The Playstation Blog post today said something about needing Near to get the Platinum in Uncharted. ugh.

Really? Uncharted didn't have any near functions in Japan, far as I can tell (I beat it, etc).

And also to people talking about Shinobido -- for fans of the genre, the game was actually quite well received over here. It has a 4.5 on amazon.jp (I know amazon reviews sometimes mean shit, but yeah) with 32 reviews and a 4.67 with over 600 reviews on the PSN.

FYI - Amazon has release-day delivery back up for the First Edition Bundle

I caved :) or :( ?

Already sold the 4gb mem card and Little Deviants :lol

I just did a test.
I synced my trophies on my Vita. I got 4 added and my level went up to 83%. Looking at my PS3, I have 1530 trophies and I'm at 82%. So I log out and back in.
I now have 1534 trophies and 83% on my PS3.

So it does count the trophies. You just can't actually see them in the trophy list.

Nice. As long as it counts the trophies for the levels, I'm ok with it. It would be maddening to have two separate trophy levels and counts.

I'm assuming that eventually the Vita trophy lists will show up on the PS3 as well.

Stupid, but not as stupid as I thought.

I think it's pretty silly to not indicate what free PSN game you'll be getting on the box or marketing pics if they're not gonna let us choose. Shows how unprepared Sony is with these Vita plans.

I think I might go DD-only with the Vita, seeing as how Sony's handling the PSP's UMD games (no Passport feature for NA) - it'll probably be the safest route for future revisions/Sony portables. I'm thinking of getting a 32GB memory stick, but I'm not sure yet.

So basically, the PS3 is fully capable of reading the trophy info from Vita but Sony just haven't gotten around to write the interface stuff for it?

Geez. Software. You guys...

Tech question, would that even be possible? Or do they need to be sony certified or something? I might get the 8GB now then, and switch to a non Sony card down the line. Otherwise there is no use in passing up the 32 gb one if I can get it.

Unless sony releases the circuit board blue print, not really. The vita memory has sony's patented encryption with different circuit board and pin design than micro SD. I don't think we can even have adapter for this thing.

Stuuupid, thanks for answering though. We dont even get the 32GB at launch, so its not like I got a huge choice there, but still... very annoying.

okay

you guys have high expectations of sony

this is a company that had a broken ps3 clock for like 3 years

If I went DD only, I'd definitely pick up a 32 GB right from the start. I plan to do a mix of DD and physical under the expectation that Amazon will occasionally have games cheaper than on the PSN so I'm going with a 16 GB for now.

And no folders. With savegames sitting on the same screen as downloaded games. ARGH. Those design decisions are kinda maddening.

Is a 8 gb enough? Don't think I'll be downloading games much so it would just be for saves and SSD..l

Yeah. You should be fine. The Uncharted save is 6mb for example.

If it can't see my N network I'm going to rage. I pretty much stopped using my Go completely once I upgraded to an N+ router and it wouldn't work in my home.
Actually, I have it set up as 2.4ghz and a 5ghz one. It does see the 2.4ghz one. Sorry :P

Works with Wifi location for on a home network.

Yes, it does. Takes the Wifi hotspot positioning data.

Well it doesn't if you're on a wifi network, which is what I think he was asking. If you have a Wifi vita you can use near at your home. Right....?

One of their latest features was non-self-deleting install bubbles.

Yes. I believe using wifi just means your radius for Near will be even larger since they can't triangulate your exact position. That is arguably a good thing in my opinion.

They'd have to sell a licence to someone else to make them like Sandisk. No large company would both otherwise since they'd just get a lawsuit.

called it!

Actually, I think it just takes a certain position as starting point that it guesses then. And then you get a bigger range radius if you have less people around you, so that you more or less always have a few people on screen.

So, crowded area: shown area = 2 miles.

Non-crowded area: shown area = might scale up to 4,5 miles.

Thats what the Giantbomb dude said at least.

The smallness of the game cases actually make me want to get more physical copies.

The opening of the box and the apparent blank, vast and empty space made me not want to get physical copies. You don't even get manuals.

So is the SSD bonus for just activating the 3G feature or only for the launch 3G. Considering the FEB but if it doesn't come with SSD not sure if I want it over the 3G launch model.

That sounds like a smart way to handle things. I wish there would be a way to see what everyone in my city plays though. But I'm guessing a 7x7 mile radius isn't plausible.

But they're so cute in person. A little bigger than the size of a phone.

I'd avoid digital copies as much as possible. I remember my 16GB PSP Go only held my collection for so long, and if the Vita games are bigger in size...

Also, I kinda like the boxes.

Seriously tempted....but I dont want anything in FEB other than the one week early thing.

I dont need little deviants,4gb memory,or the hard case or even 3g version.

So I must resist....

There's no Virtua Tennis on Amazon??? What does that blacked out text say in the post above about Amazon and the FEB--I'm on an iPad and can't highlight...
