have to actually use an in-game save for the transfer utility in ME3... So keep it around. :D

I figured as much. Now I just need to figure out which of these two characters I want to take through ME 2.

Where did Shephard and the rest of the crew have to go in order for the Joker mission to occur?

I love that part, but I don't get the reasoning for Shephard to leave. My favorite part is when EDI tells Joker that in order to save the ship, she'll have to take control of it, then Joker replies with, "If you start singing Daisy Bell then I'm through." :lol

Edit: Still not a high enough Paragon to talk to Miranda. Fine then, woman. If you want to die on the suicide mission, go right ahead.

The Paragon/Renegade meters in ME2 don't make any sense, and deliberately so. It works on a "points out of maximum possible points" scale in ME2. Every world you visited counts towards the maximum points, but only after you visit it the first time. So the best way to boost your points is to not explore until you have a reason to be that place and sweep up all the points you can get.

That and getting the +100% Paragon/Renegade ability that all classes have in their class specific talent. That always helps, as well as having some points from a ME1 import.

Where did Shephard and the rest of the crew have to go in order for the Joker mission to occur?

On their next mission. In the game your team is supposed to be travelling with you in the drop ship every time you leave the Normandy. Only the game never really makes this clear, and in fact shows you the opposite at some points.

But yeah, essentially you went on your next 'mission', which could be Legion's loyalty mission, or even just landing on a planet, and the goes "OH YOU TOOK EVERYONE WITH YOU SURPRISE ATTACK".

It's pretty stupid.

Don't give her any roles, and leave her behind to "hold the line" as well as loyal Grunt, Garrus and Zaeed. She'll have a decent chance to survive.

Does anyone have info on ME1 mods? I didn't see anything in the first couple pages. I'm interested in graphics (for a 6850) and gameplay (not looking for extreme difficulty).

Finished up ME1, goddamn, that endgame so freaking good.
Up to ME2! Any idea's for the best bonus power for an adept?

Felt like playing ME2 again after playing the demo of the 3rd game.

Went to download the costume pack #2 since why not, I own everything else apart from that one.

xbl error, twice.

Billed twice.

No download :/

shitty xbl service why do I pay for this?

I prefered Stasis. Just putting 1 point into it is all you need to take advantage of the huge rag doll damage bonus once it wears off. Or if you want to use it for crowd control then Enhanced Stasis is what to use it for.

I'm just getting into Lair of the Shadow Broker since it's said to lead up to ME3, and I have to say, this is incredible. When you first land on the Brokers ship is quite possibly one of the most amazing settings I've ever seen in a game. How the hell did they get that skybox to look like that?

I have to say you don't have to have a loyal squadmate with you to survive the end.

You just have to have a love interest survive the final fight.

All of my team but Tali and Grunt died on a playthrough. I had no one with me running through thinking "Fuck this Shepard is dead." Behold! Tali was there with Joker! She saved that Shepard.

Im doing right now my perfect run for ME2 in insanity with my character to export to ME3. Also to beat all the DLCs finally, (Kasumi's one was amazing untill the boss fight, I eed to yet play Overlord and Shadow Broker, but Ive heard good things of both) and I added high resolution textures for the character and now look amazing.

I have some problems trying to get two achievements.
-The one of putting on fire armours (i only need 5 more it says but the number is not movin, as all the ones I did were from my first playthrough). Im always using the fire ammo and attaking all kinds of enemies, but the achivement doesnt add anymore.
-Hitting guys and killing them (this one had 0 from my first playthorugh), im trying all kinds of hitting and killing, but the damn achivement is still in 0.

Someone that can help me? PC version here.

I need to replay this game since I just don't like rocking renegade any more.

Anyone else wish more people commented on how fucked up your face is ala KOTOR and KOTOR2? I feel like there are no real consequences in your "everyday" life to going renegade. Nobody in your team calls you out for being a dick or anything like they did in KOTOR when you were falling to the Dark side etc. ...

I think you need at least two squadmates alive for Shepard to survive, so you can make a full party in the postgame.

I just finished the IFF mission. Tense as hell at a few points, but I didn't die once.

If you mean using fire to destroy an enemy's armor using Incinerate, it only counts if it finishes off the armor, not just if it hits. Fire ammo doesn't count, it has to be the spell.
