Halo 4 Announced (MS Conf, 2012, Start Of New Trilogy)

You know what's weird? Tech site The Verge posted a Halo 4 gallery section yesterday, filled with recycled images from last E3/Halofest.

Weird timing co-incidence, eh?

I actually jumped in here to see if this was posted, and what's up with it?

Could be a bug since Vox is starting their gaming site, and right now they are using part of The Verge to host content produced there, and in anticipation of the showcase they probably created a Halo 4 album on their webpage to use in upcoming articles.

Wouldn't put much in it.

Here's to hoping a lot of good game information comes out today so Microsoft can spend all of E3 showing off the new console.

What time is their show supposed to start?

That makes sense, hmm

1. Halo 4 is a Xbox 360 exclusive , no one version for next-gen console
2. These information have been captured from a gameplay session with 343i developers
3. Master Chief have a new armour with something organic that helps him in battle
4. This new feature appears in video like hexagonal pieces, when he was hit by enemy fire, that change some armour aspect
5. The story is now focused in the relationship between Master Chief and this new alien element

And confirmed as fake as my American accent.

What I find hilarious is that that described suit is essentially the Crysis Nanosuit. Wow people are gullible

We need some real news. Or at least a confirmation or denial of Halo 4 @ the spring showcase.

If you replace "organic alien" with "cortana" does this really seem that farfetched?

The lack of confidence and faith Microsoft has in Halo 4 is astounding. Ten years ago Halo was a juggernaut; now Microsoft can't be bothered to market it.

No we are just accustomed to Bungie showing us too much before the game is released. I rather then give us as little info until things are solid unlike Halo 3 where we were promised scarab chase levels and saw pictures of armor that got massively toned down.

I suppose. I guess I prefer this to the marketing of Halo 2. "Check out this awesome earth level! Also, we have four different types of Warthogs this time! Better get out your moon boots, because a few campaign levels may feature reduced gravity, and here's an extra grenade type we're including in this game!*"

*Note: everything we may have said/shown about a Halo 2 may or may not have been complete bullshit.

Yeah better waiting until all parts of the game are solid gameplay and graphic wise before they start showing us stuff. That way when we get it we wont be disappointed by minor things like the armor quality change in Halo 3 MP from Beta.

Either way, considering Ass Creed Tri's unveiling is imminent. Halo 4 will be the last major title of the year to be shown, despite being the one that'll probably be released first.

We had an announcement trailer at e3 2006 and a gameplay trailer at e3 2007 for halo 3

All we had between the two afaik was a single screenshot of chief...

This is normal

As the other two mentioned, we had the Et Tu, Brute? vidoc in December 2006, the MP pre-Alpha EGM reveal shortly after (or before, they were close together), and the entire MP public Beta before E3.

That said, the trend with Halo games has been to wait until they have been in an increasingly polished state before revealing them, ever since Halo 2. Showing content planned for the game before the mid-development reboot continues to get referenced (and just was). Bungie showed an early look at the Halo 3 Campaign in the Brute vidoc and had to spend months tampering down the confusion from idiots who didn't understand the concept of "it's not done yet".

Personally, I'm pretty content to wait until the game is ready for prime time. I still hold Skyrim's reveal as being pretty much perfect: in February of the year it came out, Bethesda gave one day notice that the first gameplay trailer was incoming, and then bam, released it in all its glory. I'd be happy to see Halo 4 follow that pattern - just wait until they're ready to go.

Well I heard Halo 4's going to be an XBLA title.

(Actually, fuck. Now that I think about it, there is literally nothing to suggest otherwise)

GUYS FUUUUUUCK, THEY'RE PUTTING IT ON XBLA.
