Show us your gaming setup: 2012 Edition

hi!

here's my main gaming setup. in my living room (me, my gf and our dog):

equipment:

Pioneer TX-P50V10E 50" plasma (amazing TV, seriously...)
X360 Pro Jasper model with 120GB Elite HDD (sold my 60GB that came with the console)
PS3 CECH-2104B, 250GB 40nm RSX/Cell
Xbox 1 Limited Crystal Edition (I bought this very cheap and in perfect condition as a gift for my girlfriend. she's a gamer, too)
HTPC
Sony VHS
Pioneer VSX-814D A/V receiver + 5.0 Pioneer surround speakers

On the other side of the room is a comfy couch, coffee table, etc. nothing fancy. but very comfy. :)

And to the right...this:

^ couple of games missing from this (not so recent photo). MW3, AC:R for example...

As seen from the picture, I primary game on X360 (I use PS3 for exclusives and games that are...hm..."better" on it then on X360 in terms of performance, framerate, etc.).

My PC rig is in my room, I'll post that sometime later.

Hope you like it.

I love how you took the time to arrange everything in alphabetical order!

Not too much has changed since 2011, but I did add another IKEA Lack TV stand and stacked them so the TV is higher.

SHOTEH FOCK OP do you have anything that secures the two of those together? I imagine the weight of the unit plus the contents are enough to keep it from sliding in an everyday setting and if someone were to bump into it.

My PC and some shelves.

The PC is an i7-2600, with a GTX 570, 16 GB of ram and around 6 TB of HDD space. Gotta have a lot of ram and storage for music and video editing. :)

Thanks for this idea. I have a similar stand made by another company(no Ikea stores around here), and I've been looking to raise my TV up and have more space for my components and this seems like a perfect solution. Again, thanks for the idea.

Will post results when I get the stand and put it together.

Everyone's setup, since the last time I posted in here, are great. Keep up the good work everyone!

Here is my recent Setup:

where I sit to watch movies. Next to the telephon bedides the couch rests my 3DS.

This is my actual setup, a 360 and a Wii. A Blueray Player and a HD Sat Reciever. Thes is completed by my AV-Reciever :-)

The N64 and SNES aren't connected at the moment.

I'm still living at my mother's house, so my setup is not too clean or something special, but it is good enough for some nice gaming sessions or watching movies.

Love the floors, is that Brazilian Cherrywood?

It is actually Maraba Hickory laminate flooring.

http://www.homedepot.com/Flooring-L...splay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&storeId=10051

The wife and I tore out the old flooring, painted, then installed the new stuff in just under a week (while still working full time.) It's super easy to install. Between all of the necessary tools (miter saw, drill, etc), the underlayment, the trim, the floor itself and the paint for the room, we spent under a grand on it. Not bad for a 310 square foot room.

Wow, that floor looks really glossy! Is it hard to keep it that way? What about scratches?

It has been in place for less than a week, so I can't answer the glossy question.

As far as scratches go, I dropped a crowbar from about 3 feet high that landed point-down. It made no visible mark whatsoever. I also have a cat and 2 dogs that love to chase the shit out of that cat, and none of their claws have made a dent either.

Give it 6-10 months and you'll notice some wear. Just keep cleaning it and you'll be fine.

Here is our current apartment living room setup. Apologies for the shit-quality pics-- that's the iPhone 4 for you.

To the right is the couch. My wife usually takes the long part and uses her MacBook. There's some pictures that need to be framed and hung up...the wall behind the couch is also completely barren and has a huge amount of space available. I need to find something to put up but still don't know what to go with. Was thinking about a giant photo of a cityscape.

Besta shelving unit:

My main setup. I just recently got the Besta shelf on the left and had to cut holes to run the cables through. It didn't turn out very pretty, but fortunately since everything is black, it's difficult to notice. There's still a bit of a mess of cables that I need to get organized, but before I had that Besta unit, the shelving I was using had no back and the rat's nest in back looked awful, so I think this is a nice improvement. The cable going up the wall leads to an Airport Express.

All my currently-used systems (and the Wii :p) are housed here. Shown is an ASUS ML228H 22-Inch Ultra-Slim Widescreen LED Monitor, used as my secondary gaming monitor, because my wife tends to hog the TV! But I like the picture quality so much that I tend to just use it for everything anyway. I cannot recommend this monitor enough...it is input lag-free and colors just pop off the screen.

The TV stand houses a Panasonic TC-L42U25 42-Inch 1080p 120 Hz IPS Panel LCD HDTV, cheapo Vizio Soundbar (it gets the job done), Apple TV, and U-Verse box.

A lot of my older systems and games are in "storage" at my folks' place, but I do have a small spare room that I use as well. It has a built-in desk in a wall space, which I use to house my old ASUS 25.5-Inch LCD monitor (which I'm probably going to sell real cheap, as I have a 19-Inch HDTV that needs to go somewhere) and my PS2, PSP, and PSP Go. The Go is hooked up to the TV via its cradle and I can use a PS3 controller with it for use as a mini-console/emulation machine.

More bookshelves, containing all my PS1, PS2, PSP, Game Cube, GBA, DS, 3DS, and Vita games.

Close-up of my desk. The ASUS monitor is Designo Series MS238H, essentially a 23-inch version of the 22-Inch model in my living room. I use an HP Pavilion DM1-Z "Notbook" as my primary PC, since I don't tend to do much other than web-browsing. But it's powerful enough to be able to run 720P and 1080P video smoothly, and can even run games like SSF4 Arcade Edition and Fallout 3.

and thanks to universal game cases, the cover project & some help from the buy/sell thread, here's a close-up of the cart collection!

Only missing one set of wooden blinds from my new place. Once I get them installed the setup is complete and it's time for pictures.

Would need some help, gaf.

I'd want led lights for my AV stand (2.8m wide). Could someone recommend a kit in the UK that I could either control with my Harmony remote, or somehow plug into my Sony 5300es receiver? So that whenever my AV system goes on the lights come on.

Not sure where you'd find something with a 12v trigger to use it with the receiver, but perhaps something like this would work?

Assuming that it's a standard IR remote, I don't think there's any reason why the Harmony wouldn't be able to work with it.

I've gotten a decent amount of PM's lately asking about what furniture I have, so I thought I would just create a post for everyone.

- Ikea Friel TV Stand (No longer sold)
- Ikea Magiker Coffee Table (No longer sold)
- Ikea Billy Bookcase with Glass Doors
- Ikea Besta Stand with round peg legs
- The Brick Black Leather Sectional (Don't have name but no longer sold)

The 23 but I see now that you put it in your original post, although I guess its old enough there not really selling them anywhere anymore, too bad looks like a nice monitor.

The 22" models are still available...should be around $150-$160. They have better stands than the 23", too.

I have a long hdmi and usb extension cable that goes from the pc in my room to my living room just outside, so I can play racing sims on the 50" plasma. I use a wireless keyboard with a built in trackpad that has just enough range to let me browse menus and the web from there too.

Unfortunately the 50" TV we had on loan from one of roommate's friends got taken away so I ended up moving my TV back into the living room. I still have my monitor in my bedroom which is what I use primarily but this is how I set up at least half the time:

(sorry for the shitty photo, my phone camera couldn't deal with the light coming off the screen too well apparently)

Some nice setups. Does anyone of you actually hide the tv when you don't use it though? In all pictures I see huge ass screens being the centerpiece of the living room. In my opinion tv's aren't exactly nice looking.

What's the point of a living room if you can't even live in it?

pshhh that's nothing cheska

i just had my 360 and my wii lying there on the floor hooked to an old ctr. Had because there's not even a telly there anymore.

How is that TV? Is the viewing angles pretty good and what not?

Admittedly, our couch could be another foot back or so but the angles are great. The only downside is once you have a 73" TV, it's hard to go smaller.

Ok. reason I ask is because I would love to have that exact table except red.

I believe they also had black and blue. Cant recall red :( Ikea does carry similar tables too though, I saw them when I went to pick up the detolf cases.

Thanks for the help! I'm gonna post my setup once I'm done with the painting.

Are you located in the Bay Area Cheska? Great room! Definitely a lot of character and just as great as all the minimalist setups we see.

I am ^^ About an hour away from San Francisco, east bay. And thank you :) We went for the more minimalist approach downstairs, but figured we would just put up whatever made us happy in the game room.

So I've actually got two rooms in our house for gaming. The pictures below are of my classic game room (my basement man cave) which houses my Donkey Kong Multicade and my entire classic gaming selection that spawns ~400 games from the last 25 years. I keep all of my modern gaming systems in the upstairs family room, not pictured here.

I've painted one of my walls with chalkboard paint to record high scores and to keep track of which system works with which input on my TV and system selector. I'm always changing things around, so this keeps things straight!

Arranging my basement to fit everything in my collection was quite the challenge, and only possible thanks to my incredibly tolerant wife.

Easily my favorite. Donkey Kong arcade machine, Nintendo neon light, nice posters, mario pixel on the door; and not an overly huge collection.
