Could this picture BE any better? It's, like, "screw you, this is MY hideously expensive film".

I really disliked EoE when I watched it, but it's improved in my mind since then.
TV end is still better though.
I still want to know who that high kid was in the summer episode of Nichibros.
Mitsuo Iso's Asuka fight>anything in the TV ending of Eva
Haibane Renmei - FINISH
Never thought I would become so strongly attached to the characters in the way that I did at its conclusion
Loved the characters, art and music a lot. I will probably always want more information, in terms of understanding the world and the purpose of the Haibane's existence, but since the focus was always on the characters I can deal with it.
I highly recommend checking it out. (I saw it in Jex's 2000-2010 anime recommendation thread so thanks for that)
Maybe they had some rights squabble with Manga Ent. since I'm pretty sure they have some right to the movie. They're even in the credits for the JP version.Yeah, and I can guarantee you this movie is more popular than Honneamise, so it's mystifying they never brought it over - all they would have had to do to would be to translate the moon language in the booklet that came with it since the packaging is even otherwise written in English!
Yeah, although the Innocence US release is long OOP plus it's pretty shit (BD25, low bitrate video -- visibly inferior in comparisons, and lossy audio) anyways. But since it's OOP and rare it still fetches like $80+ on ebay. Just import the superior version for that price, morans.Innocence did come out on blu-ray in the US, I think, as did the abomination that is 2.0.
Should've bought the cheapo BD-only reprint when it was like 1800 yen on Amazon like I did!Well, fuck me. What a stupid world we live in.
The fights in the first half were awesome, there's no denying it, but then it got stupid in the second half.

NO! NOOO!
All of my packages had been arriving on my doorstep, but my Honneamise dvd/bluray was sent to the apartment office! I won't be able to get it until who knows when because of their stupid 9-3/Mon-Fri office hours! How am I going to hide all of these dvds from my parents when they come to help me move next weekend!? My mom's going to kill me!
I guess I'll go ignore my problems and watch episode 6 of Lagrange instead...
Yeah, but so did the original ending. At leas the movie had that fight!
Yeah, but the TV ending was stupid the whole way through, so it was an improvement.
I guess I should buy the Patlabor BD's at some point, although I feel that I've spent enough money grabbing this:
Yes, the TV end was stupid as well, but at leastI convinced myself thatI can understand it, unlike EoE!
But that doesn't make any sense, both endings have the same meaning. It's just that in EoE they actually resolve the plot threads instead of pretending the plot never existed.
I actually ended up winning. You can look forward to a glorious thread of Watanabe, and marginalized mentions of AKB48.J/k. I'm not actually going to diminish any particular series. You can still expect a lot of Watanabe though.
The plot is the stupidest thing about Eva, though, which is why the TV end is better!
I wouldn't say they have the same meaning either, the TV endis far more focused on just Shinji, and Misato isn't dead, unlike EoE. EoE also had giant Rei, which is far worse than anything in the TV end.
You've obviously never met my mother.Your parents should be proud of you for supporting an industry you love!
But School Days is actually pretty fucking well-done. It's not Troll 2.
Thank you, because I'm stuck on a Ten-chan episode atm and I need the motivation to continue.
It's stupid either way, pretending it doesn't exist doesn't excuse that and allow you to just abandon the narrative.
Nobody is dead at the end of EoE, either.
That's probably what I should have done with Detective Conan. My honest advice for Urusei Yatsura, and most 100+ episode shows that aren't LOGH - it's okay to fast forward or skip past entire episodes that aren't working for you. In fact, it's quite healthy. I survive rough patches in Maison Ikkoku that way.
Are you really so thirsty for my tears?
some plots deserve to be forgotten in order to make room formore chair scenes, Eva is one of those.
well, she gets blown to bits after sending Shinji away in the first half, that seems pretty dead to me, and it would just make EoE even dumber if turning into orange goo brings her back to life. I don't remember that happening anyway though, but I could be wrong. Maybe I should rewatch EoE
As mentioned earlier in the day, in the anime community this thread is quite the anamoly. We have like literally no girls that post regularly in this thread.
We are Nichibros!
Rebuild is the sequel to Eva, so she's obviously alive. But even ignoring that, in the movie itself they say that anyone can come back. And then Asuka is alive even after being eviscerated by the other Evas.

I haven't seen rebuild yet, so I can't comment on that, butthat is true about asuka, they never show her being completely dead though! a loophole for me! anyway, resurrections is just more reason why EoE is worse than the TV end as far as plot and character go.
The Nornir OP for Penguindrum was certainly my favourite of the year. It was intriguingly storyboarded, nicely animated, the song itself is both interesting and also relevant to the show... all round good stuff.
Now Blood-C's OP was impeccably animated, but it just wasn't quite as quirky as Nornir was. And having just watched the second Idolmaster OP that Jex mentioned (not my kind of show so never really watched it) it is again very well animated - but I don't like idol-style songs so the overall package leaves me cold.

You just need to be able to interpret white lines on black backgrounds better. It's all spelled out very clearly. They don't show anything in the TV end, that's the problem.
Outing yourself here can't be any worse than outing yourself in any of the other many anime forums with nothing but crazies in them.
They do show a still ofMisato's corpse in the TV ending

No, I actually find several plot elements in Paprika incoherent. Based on the set of internal rules for how the sci-fi in the movie is supposed to work, as set by the show itself, a lot of the later plot developments don't really make sense. They're designed for spectacle instead of logic, and the movie doesn't seem to care about that. That is definitely a flaw in a show that actually tries to explain things early on to set rules and expectations on the fantasy elements.
what?
I've only watched 1.11 so far (I have 2.22 on blu-ray but still have yet to sit down and watch it).
It seemed like a remake and reinterpretation.
From what I can recall Anime World Order (WEEABOO ALERT!!) did a pretty decent job of covering Angel's Egg and Gosenzosama Banbanzai in part because Daryl seemed to actually understand what the fuck was going on in each (i.e. what they're 'about').
I figured someone was gonna post that.

There is a short span of episodes of Maison Ikkoku you absolutely should skip. A blanket ban on Ten episodes, though, will cut out quite a lot of good material. Now that you've admitted this I can hear Hitokage sharpening his knives from here.
That image is what is providing most of my motivation to eventually watch Rebuild.
That's where I think it's heading too, but it's definitely not confirmed. There are explanations for a lot of it, and they could very easily explain the rest.

What would be the branching point then, or in this case the beginning of the repeat of events? The start of 2.22 (which I haven't watched)?
Steadily increasing the presence of basset hounds in every film!
Plus it's like a main character in Innocence.
