Given your situation it makes no sense to wait. Anyway, hope things go well at the hospital for you. :)

Yeah, that was definitely my initial thought. I just can't pick a game I think I'd want. E more the read about Uncharted, the more disappointing it sounds. Wipeout could have been good, but 50 second loading times? On a portable? :<

I've never tried hot shots, but if it's anything like Mario Golf, I bet I'd enjoy it. I wish Mortal Kombat was a launch title...

Concerning Fifa Soccer, do we know if:

1. Will it be possible to disable all touch controls (playing as it is in the home console version)?

2. Playing online, will it be possibile to play agains people with our configuration? I mean that not using touch controls I don't want to play against guys that use them.

1. It's possible to disable it.

2. No idea.

Exactly the same here. Most excited about Lumines since I've never given any of the others significant time, but I'm pretty cold on the rest. It's a fairly typical, port/sequel heavy launch.
Looking forward to catching up on some PSP games as well.

I totally loved Lumines on PSP and PS3.

Problem is I think the $40 price tag for the Vita version is crazy. I had it pre-ordered but then cancelled it and decided to spend the $40 on the 32GB memory card instead.

However now I'm thinking I do want Lumines afterall, but I don't know for sure lol...I see on Amazon I could still order it with 1 day shipping and get it by release day on the 15th...so tempting!!

/first world problems

For me, once launch hit my radar it was pretty simple. I'm a huge Lumines and HSG addict, and I can really never get enough of either series.

Also I've been a bit meh on iOS/Android gaming the past few months (outside of the awesome board games). A lot of the action titles are feeling same-y to me and the sports titles are just horrendous. Enter Vita where I get a totally different experience from what phones and even the 3DS are giving me. All that aside though, if it weren't for HSG & Lumines I would be waiting on the Vita. Vita with a launch lineup of 3DS quality I would definitely be waiting on.

I haven't gotten into Lumines since the first game. I tried to get into it again on PC and iOS, but just couldn't. I bet I'd be able to on Vita, though. Is it downloadable or retail?

Also, what's the appeal with HSG? Never tried it.

Yeah, I'd give it a miss at full price but it's £15 with an Amazon preorder in the UK. Not so bad.

It's retail, which means its also available online (all retail games are apparently).

And as you guessed earlier, it's somewhat similar to Mario Golf, yes. I'd wager you'll like it if you like MG.

So, Uncharted. I've only played the first PS3 one. Is it correct that it's set before Uncharted 1? I don't want any spoilers for 2 & 3 :)

Have there been any impressions of Ridge Racer? I know that game is stupid and terrible, but it's something of a guilty pleasure for me. And HSG sounds pretty sweet, especially if it's a little goofy, like Mario Golf.

Vita buyers: What's the main reason you're getting one? I'm really looking for any good reason to pull the trigger.

it is the first portable that can offer or even exceed home consoles possibilities, So gaming anywhere as if i was playing with my ps360 at home is something i really have been waiting for. I really think that RE revelations played with the CCP on 3ds is an awesome experience, like a home console one, so a system designed from scratch with that in mind can only improve on that.

Guess I should have said "what's a reason you're getting one *at launch*"

I definitely know why I'm gonna buy one... I fell in love with that thing the second I held it at E3. It's a sexy piece of hardware. :)
Getting one at launch, though, that's what I'm weighing...

Best thing about RR is the main menu, they should sell it as a stand alone product.

well, i have held FIFA 12 purchase to play it on the go, as i have 5 month twins and i only have 'fractions' of time to play. SInce they were born i have had almost no time to play, so vita just comes as god send. I have a 3ds too and portable gaming is my solution :)

1 you already git answered, 2 I'm fairly certain is yes.

The same people that made Mario Golf (Clap Hands) make HSG.

It's mostly for the exclusive games like Gravity Rush and Ys IV: Celceta, Sea of Trees, but the portability might also be useful when it comes to replaying old games like Persona 4 and Final Fantasy X. All in all, it's always fun to have new toys to play around with.

Formerly.

Camelot makes the Mario Golf and Tennis games now, they made the original Hot Shots Golf. Hot Shots Golf 2 and every sequel/spinoff since have been made by Clap Hanz, a studio who may or may not have been siphoning employees from Camelot...

It'd explain why Camelot's been absent from Sony hardware afterwards though.

Preordered so far:

WiFi Vita, 8GB Memory Card, Virtua Tennis 4 - £227.99
Officially Licensed Vita Travel Case - £10.85
Ridge Racer - £15.85
Asphalt - £5.45
Rayman Origins - £5.96
Lumines - £5.96
Dungeon Hunter - £5.96

The four Ubisoft games were preordered when Amazon originally made them available for order, and sold them for a lot cheaper than they should have been. Expecting those to be cancelled before dispatch probably. Going to pick up Wipeout and maybe Uncharted and/or HSG on launch day. Still need to find somewhere selling the official screen protectors.

Total so far: £262.17

Not bad :)

So, I have $350 in Amazon gift cards, and I'm hospital-bound for probably a couple weeks after Vita releases... I was all set to buy one, but to be honest, these launch titles just aren't doing it for me. Uncharted looks pretty disappointing, and the only other one that looks ok (Wipeout) has mega-long loading times. I already have Rayman, and I'm pretty Lumines'd out. I really don't think I'm gonna bite anymore.

Vita buyers: What's the main reason you're getting one? I'm really looking for any good reason to pull the trigger.

Rayman Origins
Uncharted - Golden Abyss
Motorstorm RC
Super Stardust Delta
Fifa Soccer

Bolded is my main reason, actually. Love me some Super Off Road!

To play games on a kickass hardware / best graphics/screen, SCE's 1st Party games, best game experience (dual analog sticks, buttons are better, back touchpad, etc.), etc.
These are my reasons ;)

Good deal price wise but I wouldn't have dungeon hunter and asphalt if they paid me to have them!

is there a list of demos that will be available at launch? i am still undecided what games to buy first and that would help

Fuck, I thought the early bundle was releasing on the 14th. I have another day to wait before I can pick up my pre-order. :(

If Amazon do actually send me them I'm planning on trading those two in straight away towards Wipeout :)

Going to buy Escape Plan, Motorstorm and probably SSD from PSN as well. Can't wait for launch day, shame it's over a week away.

I think this is what I'm going to end up with:

3G Vita - $300
8GB Card - $0 (free with 3G Vita)
Screen Protector - $0 (free with 3G Vita)
PDP Crystal Case - $20
Cradle - $20
Wipeout - $30
Hot Shots Golf - $30
Lumines - $30
Marvel vs Capcom - $30
Katamari - $20
Virtua Tennis - $30
Uncharted - $30

Total - $530

Total saved by waiting only 7 days - $110

Great minds think alike! I'll sell Dungeon Hunter right away, but sadly I missed out on Asphalt, would've sold it too ;)

Still crossing my fingers that this deal will go through.

Oh and I intend to buy exactly the same games on PSN.

I've ordered my bundle from shopto as I have £25 credit with them.

Gone for:

Ps vita wifi + rayman bundle
Everybody's golf
16gb memory card

With my store credit it comes to £265

I did have uncharted pre ordered but just not feeling it at all and some of the reviews have confirmed that for me. I've recently just finished UC3 so can't justify another £35 on it. I'll pick it up pre owned when it's around £25

So with the money saved off that I'm picking up an extra couple of store titles so in total getting:

SSD
Motorstorm RC
Escape plan
Hustle kings

Vita buyers: What's the main reason you're getting one? I'm really looking for any good reason to pull the trigger.

1 - it's a new console. doh.

2 - it has the potential to deliver games hitherto unseen on handhelds, due to new interfaces and the best performance of any current handheld device

3 - sony's franchises

4 - new PSN features (activity list, cross game chat, near, live area)

5 - cross platform PS3 / vita play and the ability to transfer saves in some instances

6 - it has one of the strongest launch line ups in history

7 - likely to get extensive japanese support, following on from PSP

8 - gravity rush <3

9 - ability to upscale psp games... so i can catch up on a bunch of titles i missed out on in glorious OLED technicolour

P.s.

Current purchase list, one 3g vita, one wifi vita, 2 x lumines, 2 x 8gb cards, shinobido, uncharted.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!

Have SCEE just decided to not release any accessories apart from memory cards? I've said before how I can't see the screen protectors for sale, just had a look for the official cradle now and can't find that either. I could import them, but still.

Well, there are the two kits listed in the OP.

Won't be bothering with a screen protector. I like my kit au naturale.

Yeah I saw the starter kit, don't fancy buying a £20-£25 kit just for a couple of screen protectors though. Sony sells them separately in the US.

Get the screen protector only, it's 5EUR on Amazon.de (made by Snakebyte). I will get that and later walk into the retail store to get a feel for cases.

Also, question to people using German debit cards - can I input them the same as I would credit card, or do I need to like my bank account to my Amazon.de profile?

Vita buyers: What's the main reason you're getting one? I'm really looking for any good reason to pull the trigger.
Initially I will mostly use my Vita to play older games from the PSP off the Playstation Store. While there are a lot of good games on the store already, some of my most highly sought games are not there right now. It's clear Sony wants to push more into digital distribution so I think we will gradually see more and more added until almost everything is there.

Apart from that I'll be playing with the system itself, the OS, downloading some demos and apps and playing a few games such as wipeout, super stardust delta, show off and brag about the system to my friends (whahaha), then wait for some of the launch games like Uncharted to go on sale.

I also early adopted the 3DS and never regretted it, yes, even despite the price drop.

My total so far is $302~. No games ordered yet, I don't have much interest in the launch titles... was hoping Gravity Rush would be close to launch. I might end up getting Hot Shots Golf.

Vita 3G launch bundle $239.99
Cradle $13.99
Screen Protectors $7.29
Case $16.99
Tax $24.35

Lockerz already shipped my accessories (received today), but seems they won't ship the Vita until launch.

ElecSaver, Hori, Logic 3, Savvies, Snakebyte, Subsonic, and Vikuiti all offer Vita screen protectors at Amazon.co.uk. People in this thread seem to prefer Hori's screen protectors over Sony's own.

revised my Vita order slightly...

PS Vita 3G (£244.97)
Vita Starter Kit (£14.50)
16GB card +
Fifa 2012 (£64.94)
Everybody's Golf (£16.00)
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (£18.50)
Wipeout 2048 (£5.00)
Virtua Tennis 4 (£29.86)
Lumines (£5.96)
Rayman Origins (£5.96)

TOTAL - £405.69

Decided not to get Ridge Racer as I won't be able to play all these games at once

I'm excited primarily because I feel this handheld could push me back in to gaming. The last 3-4 years have had me drifting away from gaming, mainly due to lack of time. But the portability and graphical prowess offered from the Vita is exactly what Ive been waiting for.

Plus, Ive been away from handheld since GBA, so this will be very refreshing and cant wait to dive in to some PSP goodness.

Do you guys think that something like Skyrim or Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is possible on the vita? Would the cards hold that much data? Full length western rpgs would be a dream on a handheld system.

Is NGS+ 30 or 60fps?

During Giantbomb stream Brad said it "doesn't look like 60FPS". I think the reviews are out on the 16th, no doubt someone is going to comment on that.

Yes, because cards will continue to grow in size over the life of the system. Another question is how profitable would it be to make a game like that.
