NFL Off-Season Thread: "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"

Why do you guys care so much about the combine?

The guys that rule in the combine are rarely great players. It doesn't matter if you can run a 4.3 as a receiver if you don't know how to run a route, read coverage or catch a ball. It doesn't matter how many times you can bench 500 lbs if your footwork sucks and you are to dumb to know how to work within a pro defense.

Getting the combine freaks never paid off for Oakland.

I think the only thing more worthless than the combine is probably the Wonderlic...

Wright vs. Floyd, both highly regarded WRs now after the combine I'm sure Floyd gained the edge.

Sooooo, is there any reason to watch NASCAR except for the crashes?

Also, why do you let a vehicle filled with 200 gallons of jet fuel on the track with other cars?

Almost done.

Blahhhhhh

You can do it!

Whilst you are working I already had a job interview, an interview with a bank for a program next year and I flirted with the hot girl at Starbucks. Good productive day.

59 days 'till the draft! Yay! The day the Patriots transform their defense into a top 5 D for the next 10 years!

Patriots prepared to lose Matt Light, Dan Koppen

In the weeks since the Patriots lost the Super Bowl, we’ve passed along reports noting that tackle Matt Light could retire, and that center Dan Koppen could leave via free agency.

The Patriots are prepared for both scenarios.

Greg A. Bedard of the Boston Globe reports that the Patriots are satisfied with where they are on the offensive line even if both Light and Koppen depart this offseason.

New England expects veteran right guard Brian Waters to return for another year and to sign center Dan Connolly to a new deal before the free agency period starts on March 13. The Patriots also like what they have in young offensive linemen Nick McDonald, Ryan Wendell and Marcus Cannon, and they’d be satisfied with Nate Solder and Sebastian Vollmer as their starting tackles.

It’s still far from a sure thing that Light will retire at the age of 33. But if he does, the Patriots think they’ll be just fine without him.

I don't want another year with Connoly as the starting C, he was okay in pass protection, but was below average on running plays. He is a great back-up to have with his versatility, but I don't want to have him start. Maybe they can draft DeCastro, Konz or Glen next to all the Bama defenders, Poe and Floyd.

Fuck that I didnt realize that making threads was part of this deal. The op's in those thread are like 6 posts long and shit, seems like more work then it is worth. The biggest fall release for vita i probably the new AC game that vita is getting.

Yeah, not going to lie, that was is just odd. There is no good reason to restrict legal threads on a message board. They're letting the site's size go to their heads, a bit. "Sanctioned" threads? Okay. Yet the bloated, PR-for-free OTs continue to get bigger and bigger and more full of official marketing materials.

Anyone want to buy a slightly used Vita?

PR-for-free
lol, I wonder how many of those are actually done by regular joe's anymore.

Me too. I know of at least one guy who is for sure a marketing guy for a particular company. He sloughed it off by saying "So what if I am?" By and large, people don't care, it seems.

But seems to me if you run a open topic discussion board, you really ought to have a real reason for banning certain types of threads outside of "I don't like them." Their house, their rules, sure, but I wonder if they see the parallels between that mindset and the actions of any other company that restricts user rights for arbitrary reasons. Probably not.

To me posting in an OT for a big game is pointless anyway. It gets buried in tons of other posts, so more specific discussions are more my thing.

I thought the voting thread restrictions were just so people don't create generic threads a la "What is your favourite system/RPG/whatever?" with stupid lists and such?

Yeah, posting in OTs are a double edged sword. You get to shoot the shit about games you like, but you have to wade through hundreds upon hundreds of "my body is ready" and variations of the like. Because those facilitate discussion.

And yeah, that is the official reasoning. But so what? If people didn't like throwing in their two cents about what games they like, this entire site wouldn't exist. No gaming thread in existence has ever not been stupid and pointless. That's the point. Like Ez said, it seems they want gaming side to be all OTs and breaking news type stuff. Which is fine. Just means I'll post more in here and the rap thread more. Less serious business, and actual discussions and not just officially sanctioned PR.

I can't believe there was such a lengthy "trade Bradford" discussion. It's impossible to trade him. Just by trading or cutting him, the cap hit would be something like $20+ million depending on which cap person you believe. So $20m in dead money, plus nothing in return b/c he makes so much money no team would give much for him? No way.

If they really, really, loved RG3 they would have to draft him and keep Bradford on the roster for 2012.

I can't aim well at all in Uncharted, kind of worried about how much I'd enjoy shooters on this thing. Any tips for settings in Uncharted?

Turn off the gyro amaing. It was having big problems aiming with it as well. I just cant hold the system steady enough while playing it. That is the same thing that is killing the 3DS for me. I try to hold it perfectly still but I cant and then the 3D gets messed up so I have to turn it off.

ok, will try that, thanks. I had assumed gryo aiming was only for snipers, not sure where I got that idea.

You get used to it fairly quickly. Have you tried moving the Vita (gyro) to aim instead of the analog sticks? It works surprisingly well. If not, turn it off as yankeehater mentioned.

I finished Uncharted two nights ago, actually. Outside of the terrible boss fights at the end and Bends overuse of touch mini-games, it's a pretty strong launch title.

now I don't know what to do!

I actually liked the end bosses in all the PS3 uncharted games, did you not like those as well?

Give the gyro aiming a shot and see if it clicks for you. It takes some getting used to but it made the game almost too easy at times when you figure out how to properly line up headshots.

If it doesn't do it for you, turn it off as it should stabilize the standard analog aiming.

The first games QTE fest? No.

Uncharted 2 and 3? Yeah, no problems there at all.

For Golden Abyss, take the first games QTE's and replace it with endless touch screen swiping. If you're playing on hard, make it so you can't miss more than twice or you have to do the whole thing over again (on Crushing you can't mess up at all). Oh yeah and you have to do two different full sequences for two different bosses. Yeah, not a fan. Easily the worst aspect of the game for me. Thankfully, it doesn't ruin the overall experience.

EDIT: By the way, Mutant Blob is amazing!

swiping QTE? Eh, we'll see I guess.

Yes to Mutant Blob, getting that made me less tempted to pick up Katamari. Is this similar to the blob game on PSN?

Futurevoid the hand to hand combat in Golden Abyss is touch screen only? You can't turn that off?
Regular melee encounters can be done with a button. Usually the melee finisher is done with a touchscreen swipe though, yeah. I don't believe there is any way to disable those.

As for the last two encounters, yes they are all pure touchscreen swiping and there's no way to disable that.

If we get another we can be like the four horsemen and sign up to the WWE

Also that son of bitch SNES gave me a seahawks avy on his taco bell forum -_-

Taco Bell forum? Is he trying to win a Vita?

Yeah that's pretty unfortunate.
