This thread is the reason I love NBA-gaf. Here is why:
NBA-Gaf is the best. I'm willing to bet that most of the Regs in the NBA thread grew up playing street ball, school ball, or loving the NBA. Shit talking is just part of the game and when I say that I mean a big fucking part of it. No one is ever serious and if you get pissed off it is your fault. That mentality carries over to the thread or Basketball related topics. You can call it a jackass attitude but it really isn't.
This thread just points out who is on the bandwagon and has a deeper relationship with Basketball. Because the mentality of the two is showing right now.
and for all those that say the NBA-thread is harsh try actually posting in their. The coolest cats on gaf post in that thread. We talk a lot of shit but it is never anything personal.

Tonight was a rough night for the bandwagoners but its important to know that Lin isn't a flash in the wok and NBA-gaf recognises that for the most part.
The element of surprise played a big part in Lin's run. Most scouts clearly dropped the ball on this guy. He has top 15 PG talent (league, not all time!) and if you're not prepared, a guy like that can torch you. Problem is that his flaws - his propensity to throw the ball away, lack of movement off the ball and a complete inability to go left - aren't a secret any more so teams can gameplan for him.
These aren't the kind of deficiencies you can work on mid-season, especially with a lockout condensed schedule. Until he has an offseason to adjust, we wont really know what Lin is.
In saying that, he did probably just have the worst game of all time so, whatevs.
Its assist:turnover ratio, not the other way around.

Spurs-age has nearly disappeared after they got their 50 wins and promptly checked out of the playoffs last year.

I have no problem shit talking but I think its best to keep it in the NBA thread that's my opinion. It looks stupid shitting in other threads especially when it was pretty expected that the Miami cobra kai are the favorites anyway. When team USA schools Serbia or Lithuania and we troll a bunch of people who were fans of that team its Pretty pointless.

Long before realpicfad came along, we and the rest of sportsgaf was having meetups on the regular. So yeah, it is shit talking between friends. And you want to talk basketball? Cool. We're down for that. Some brought up turnovers? He's a turnover machine. Some brought up defense? He got torched. Some brought up the return of Melo? Melo made this team's offense look like shit again Linstantly. Don't get mad at us for bringing realism to an olympic dick riding event. Most of the NBA regs hate Miami anyways. And during the Olympics and international play, there was more self-hate than anything else.

Lin is a great story. No one is disputing that. But HoF? MVP? All-star? Have fun. We'll be here to say we told you so.

Why do people make fun of Lin's 3.1, though? The guy went to Harvard as a full time athlete and made better grades than some kids who went there purely for academics. I know it's in vogue to shit on schools with crappy curves (and the ivies are notorious for it), but most of those kids are still smart as hell.

I've never stated Lin's even an all-star, but I think its a cool story that's he's a regular starter.
And no dispute he got stomped on that game. If a bunch of fools actually thought he was a HOVer or the Knicks were going to win then talk all the trash you want, but I don't think anyone even went there. I think that's correct. But that's not everyone's thing on the internet. I personally never cared for shit talking IRL or online, but everyone's different. It doesn't bother me, though. There is no one type of sports fan.

Just the concept that Lebron can't guard Lin is unbased.
The Heat was trapping him real hard off the PnR, so good effort by not just Chalmers but the team.
