Winter 2012 Anime Thread 2.22: You Can (Not) Outpost Cajunator

This season is going to be one for the books if even a third of these turn out good.

Right. There's plenty of shows out there that look promising in principle (although we know how often that amounts to nothing) so even by the laws of, er, anime, there has to be at least a handful of titles worth watching.

It'll probably be something like "the fairies in Orihime's hairpin that haven't been seen since Soul Society come back as Arrancars and want to kill everyone because Szayel secretly injected something into Orihime when she was held captive and they need to find an antidote but the only one who has it is Kurotsuchi but he won't give it up unless Ichigo wins a tournament against a series of mutants from his failed experiments and there's lots of drama because one of them is a clone of Ishida's grandfather that retained all of his memories and wants to see Ishida again." Actually, I'd probably watch.

Sounds like you've given this some thought!

Whatever happens, it'll still be shit, so meh.

Aren't the filler Bleach episodes supposedly better than the Kuboplot? Should've just went for a bones ending.

Black Rock Shooter Ep4

Surprisingly this episode for the most part is much more competent than the previous ones. The direction and pacing of scenes in general feel more on the ball than the last 3 episodes. The writing is still pretty terrible, and the characters are extremely unrealistic, but it wasn't all bad this week. There are at least two moments where you just wonder why the show has to over-dramatize character emotions so much to the point of being comical though. The CG World scenes were pretty solid, and there's a great lead in to next week's episode.

Looks pretty exciting!

I would say that in retrospect, maybe they're not as bad as they seemed, but saying they're better than the actual plot would be a real stretch.

After his death, Hitler became the most powerful Hollow and revived the Third Reich in Hueco Mundo.

About a minute or so, yeah.

NUUOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo. It's always a time of great celebration when the show returns to manga material, which is saying something.

Beyblade's back!

Beyblade has been back, the Metal Fight trilogy started in 2009 and is ending this or next month. Odd how they are using a picture of the Metal Fight cast for Zero G, the main character has been revealed.

If you can't tell it's a 15 minute toy commercial, but it's fun to watch. The toys premise isn't as good for an anime as Beyblade/battling toys but so far they have done a fine job with it.

Also, is it just me, or was the 2D animation in BRS TV better this week compared to the previous weeks? It's really weird, but it almost felt like a competent show this time round.

No there worse, there not fma or naruto filler bad but there mostly bad except for bounto arc that was pretty decent untill the final fight.

This hamster show is hilarious, I came across is by accident on youtube, I was like"waht fuuuuk" for like 30mins

I can tell it's causing some deal of pain to admit that.

If anyone doubts the infinite terribleness of Bleach filler arcs, keep in mind that the villain design is usually representative of the quality of the arc.

I watched every single episode of every one of these :(

Poor, unfortunate soul. Truly born to be an anime masochist.

Honestly, I dropped shortly after
Final Aizen Battle
. I still blame myself for dropping so damn late.

Edit: Hehe. Look at lil' Aizen #2 up tharr.

Is Beyblade getting yugioh hairstyles or has it always been like that?

hey hey hey. The filler arcs tend to have some of the best choreographed fights in the show due to not being restricted to kubo's manga. byakuya vs the zombie man was pretty fucking rad!

And I really liked that new captain arc, until they just killed the guy off at the end because they had to end fillers >.>"

With how Kubo rolls, I can easily predict a "Final season" that's 50+ eps.

So now, Toriko will be one of the 3 pillars now? #gamechanger.

So have I. As well as every single episode of Naruto filler.
oh god, why

Guy with green and yellow hair is the best, by which I mean the worst, at least what I can see.

Hey, at least 2 of those villains seem decent...ish.

Is Beyblade getting yugioh hairstyles or has it always been like that?

Ehh they haven't been multicolored like Yu-Gi-Oh (besides a few characters like Ryuuga), the new one seems to be going the multicolor route. Yu-Gi-Oh seems to have more strands of hair rather than a large clump of it so it's slightly different.

Trapeze 8

Well, this was unusual for a Trapeze episode, in that
the subject of the episode was never really "cured"
.

I like the way all the episodes of Trapeze occur simultaneously. Not only is it kinda nice to see parts of earlier episodes make brief cameos in later ones, it also emphasizes the point that, even if all of these people have disorders, they're not incredibly exceptional or unique. They're having problems at the same time as all these other people that they don't know.

I guess I've watched the show enough that I don't even notice the art direction anymore.

The end credits song is wonderful, and brings a smile to my face at the end of every episode.

I think people like Mad Pierrot, justify my mocking of Bleach fans. :(

I can't disagree ;_; I thought I hated Bleach, but I think I just discovered that I apparently love it more than anyone.

DTL, if you read this, did you make it through the Bleach fillers? I need to gauge my level of Bleach fanboyism.

I'll give you that Byakuya vs. Kouga was one of the best fights in the entire series, and possibly only behind Ichigo vs. Grimmjow. And as terrible as the last filler arc was, the final episode had movie-quality animation for seemingly no reason at all. I know they put these things in at the end as a way of saying "thanks for putting up with all this shit", but it's not nearly enough.

Amagai Shuusuke arc might have actually been tolerable if Ichigo wasn't protecting a loli oujosama and there wasn't an inordinate focus on Izuru.

Yes, he's by far the worst. And not just that, he's a copy of a previous filler character:

DTL watches the fillers of all the shounen anime. He is leagues above you in shounen spirit

Materialized Zanpaktou is the best filler, followed by Gotei 13 army, 11th captain, and after watching the Bounts arc 3 times, probably my least favorite, on account of its slow start. And one must admit, they at least gave all but the Bounts arc, pretty memorable OP and EDs.

They were really imaginative with zanpaktou forms and made it as intense as a canon arc, really. Muramasa was cool.

Three questions for every new season:

1) Which shows are Kobayashi in?

I'll watch those shows.

So I guess "Queen’s Blade Rebellion – Siggy’s Passionate Sacred Pose Lessons" is out. Siggy being the Kobayashi character.

I wonder what 'passionate sacred pose lessons' could be, I look forward to your impressions.

What have you done, sir?

What crime have you committed so devious to make yourself pay this price?

I must know.

Anyone who got through that first Bleach filler arc has my respect.
