I did, it's still "Processing in warehouse" and has been since Friday. Hopefully it dispatches today.
Every time I wake the Vita after charging it completely from near-depletion, I freak out when I see that the battery indicator is still at red/low, only for it to change to full in about a second. I'm never gonna get used to it, lol.
Considering the price to size ratios of current models, and companies moving onto different tech (ie Sony to Crystal LED, I know it's a prototype) and the speed at which OLED is moving into the market it just seems like its "dead in the water", LG and Samsung haven't even announced prices on their 55" OLED which is currently the max size nor have they announced any release date.

Still, I can't believe how amazing this OS at launch!
What's the max amount of people you can have on your friends list? I'm up to 50 and it won't let me send any more friend requests... I thought it was atleast 100?
On the backside of the Vita's wireless card, iFixit found a Qualcomm MDM6200 module, which supports HSPA+ speeds up to 14.4 Mbps. Despite this discovery, the Vita only supports regular HSPA on AT&T's 3G network, which is theoretically half as fast. (In Japan, the Vita supports HSPA+ speeds.) In my own speed tests, I confirmed that the Vita is slower than my HSPA+ Samsung Galaxy S II.
I expect Dungeon Hunter to drop in price really really quickly as most Ubisoft games do.
This dude is definitely impressed with the OS. He seems to think Sony will use the Vita OS to go all by themselves in the mobile space a la amazon and apple. The problem is he's talking about Sony and they move slow as hell. Another problem is giving up the android market place and its thousands of apps. I don't think it'll happen, and if it does, I still expect Sony to have Windows and Android tablets, phones, and PCs available next to their own OS. Either way, best of luck to them.
I think Sony should increase the friend limit to 200 or 250 for the PS+ master race.
Also, what does this mean?
Does it mean that if it AT&T made it so that their network supported HSPA+ speeds then maybe 3G online gaming would be feasible? Then maybe, if Vita goes to other carriers like Sprint then you would get HSPA+ speeds and game online over their HSPA+ network? 14.4Mbps doesn't sound too bad and actually sounds pretty playable.
What the fuck?! You're right, I just checked PSN and Retributiom isn't available for purchase! I really was planning in buying that! Damn it SCEA!
What's with the lack of 16GB cards, Amazon? I'm only seeing third party sellers, and they are selling it at least $10 above msrp. I'll probably buy one from Newegg, but I like to buy all my stuff from one place in one go.
Well, certainly not for PSP.DD for the win, right?

PS Nation have been talking alot about the Vita recently and they're very positive about it.
My Amazon UK order has changed to "Dispatching Soon". Hope that changes to Dispatched some time today..
Gah!![]()
Wireless tethering w/ a rooted Android phone fixes that.
Psnation my man. In fact I'll listen to their podcast right now.
Last year was the year that OLED really picked up steam in mainstream consumer devices, and this year is when it will move beyond portables. That's after half a decade of sluggish growth. It a strange time to say that it's not taking off.
It's probably the best overall display technology of all time, so I really can't see that happening.
Didn't Samsung just spin off their LCD business to focus on OLED? At CES this year companies were showing the first large OLED HDTVs (55 inches). They started to become very common in mobile devices last year, but there were technical barriers to scaling them up for TVs. Breakthroughs have changed that.

What shipping method?
I'm not so sure about that.
From the Wikipedia article on OLED:
"In January 2011, Sony announced the PlayStation Vita handheld game console (the successor to the PSP) will feature a 5-inch OLED screen."
"On January 07, 2012 Sony announced they will abandon OLED development for the mass market and instead settle on adopting "Crystal LED" as an alternative."
OLED technology also appears to have quite a few kinks that have yet to be worked out.
However, I will agree that OLED screens looks phenomenal in action.
I'll believe it when I can walk into a store and see an OLED TV at a price that the average person can afford. Of course, that's not to say that it won't happen, but rather, that I'm not entirely convinced that the OLED is ready for prime time just yet. I highlighted the Sony example because it's interesting to see a company suddenly step back from a technology that is to be used in one of their premier devices.
Kaz said not so long ago, that they're going to invest in OLED again. So Sony is stepping from their backstep.
For games that use the d-pad as the primary controller, developers are going to need to start including "turn analog control off" as an option because the analog is really waaaaay too close to the d-pad and it's super easy to accidentally touch it while moving around the d-pad.
The D-Pad is great for UMvC3. I can pull off all the motions just fine after about 20 minutes with it.
The buttons, on the other hand, are a different matter. Specifically, trying to hold Square for Vergil's Round Trip or Zero's Buster, while pressing Triangle and Circle is much more difficult than just doing it on an arcade stick. Trying to hit both Square and Circle after a combo with Taskmaster to finish with angled Legion Arrows is even more difficult, with how small the buttons are. I'm no fighting game expert but these are moves I can easily do on an arcade stick, and will take time figuring out and getting used to on the Vita.
It's the Hori TPU Protector Cover.

Maybe i've missed it, but is there any talk about how Ad Hoc Party is compatible on Vita?
For example, is MH:FU playable online with either ad-hoc party on PS3, or maybe a Vita built-in solution ?
Before or after the company's credit downgrade?

True gaming is reborn on the PlayStation Vita with the launch of A-Men, a riddle within a retro game that will satisfy your cravings for tactical play. With more than a hint of the old school style of logic, platforms and creatures, we think our new, highly addictive title is an unexpected launch in a market dominated by pump-action big titles. Created by Bloober Team and honourably inspired by retro-cult classics Lemmings and Lost Vikings, the game gives you control of up to five army characters, each with their own personalities, skills and tools, whose mission is to round up their equally endearing enemies across a series of worlds and puzzles. Highly tactical and completely addictive, the game is immediately easy to play and yet, like many classic games, it is hard to truly master. You’ll definitely need a brain for this one, folks.
Or an Android phone in a civilised country.
A-Men is a new launch title for the Vita. Previously known as something else (can't remember).

As a casual Tekken player I map square+circle to L1 and cross+triangle to R1 on PSP. No way I could hit those buttons at the same time consistently, not even on a controller. If I can't map inputs to the shoulder buttons I might as well not play a fighter. The D-Pad is great for UMvC3. I can pull off all the motions just fine after about 20 minutes with it.

Which PSP? Because the 2000 and especially 3000 actually have pretty good D-pads, but the PSP-1000's was trash. Doubly worse because the analog nub was also uncomfortable as hell, so it wasn't like the 360 or GC where a less-than-ideal D-Pad is balanced out by amazing analog.I look forward to Vita's dpad, the PSP one is so bad.
