I stopped at a mall to get some lunch on my way to a deposition and after some tasty Chick Fil A (I rarely eat fast food but if I do this is my go to place) I went inside a GameStop (have not been in one in a long ass time) and checked out the Vita. I was very impressed with the hardware and I could see myself wasting money on it in the future if they improve the battery and there was some way to play emulated games on it.

The only negative I saw was the price of the games but I agree with other GAFers that this might be the perfect console for sports games on the go. If I get get SNES games on it (I would pay to get them legally too) and the battery can last 5 hours I would get one.

Buy one.Its totally worth it.

The battery already lasts over 4 hours for me with the brightness on default. It you turn the brightness down I am sure you could get over 5 hours. I really am excited for Madden on it, I hope they dont just mail it in this year. I am worried about a new team and new hardware.

then you'll get Final Fantasy IV, V, VI, and Chrono Trigger.

As long as they have no loading I would get all of them.

That is probably enough 16 bit goodness for me. Just needs a better battery. I would like a handheld to get AT LEAST 5 hours per charge. Hopefully in ver 2.0. Though getting a launch console is always a ton of fun.

Sounds more like the Redskins organization being too stupid to force him to go to one or more eye doctors and get thoroughly checked.

So how about those hands in light of the two interceptions Rogers had off Eli Manning Sunday in a 27-20 win over the New York Giants?

“They’re always the same. ... I didn’t get any surgery done to them. I’m just concentrating catching the ball. That’s about it,” says Rogers.

Clearly, Rogers had an opportunity here to mention an offseason eye exam, and did not do so. And clearly, this is the kind of thing reporters would LOVE to write stories about.

So, did it happen? I have no idea. But former teammate Phillip Daniels keeps saying it did, including during a Monday radio appearance with Chad Dukes and Danny Rouhier.

Daniels:

“It’s something I heard from several sources. The thing is, I mentioned it to several coaches way back. The first few years he was here and he was having trouble catching the ball, I think I mentioned it to Gregg Williams and I mentioned something to the training staff. I was telling them he needed to get his eyes checked, because we had a guy in Seattle named Fred Thomas who had the same situation, missing a lot of balls.

“So I suggested it and everybody just brushed it off, nobody would listen to me. So he goes to the 49ers, they get his eyes checked, and I’m hearing he’s wearing contact lenses, and that’s the reason he’s doing so well. And a lot of people say, well, why do they have to pay for Carlos Rogers to get his eyes checked? And I keep telling them, most guys don’t realize, they don’t believe that something’s wrong with them. They feel like they’re fine, my eyes are just perfect, I’m doing everything else, why would I go get my eyes checked?

“As a team, you have to really just take that guy to get them checked, to thoroughly get them checked. Several people said that’s what happened.”

he did notify his redskins coaching staff when he was in washington and they ignored it. redskins are to blame here!

and chuckddd welcome to the year 2003 or whenever that shit came out!

I understand that. But this is what I have to say. As an adult, you should want to better yourself. If he was fine being mediocre for 3/4 of his career out of spite, then that says A LOT about his character. Not only was he letting his team down but he was short-changing himself. I've been a fan of his and a defender too. He's always been a GREAT cover-corner. IF he had been catching INT's with any consistency, he would have been in MANY probowls and made MUCH MUCH MUCH more money earlier on.

But now he's getting up there in age and lost out on a lot of money. So while I agree that the Redskins org was retarded and poorly run. I also hold his accountable as a GROWN ASS MAN for doing what he needed to do for HIMSELF. IMO, that's the evidence of a weak minded individual.

So I don't disagree with much of anything you guys said. But he too is largely to blame, I can't look past that.

LiveWire, Carlos Rogers had the game winning INTERCEPTION in his hands against the Seahawks when we went to the playoffs... I believe this was the year that Sean Taylor passed. And u know what, he dropped it because he's throwing a temper tantrum and trying to prove a point out of spite. Sorry dude, I blame him more. One man looking at another, I can't respect that. This man wasted years of his career over $200 (exam + contacts). I wish him the best moving forward.

Jets going after Braylon?

I think it is a good move if he is healthy, was productive for them and seemed to work well with Sanchez. Very cost effective, get the wideout help for cheap and then hopefully spend money on the right side of the line, use the draft for safety/pass rusher.

Also Hightower to steelers (pray that wont happen)
Goddamn, if Richardson somehow dropped to us @ 15, fuck taking a LB/Floyd/Cox! A Shady/Richardson backfield??? Shit, just get excited thinking about that.

Anyway, I've played around with the Vita at Bestbuy a few weeks ago and wasn't that impressed. All I'd really want is Lumines/MLB: The Show and that's not worth $200+ at this point... But I'll probably crack when there's better deals/games this fall/christmas.

My god at the meltdowns people would have if they took a RB but I agree that they cant pass on him at 15, especially with shadys status with the team so up in the air.

Sim City 5, all aboard hype train.

Don't see your name? give your team.

Houston Texans ( ) - MechDX, smokey, miguel , captive , jmdajr, Vyer

A rough start going by who has posted so far this offseason, if i missed you, you clearly didn't post your allegiance enough or didn't post enough ever. So if you feel wronged shut up suck, add your name and then start posting more if you want to ping to my radar
Bulls on Parade, Next Man Up, etc. etc.

You could get those games on the Vita whenever they make PS1 games playable.

The PS1 versions of those games are turds with load times. I will never pay money (again) for a classic 16 bit game that has load times. I learned that lesson the hard way on the PS1.

Is yankee's experience with battery life the norm? I was hearing sub 4 hour times with normal usage.

if that includes online play then that's probably accurate. The battery life is decent I'd say, nothing like the DS, on par with 3ds. I can have it on standby all day and not have it be a problem.

The bolded is all that really needs to be said. A professional sports organization needs to do as much as it can do to keep the players healthy and productive. For example, providing players with free taxi services so they don't have to drive home after drinking. Personal health is a sensitive issue, regardless of gender. Sometimes people refuse to seek out medical attention (whether physical or mental) because they feel they are OK. If the stories are true, someone at the Niners organization sat him down and worked through his fears/doubts. It sounds sappy, but look at the results!

And don't remind me about those Seahawks playoff games. Gibbs should've had at least 1 NFC Championship appearance in his second run. :(

Watching Hey Rookie, Welcome to the NFl 2005, what the fuck happened to Kevin Jones? Also it's so weird seeing Big Ben small to how fat he is now

To be quite honest, Mario Williams shouldn't be a free agent. The Houston Texans failing to negotiate a contract extension with Williams before his deal expired will go down as one of the great mistakes in league history, like the Eagles failing to lock up Reggie White, or the Falcons letting Deion Sanders go. Their inability to lock up Williams with the franchise tag is going to be a franchise-defining moment for two teams: the Texans and whatever team is lucky enough to add the most valuable defender in the history of free agency to their roster.

How about "no"? I love Mario and think he is a great talent but he will be stupidly overpaid this offseason by someone.

How is Mario worth all that money? He's always hurt and has effort issues. I'm sure he'll looked good for awhile wherever he ends up, then his production will fall off as his injuries and give-a-fuck issues manifest

The Texans were dumb for making it so that they couldn't get any compensation when he left

Clearly you skimmed over the beginning of the article and haven't read the purpose of these "free agent files":

Disclaimer: This article is part of my series on free agency from the perspective of the agent, where I prepare Scott Boras-esque "books" that detail where each player stands in the marketplace and why he deserves as much of your team's money as possible. Normally, my goal is to use statistics and historical context to present the most accurate depiction of football that we can, but in this series, all I want to do is convince you to spend money on the player in question. As a result, I may include information or suggest comparisons that I don't necessarily agree with, just as an agent might try to play up his clients' strengths. Keep that in mind when you're reading.

I like Mario Williams but I think a huge, Haynesworth type contract would be a massive overpay for his impact. Thankfully (hopefully) the Skins are all set with Orakpo and Carriker at the edges so Danny won't' be tempted.

Mannnn I don't want to hear that shit. We're talking about a fucking eye exam, not life threatening surgery. He knew his eyes were fucked up, he just refused to do anything about it on his own.

Lemme ask u this. If ur place of employment was hindering ur ability to progress and grow, are you going to sit there for 4 years and be stagnant? Hell no! You're gonna learn when you need to learn on your own.

Only a weak minded individual would allow another person to curb their potential to succeed. He's lost out on millions and an awesome legacy because he wanted someone else to baby him and wipe his ass for him. I personally dont want anyone that can't motivate themselves for their own gain or for that of their teammates on the team anyway.

I dunno man. Nobody is held accountable for their own actions anymore. It burns me up! Lol. So please don't take anything I said personally. Cus I agree with most of what you're saying, I just can't get with absolving this dude of what HE did to himself and his teammates.

A damn millionaire stunting is career over a 200 gotdamn dollar eye exam. Lol.

I wouldn't be shocked if that's why Mike let him walk. I'm a firm believer of, u can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves. Carlos comes off like he was stuck in his emotions about being mistreated. And he was! But U can't let that jam ur career up!

I think like the very first free agent as well

fake edit 4 years 17 million according to this source which i have no clue the validity of such source.

http://answers.encyclopedia.com/question/reggie-white-contract-green-bay-packers-worth-376153.html

well certainly not if you include plan B, but I'd say he was the first big time signing.

up!

I think that because it was just an eye exam is why it's understandable that he didn't get it addressed. It is very common for people to not realize that their vision has actually degraded, and it does not take much to greatly affect your depth perception. You don't realize the difference until you get it corrected.

what!? And eye exam plus two pairs of glasses is still just 70 bucks in DC!

Man, the Colts need to cut Manning already. Need to see if he's going to us or Miami. Still say we're his best option.

Haven't checked out the mocks post Combine, will have to do that. Unless Reiff somehow drops to us, I think I want DeCastro. Probably the most NFL ready, should be a pro bowler in time and we need an upgrade at RG. Not nearly as bad as tackles, but I'm afraid to pick Adams or Martin...don't need a Levi Brown 2.0 . If not DeCastro, then Upshaw.

Our Guards are actually pretty decent, its just Levi the Human Turnstile Brown that drags the quality of the line down. I think it'll be OLB or T but Upshaw's combine numbers were a bit off, seems like hes a bit of a tweener OLB/DE and might be better suited to a 4-3 defense.

Saw it but doesnt sway from the fact: he will be grossly overpaid by someone. I think before March 13th the Texans will offer him a contract that will be fair but will not be some stupid amount. Then we will see if he really wants to stay here or be paid.

I believe he will go where the money is.

You're only as valuable as what someone's willing to pay you. Can you blame him for following the money? Most guys, especially elite players, only have a few years to cash in. I know it sucks cause it directly affects your team, but if someone is willing to outspend you...that's just the breaks.
