Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 confirmed for Nintendo DS

There's no precedent to numbered sequels to mainline Pokemon games.
I knew you would say that, oh well. I mean I guess, whatever, I don't really think that's enough of a wrench to throw. Changing the logos that much is a pretty conscious choice.

It's just wishful thinking that it's Hoenn though. I'm still thinking about how Masuda kept saying, prior to B&W, "We have something to prove with having a second mainline game on the same handheld" when he justified the reboot and faraway location. If he goes as far as a sequel to that, I don't think he'll just make a simple sequel.

So we don't get the usual third title that combines both versions together and it's not even a 3DS game on top of that? What the hell Nintendo?
Well... this is the generation that started off by announcing that in Black and White, you'd have no access to any of the old 493 Pokemon period until you beat the Elite Four. That being the case, thinking about it, them pulling a move like this to keep proving the point that Gen 5 isn't playing by the previous entries' rules/is trying to make the series feel fresh again makes its own kind of sense, I suppose.

I'm actually fairly surprised at how well the 3rd versions of these games actually do. All they usually add is stuff that is important for hardcore gamers (more move tutors, more egg moves, easier ways to breed, battle frontier) and usually a slightly remixed campaign.

Yellow and Crystal made sense, one with its anime tie in, the other with its first time in full color, but Emerald and Platinum surprised me with their sales.

B/W came out in Sept 2010. The sequel is coming out almost 2 years later.
HeartGold and SoulSilver came out last year though. While not a sequel, they somewhat follow the same idea of B/W2 in that they just reiterate/expand upon an already established region/world/universe/whateverthefuck.

HG/SS came out last year where, the moon?

Interesting switch up. While it's on the DS I have a strong feeling it'll be 3DS enhanced in some way.

DS still going bitches, 9 year cycle.

HG/SS came out in September 2009...

Or March 2010 for us non Japanese people.

Gold & Silver was on the Gameboy/Gameboy Color though.

Compare it to the rest of their calatog. Hot-blooded sun-staring action is far more intense than anything they did afterwards, even the Batmen animus.

Now that's just trolling. Noir and the rest of the Girls with Guns animus were great. Bee Train isn't that bad. They're not completely shitty like Gonzo or whatever.

There's also no precedent for 9 mainline games on a single system.

I know right? Seriously, 9 freaking mainline games and who knows how many spinoffs.

We'll never see such a glorious beast mode Nintendo handheld ever again.

While on a personal standpoint I would still prefer they focus their energy on a new generation to make use of the 3DS, I'm intrigued enough to keep my eye on what sort of new things they actually add to the sequel here. The lack of a "pokemon grey" has been brought up, but we still don't actually have any proof that this isn't just that, in a sense. If most of the locations and pokemon are reused, but new plot events take place and some things are rebalanced, it could very well fill that role without having to add too many genuinely new things.

I only wish that they would find a way to make breeding less time-consuming or give you some better ingame tools to keep track of pokemon EVs, and I'll live with the rest.

Good news, they are! They have 2 teams.

I'm honestly baffled as to why this hasn't happened yet.

Breeding in Pokemon is so clunky, and that's made more obvious when compared to DQM. Granted, they're completely different games and breeding isnt' important at all in Pokemon.
Medarot > Noir, easily

Unless it happens on 3DS :O

Hold me, it needs to be true.

I'll bet my ragged Pokedoll collection that the 3DS will ever match the highs of the DS.

I'll never bet my Pokedoll collection. I love my Pikachu/Raichu transforming doll far too much.

That's what they said about every other Nintendo handheld.

3DS will have 9 mainline Pokemon titles. Bwahahahaha.

I'm going to eat crow 5 years from now aren't I?

Medarot > Noir, easily

I love Medarot as much as the next guy but Noir clearly is better than Medarot.

What about the OP isn't clear? It's all that's been confirmed.

- Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 are coming
- They release in June for Japan
- They include two new forms of Kyurem: Black Kyurem and White Kyurem
- They are both for the Nintendo DS
thanks for the summary as I just got home. Is that all they said? No idea what "2" entails?

Please explain how what you said makes sense. Breeding pokemon has only gotten easier every gen. The only "clunky" aspect is having to walk a ton of steps to hatch them. And breeding not important? LOL

That only "clunky" aspect is a pretty huge deal. It's just so time consuming. You also have to worry about egg groups and genders, only the latter existing in DQM.

As someone who doesn't play competively, breeding isn't important. I'll amdit I was wrong in making that blanket statement because it is important to the sir meta-game of the competitive seen. For the rest of us I guess it's just a way of makin' baby staged mons.

I wish they would just drop the breeding system and adopt a fusion system a la SMT. I prefer the mental imagery of Pokemon doing the fusion dance as opposed to fucking.

That completely changes trading dynamics. With the current system, breeding a child is a net +1 to your total Pokemon. So if someone needs something for their dex or something, 10 minutes with some quick ditto lovin', and you can give them the Pokemon they seek.

A fusion/synthesis/DQM breeding system (they're all the same bleeding thing, more or less) is a net -1 to your total. It'll reduce incentive to put random stuff you have up on GTS or trade off to people, unless you're a cheater/editor/call it what you want.

While I agree that it's clunky, this is not the right solution for this series.

Well, then Pokemon just needs to have some sort of compendium too.

I think the breeding system works pretty well. It's simple enough for people who just want a baby Pokemon, but deep enough to breed for specific traits you want. The learning curve for in-depth breeding is pretty steep though.

I just want more storage for all those babies you end up with. I finally managed to get the shiny Porygon I've always wanted, but now my boxes are positively full of babies and I can't bring myself to delete them. I want to put them all on a Ranch like all the ones I bred in Diamond.

Well, then Pokemon just needs to have some sort of compendium too.

All the system needs are 2 things
1. A way to make the step thing faster. Maybe you can pay the Daycare Center the amount of steps you'd have to take for them to "instantly" hatch your pokemon

2. An in-game guide that shows egg groups/egg moves.

Solution: Insta-babies and reduced hatching times. Either instant hatching or 100 steps for the longest hatchters.

You can't sell Pokemon, so having a PC full of Tauros isn't going to give you some unfair advantage.

The thing is it would make it too easy to get the perfect pokemon. Which at this moment is a huge pain in the ass, like it should be.

Plus if you have a pokemon with Flame Body your eggs will hatch quicker.

Why should it be?

Not going to lie in my opinions it would be less fun. One of my favorite things to do in D/P was breeding pokemon and hatching them. I didn't mind the endless biking because it was part of fun. Not knowing if what you are going to hatch would be useful or not or if it would be a shiny.

I just don't think it should be easy because then we would have all shinies and pokemon with 31 IV across all stats.
No going to lie that atm the pokemon competitive community(Some... looking at the youtube community.) seems to favor just pokesav'ing pokemon but still Legit way is best and it would be boring in my eyes if I could just get a new pokemon with in seconds.

Though in the end just opinion. I wouldn't be shocked if I'm alone on this but I know a couple of people might agree. Maybe.
