If you love the Vita so much then why don't you marry...oh. Well ok then.

Well, "good" doesn't want me to fork down $350 on a new console. Trust me, I want to. I really really want to buy it. I have the cash, that's not the problem. I just can't justify $350 to play games I can already play on my PS3 in better or equal forms, for less.

I avoided pretty much all JPN market info, so it's probably my fault for not knowing what the launch line-up was going to end up like overall.

I'm struggling to find 3 games to justify the purchase, and I can't find them yet. I'll probably just wait for the eventual $50 GC promos and get one then.

I really don't understand these arguments :). Don't buy it then! If the game that I really want to play gets 7 it's great! That's all I need to know. On the on other hand if the game that I have no interest in got 8 I still wouldn't care :). I'm excited about Vita because there are games that I want to play, not because those games got good scores.

Not sure I understand the logic here. It's not like the GPS is always on and by default drains the battery more than the WiFi model. It's an option and you can use it when you want to or not use it when you don't. Isn't it better to have the option if some game or app used it rather than to not have the option at all?

Using WiFi eats more battery than not using it, would you get one without wireless connectivity over the WiFi model if that option was available to you because of battery life? That seems to be what you imply by saying you're going WiFi over 3G cuz the GPS eats up battery.

The 3G model eats battery faster than the WiFi model, and using GPS is only going to add to that. I'm personally choosing to go with WiFi only because battery life is more important to me than 3G connectivity and GPS functionality, which I'm likely to never use anyway. Yes, I know they can be turned off, but since I'm never going to use 3G or GPS anyway, I might as well save the $50 and put it towards a larger memory card. Sorry if that wasn't clear, but is a combination of saving the money for a memory card and not paying for features I don't want or won't use.

And no, I wouldn't buy a unit without some kind of networking, as that is a ridiculous analogy. But that doesn't mean I won't turn off WiFi when not connected in order to save battery life, say when I'm on a plane or something.

The size of the memory cards isn't very surprising and/or impressive. I think Micro SD cards are even smaller.
The two are basically the same size. Vita cards are a little shorter but wider but they're very close.

every single journalist gave all the launch titles not that good of scores on metacritic
Eh, the scores aren't bad and there are still many games to review.

The launch lineup is still leagues beyond the 3DS last year (which was one of the worst launches I've experienced).

You can turn off 3G signals, you know that right?

Edit: didn't read the rest of the post...but it sounded like you were saying that 3G battery has a weaker battery than Wi-Fi.

I really don't care the reviews of the games I was going to pick up because I know I will enjoy them, I will be picking up Hot Shots and UMVC3 digitally, Getting a physical copy of Uncharted and Little Deviants with my bundle.

Again this doesn't make sense, only when you actually use 3G right? You keep making it sound like the 3G Vita eats battery faster than the WiFi model when as far as I know, that's not the case. You should be able to make it into a WiFi model simply by turning off 3G and GPS and all things would be the same. The wording you keep saying refers to the model, not the functionality as if there's something about the model that eats battery life more than just using the functionality.

It makes perfect sense to divert funds saved from a 3G model to apply it to other Vita items, but I'm just not understanding the battery life justification because you don't have to use them when you don't want to and then the battery life is the same. Let me put it another way, if the 3G Vita and the WiFi Vita were both $250, would you still get the WiFi Vita over the 3G Vita?

Yup. This is how I feel. GAF impressions are more meaningful to me than review scores, so I'll keep an eye out for the OTs and Vita review thread.

PSP's current state is partly because Sony completely failed to support it after PS3 launched. They only came back to the platform after PS3 stablized. By that time, homebrew has already replaced Sony in evolving PSP's library. The good PSP titles came too late.

They also failed to support PSP as a media device. The original media sync software was awful.

Plus, the single nub wasn't very good for many game ideas. DS's touch screen is superior, and it's cheaper and much better supported.

So PSP never realized its full potential.

I've had the PSP since its original launch, and I never stopped making this statement. So many of its features were half-assed. Vita already looks to be way out ahead of this, especially seeing how well the OS is designed.

Come on, Q?, work out the damn rights for the music in Lumines 1 and put it up on PSN already. Failing that, I hope to god they have a bunch of good download packs.

Will buy Vita day one. Also the Starter kit, memory card and a couple of games. I currently don't own a single console so I'm starved for gaming.

Probably will buy Uncharted, Rayman Origins and some other game.

I played little deviants at best buy and it was really not THAT bad I would give it at least 70 or 3 1/2 stars outta 5

I think the low scores for Little Deviants stem from it being over-priced at $30. I played the title and actually thought it was decent; but I still wouldn't pay $30 for it, and I'm the guy who just spent $506 on a handheld gaming device (3G model, 32GB card, Wipeout, Uncharted, and Travel Case).

Shinin' is still one of my favorite tracks from every iteration of Lumines. It's also the first song you ever play too.

I am struggling with the same exact problem as you, only I don't have a PS3 or any other PS except for PS1. Gravity Rush is a very strong factor that is making me gravitate towards getting a Vita.

Same here ! Eventually I used it more as a remote for my PS3, playing my DLNA song library. And occasionally a few games like Patapon, AC!D, Portable Ops.

My general feeling during a launch, any launch, is that if you are hyped for the system and then suitably psyched everytime you turn your hardware on for a few weeks to a few months after the system launches you can pretty much add 2 points onto any score.

Little Deviants, to me, has looked like a 6 from the start. And that's probably where the metacritic will end up (well, 50-60). Im totally geeking out over the Vita, Im also excited for some of the new stuff, like the back touch. I'm pretty sure the game will play like an 8 to me.

I don't think there is anything surprising in the vita review scores, for those of us that have been reading this (and prior) threads for weeks/months.

Modnation is offline and framey, but the underlining play is good.

Hot Shots is sub-native res and doesn't push the franchise forward.

Wipeout is fun but doesn't change the formula much and has long load time.

FIFA is more like FIFA 11 than FIFA 12.

Super Stardust is the game of the launch.

Uncharted was never going to be a naughty dog ps3-level uncharted game.

None of the things I wrote are surprises. And, if you are excited about any of those games, none of those things are going to ruin your fun in any way. But, those are the type of things that knock a few points off of reviews. Fine. Let them give 6/7/8s. Who cares? What really matters is that the games are what we thought they were, and fans of those games will be very happy with them.

Modnation got a 3 from one place. Will that stop me from dumping 50+ hours into it? Not a chance.

Friend sent me this:

http://gizmodo.com/5884292/playstation-vita-review-you-dont-need-another-beautiful-smart-gadget

I found the review to be ill-informed...Sounds like he's comparing the Vita to a smart phone. ?_?

Ultimate tease just arrived...Quoted for size.

Wow. So bad. How can you

a) Give it 3.5/5 review, yet in your conclusion recommend that you don't buy it.

b) Say that the only thing it does well is gaming, and seem to act so blissfully ignorant to ignore the fact that it's the devices main purpose.

Edit: Actually, what annoys me even more is that he mentions it's a gaming device, yet continues to review it like a smartphone. So so so stupid!

It's funny, the three sports I find most boring in real life to watch (soccer, golf, and tennis),are the games I enjoy playing the most. Can't wait to play Fifa,Hot Shots and Virtua Tennis!

I really wanted to go digital distribution only for Vita but Sony's online pricing has already changed my mind. I have been able to find most of the launch titles cheaper in store than they are on the PS Store, combine that with the current pricing of the memory cards and it just seems like a no brainer for the time being.

I hope they start pricing games on the PS Store more aggressively in the future or at least have some awesome Steam-esque sales. You'd think that without having to pay for the physical product, manufacturing, transportation, retail shelf space, etc. that there should be some significant savings to pass along.

Well, I'm getting Little Deviants for my son. He liked it when we visited the Vita Hill Club in SF. The title both of us look forward to is SoundShapes though. Simple and musical !

If you're looking for a Vita review that fixates on gaming, our pals at Kotaku have put together an outstanding one.

Like I would go to Kotaku.

Escape Plan is $14.99. Hmm.

Good thing the FEB covers that or another comparable game like Blob or even better, Motorstorm RC. Or just 10-15 in generic PSN funds.

I know we have a lot of comparitive screens about how small the memory cards are, but i don't know what else to do with myself so I made my own.

Fat thumb, small card.

Either that is a small card or you've declared it your new overlord and already proposed to it.

You just get out of the pool or something!??! :O

I can agree I would not pay 30$ for that game, it is not a type of game that really interested me for the launch titles, BUT im getting it for free so I will play it of course.

I don't understand the hate toward Little Deviants. Seemed like a little fun mini-game when I played it.

Some people factor in price. $30 for a tech demo you'll basically play for a few days is steep. Like if Nintendo charged $30 for Wii Sports (which some reviews would argue is a better game).

Any Monster Hunter Freedom United gameplayvideos on Vita hardware ?

That is why launch is such a great time to launch new IP, gamers are buying things they never would otherwise (for better or worse). Which makes it sad so many Vita games are from well-established IPs.

Agreed here. While it wasn't a new IP, when I bought my 3DS I bought Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars, a game I would have never bought otherwise, and ended up loving it. It was a brand new style of game for the Ghost Recon series and hooked me.

Exactly. Reviewers are going to totally sour over a game with a premium pricing that is essentially a simple minigame. If it was a $10-$15 downloadable on PSN the scores would be higher.

I was playing Blur yesterday and damn....Blur could be a great downloadable title for the Vita. Online is really awesome and the SP is pretty okay. The graphics would suit the Vita very well too. Although I'm hyped for new games, I'm really excited for some 'PS3 ports'

Btw...Is the franchise owned by Activision or did it go down the drain with Bizarre?

I think we all want new Blur. Activision holds the IP I believe but I'm not sure I trust anyone else with it.
