Scott Parker has just been named England captain and man of the match.

It's a shame for Guidetti that he plays for City.

He's in brilliant form but I can't see him becoming a first team regular when they have Balotelli, Dzeko, Aguero and the returning Tevez in their squad.

I think he may need to move to another club on a permanent deal if he wants regular games.

Guidetti is rumoured to be around 11 million € which is a steal just like Shaqiri. And honestly, I think he has more qualities. Milchmonster, you stand right, Guidetti would be a great fit for Borussia. But you already blew 17M € for Reus.

I think Bayern has better chances.

We *will* sign a decent striker next season. There's a million names circulating. Might as well be him.

Higuain, please.

Good for Parker - during his last season at West Ham he exemplified everything a captain should be to such a degree that the media continually referred to him as our captain, when in-fact our captain was always Matthew Upson.

Still think Hart should be captain long term.

Agree. Tbh, I get why they have given it to Parker (or if they gave it to Gerrard) but their time is over now. May aswell look to the future from now. The Euro's increasingly feels like something England just want to get out the way.

I don't really rate Parker as that great a player either, but I can't help but be happy for him. He may not be captain at the Euro's anyway so I hope he relishes it tonight. Amazing honour.

Wow, what an honour for Parker. Deserves it though I think Hart is a better choice.

Btw don't see City letting Guidetti go. Would be silly.

It would be silly for City to let Guidetti go but there are four very good strikers ahead of him. I just can't see him breaking through and then starting ahead of Aguero and Balotelli.

Don't forget Dzeko as well. It's going to be very hard for Guidetti to get into the City starting 11.

Just saw David Luiz david luizing for Brazil. We should just convert him to a striker already; don't think he'll ever stamp that casualness out of his game unfortunately.

I'm sure he's only captain because there's some kind of über-Captain role reserved for Stevie G.

Fletcher is talking about a next season return being a serious possibility.

I think Hart should be captain. Look to the future now, and I hope stevie retires from the national team soon as.

Would be nice but that illness is never going to go away AFAIK. I just wonder whether it would be wise for United to rely on a guy who is possibly going to be out for long stretches for the rest of his career. He's no King or Hargreaves in terms of quality.

Where do Chelsea fans think he should play?

I doubt he'll ever be a great centre half.

True. I think Ferguson (rationally or not) is going to give him the chance, though.

Can't believe Luiz didn't grasp the urgency of that situation, lol.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him call it quits after the Euro's. Makes sense really. His best days with England are gone and were wasted. Should focus on playing for Liverpool as long as he can a'la Giggs/Scholes.

Is he suffering from AIDS or something like that? How long can it take for an athlete to recover from an illness.

The cure is basically taking out affected sections of the bowel. Which is pretty radical. There are ways to suppress it with drugs and behavioural and dietary changes, which he's undertaking at the moment. The rates of remission are really quite low, relative to comparable conditions, I think.

And its symptoms are exacerbated by physical and emotional stress. Which accounts for the vast majority of a professional footballer's life.

My best friend's gf has the same disease. It's much worse at the start as you get used to it, but you take medicine and as you get used to it its very manageable.

Ah that's interesting. I just wonder whether being an athlete will exacerbate things though.

If that's what's being said, then I have no reason to disbelieve it. Just my observation from the few years that it's been going on.

If it is worse under physical stress, then I can see it being much more inhibiting for an athlete.

Not expecting Fletch to return or if he does be at his best. Him being able to live comfortably would be a great outcome as it is.

If it can be beaten he'll manage it though. Was great to see him in the stands at the derby in January. Apparently he's been using hypnosis to help him recover.

Just in case some of you missed out, Footba...ME3 GAF, GAME/Gamestation won't be stocking Mass Effect 3 and other EA games after SSX:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=464897

If you have a preorder, tough baloney, you're going to have to order elsewhere now and here's the kicker, you will get refunded in the form of GAME credit!

I've not got ME3 pre-ordered but stuff like that (and the story of the guy who had £1300 taken and is going through hell to get it back) means I will never use game/gamestation again. An absolute cunts trick, that.

Mino Raiola on Pogba “We firstly have to discuss a possible renewal with United, then we could talk to other clubs if needed.

“However, if he arrived in Italy, then it would be to play immediately and not to mature.”

He's 18? Good luck with that..lol

Kind of excited as tonight I get to see Chicharito live against Falcao(hopefully for some sort of extended time) in the Mexico vs. Colombia friendly.

Couldn't pass up tickets when they were 30$. Atmosphere should be pretty awesome with the large Latin community in South Florida. Supposed to be 50-60k for an international friendly.

The accumulation of these public comments makes me think Ferguson must have very, very little patience left.

Raiola is straight up saying that Pogba would have little to no competition slotting into Juve.

If Pogba believes that, then he's as borderline disabled as Morrison.

Sensible choice Scott Parker. No point picking someone young when the next manager might come in and take it away from them. I'm sure most people, excluding those of you that seem to hate him for no reason (which for some reason appears to be mainly Liverpool fans) would agree.

I don't think anyone hates him, more a case of disliking his media representation. And the way he constantly pretends to be mildly injured, but then again we have Suarez so we can't complain about things like that :p

I still don't get why are you trying to sell Barrios. I would take him any day, great striker, hard working and he's in the best time of his career.

I don't want to sell Barrios and neither does the club. But Barrios doesn't want to sit on the bench for another year, he already complained after half a year. Lewandowski is better at the moment. So what should we do?
