God I hated that part. How the hell did he cut the train in half? He just threw something behind him the the train completely fell apart. HOOOWWWW????!!!!!!!!

Nobody was saying he was the best. Only that he's better than Nolan. But I think we've come full circle.

Here is a better fuse:

Danny Boyle > Nolan

Maybe. Using 'Scullibundo's Patentend Spielbergometer':

Sunshine, Trainspotting, Shallow Grave > 28 Days Later > 127 Hours, Millions, Slumdog > The Beach, Life Less Ordinary.

Memento, Prestige, TDK > Insomnia, Batman Begins > Inception.

Just as good I'd say. Best director working today is Park Chan-Wook

I think you are nuts to put Shallow Grave alongside Sunshine, Trainspotting and 28 Days Later. It's a very good first effort, but that seems VERY odd to me.

And A Life Less Ordinary is actually one of my favourite Boyle films. I think the film is fucking hilarious and I enjoy it more every time I watch it. Ewan <8

I think a good exercise would be to list a director and impose a restriction - something that they CAN'T do on their next film.

Eg: Nolan - nobody is allowed to wear a suit.

No one. Leave Batman the fuck alone for ten years.

Don't do one for twenty years and then do Dark Knight Returns with Nolan, Bale and recast Joker.

I just think it's really entertaining and Eccleston's great in it.

I actually agree with this but it won't happen, too much money left on the table. I personally would love to see a film with Nightwing, Batgirl, and the other Robin solving a mystery together but I know no one would pay for it to be made and no one would watch.

Didn't he throw the same thing he used to blow up the walls in Arkham earlier in the movie?

Something like this could be ok, although Ridley is busy enough as it is.

Same here. Say what you will about the franchise (I think it's a guilty pleasure), but Lin knows how to direct a coherent action sequence.

He's pretty much above Michael Bay level at this point. Killing the god damn game in such a short time.

Slumdog is better than anything Nolan's ever done.

oh wow

First half was relatively okay, the child actors were good, but then fucking hell it turns into something more mawkish than anything Spielberg's ever done. All the love and fate and bollocks, fuck me. It was just boring.

Train cars are connected to each other by relatively flimsy hooks. He tosses an explosive behind him, and the hook along with the back wall gets blown apart, which makes the car behind screech and slow down. Look at it closely.

What on earth...

So much wrong. Wow.

Hahaha. No seriously, I love Sunshine and Trainspotting, but I think my expectation levels for Fast Five were so low and it surprised me I just loved it.

Don't rate Boyle that high though, four great to very good films. I can't even think who apart from Park and Tarantino I really love at the moment.

Nope. And I hate all the other Fast & Furious films, but Fast Five is the best action film in years.

EDIT: I really like Nolan, but no way the best director working.
Fast Five wasn't even the best action movie of it's year. Raid, Ghost Protocol, Hanna, 13 Assassins, Ironclad -- all better than Fast Five.

but it's okay to be wrong.

I haven't seen the Raid but it looks great. Attack The Block was a great action movie if it can be classified as that.

Hanna & 13 Assassins was pretty good, Ghost Protocol was okay. Ironclad was shit. But it's okay to have different opinions.

I haven't seen The Raid, but I can imagine it being just as good. Hanna, Ghost Protocol, both made my top 10 of the year, AAA class stuff, non debateable. But Fast Five had the characterization that put it over the top for me. Such a lovingly pop film. Excellent multicultural cast that bounce off each other like rubber balls. Excellent scenery, well paced self concious script. I could go on, but tthe facts are on the screen people, I'm not a preacher. Open your eyes for yourself.

Which years does Fast Five supremacy cover? I'd be delighted to name more films that are better than it.

Alright, give me a list since 2006. I'd be delighted to not reply when you post said list due to caring less about your opinion than you do mine.

I would make a list, but quite frankly, I'd get way too tired naming all of the action films which are better than FF starting from'06.

For fuck sake people take your god damned game faqs wanna be circle jerk "who is the better film maker" bullshit to another thread.
