Thanks, Wario. I saw your thread on CAG and switched my Vita pre-order (made back in June =P) for a new Wifi one with a 4GB card. Now I'll need to decide whether to sell the 4GB or return my 8GB..

cancelled my previous Vita Amazon Preorder at amazon with the release day shipping so I can get in on the free 4gb memory card deal....only thing is that this new preorder is no longer available for release day shipping.....gonna have to wait til 2/29 :((((


oh well....small price to pay for a free 4gb memory card i guess..
im gonna have to read about you guys playing vita games and playing with the features while i wait :damn:

I would suggest you try to get the Vita from Target, because you will get the WiFi for $250 plus tax. But you will also receive a 4gb card from their promo plus a $20 Target gift card which makes up for the tax. Try it and you might get your Vita early if they have them in stock.
 
99 for a 32g flash card? They're profiting. Nothing wrong with that ofcourse but again being soured by nintendo and not being able to buy motorstorm, ridge racer or gravity daze yet make it a tad easier not to pull the trigger. Believe me guys I've been on the hype train along with you all. Hard not to jump in but meh. I'll live thru you guys for now. And you're right it probably won't see a drop til the holidays if all goes well but again a months wait won't kill me.

Though I won't tell you what and when to purchase, I've never understood this type of mentality. I see some people holding out for a Vita because Gravity Rush or "X" title isn't coming till April-June (example), but it's not like the console will get cancelled or it'll get a price drop. I'm sure Vita will be same price, same console, no bundle, by the time Gravity Rush arrives in the west. Again, I'm not telling you what to buy, just never understood it. It would make much more sense if it were because the game would be launching in November or next year.

PS: From what I read in your post I understood that you are planning on waiting one month until you buy a Vita? if not, ignore this lol

Set mine for ship to multiple addresses (same address different phone number), and it worked.

While I agree my opinion is solely based on the deals I've gotten so far on Amazon.

($39.99) total just for activating a credit card and earning a $50 gift card for doing so.

If you're even remotely interested in this thing it has to be the best launch ever from a value standpoint. Tiger Direct's incompetence is my only disappointment so far.

Yeah, with Vita, I expect them to break even really fast in about a year or so... it's definitely a good business decision from Sony. Apple makes a huge profit because of their brand equity -- people will buy anything they put out. Nintendo cannot take huge risks as they're a gaming only company and they don't have other divisions to bail them out, that's why they always make sure that their hardware is profitable -- it's a little conservative strategy, but that's the one the choose all the time. Sony always takes a loss and tries to pack in as much tech, so that the product can have a huge life cycle. It was tough for them to bring down the costs fast with the PS3, but with the Vita they're definitely heading in the right direction.

$159 is only cost of materials. That doesn't include assembly, packaging, shipping, advertising and all the other costs that go into each vita unit.

Sony are probably breaking even, or making a small profit at best.

Look at the 3DS. it's cost of materials is/was $103. they're probably not making a profit now.

I'm guessing you did not order a 4gb memory card before this promo. I had my Wifi Vita and 4gb card on separate orders ordered on Valentines Day. My card got shipped a couple of days ago, and today I chatted with Amazon CSR and got a refund on my 4gb card.

It doesn't explain anything to you really. You'll have to go learn yourself. It's not really a game for beginners or someone new to the franchise.

But I'm a beginner and new to the franchise and casual and I'm still having fun with it, although it can get frustrating. I guess it depends how much tolerance and patience you have.

EDIT: It's not about whining or "being a baby". If you're the type of person who would get mad at ruining 30 minutes of playtime with one bad shot, this game will make you cry. You can literally play a perfect game and ruin it all with ONE bad shot.

You can only ruin your game with 1 bad shot if you plan poorly.

I'll be buying myself a sexy little Vita on Friday. My biggest concern is that at the moment I only have enough loot to buy the system, Uncharted, and PvZ.

Are there any stores currently offering a free memory stick with purchase of the system? This is for the US.

Gameloft probably doesn't even know their game is on the Vita, or what the Vita even is, lol.

Here's a question for those who've had the Vita for a couple of months: have the analog sticks seemed to degrade in quality at all over the time? I'm just afraid about them getting bad over the course of a few months.

If you buy a Wifi Vita from Amazon and have a 4 GB memory card in the cart at checkout, you get $19.99 credit for the memory card making it free.
 
So I know the Vita is capable of remote play, but have we heard which PS3 games are compatible with the Vita remote play capabilities?

I remember with the original PSP, only certain games were able to be played via the remote play option.

Any info on that?

Planning poorly isn't a hard thing to do when you're a novice.
In the OT, even some experienced players said they had some frustrating moments.

Yeah, I messed up on one of the checkpoints and decided to just drop out of gravity mode and pull up on the ledge. It does get a a little disorienting in tight spots.

So decided to jump on after 4GB mem card got included with the Wifi bundle.
I'm finally going to have a VITA! :)

Any recommendations for screen protectors? Is there one brand that is better or inferior than the rest?

Any recommendations on a carrying case for it? Was also thinking about getting the Hori version since its $5 cheaper than the other ones.

Has anybody done a battery test on how long the battery lasts on average?

It's an amazing launch. I kind of regret going for the 16GB card though; only 5GB left. :( I'll have to buy a 32GB one soon.

Not really lol. Memory card is extremely vital for the Vita.
 
Good god... this is thread is moving like a runaway train.

I've been loving my FEB everyday. Looking forward to download some demos and Mutant Blobs tomorrow along with the Twitter & Netflix apps. So far I've put the most time into Hot Shots. I play each daily tourney everyday. Uncharted, Lumines & SSD are awesome too. Especially Uncharted, I'm really enjoying it, good job Bend.

I think VT4 will be my next launch title purchase. Then I'll cool off until Motorstorm RC, Sound Shapes and Gravity Rush.

Viva la Vita.

That is the one I was referring to for the carrying case. Was wondering about the quality and what it can hold besides the system.
 
I ordered the wifi from Amazon as well because of the free 4gb card and no tax. I was planning on purchasing the starter kit for $39.99, but it doesn't look like it's such a great deal. The headphones are some cheapy ones that aren't the same as the ones that retail for $19.99, the case is just a soft sleeve, don't need a second 4gb card, would never use the game case and the only thing useful to me would be the screen protector.

Now I'm torn on what to get. I think the hard case and screen protector isn't worth it at $20 and $10. I guess I'll wait for them to go on sale before I purchase them.
 
I did it. I managed to convince the wife to let me get the Vita.

For those who don't know (I mentioned it a few pages back), we bought a new couch and dining room table today and she told me I had to push when I could get the Vita back (which would roughly translate to who knows when).

I messed around with the system at Gamestop today (what time I could before I could before my 14 month old thought it was interesting) and it was awesome. Hot Shots looked great, so did Uncharted.
