NFL Off-Season Thread: "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"

Dunno, sometimes he seems goofy, sometimes douchy, and sometimes like a headcase (his private life, IMO). Makes it hard to root for him. Maybe a bit like Jay Cutler. Now THAT'S a guy who actually gets way too much shit.

What is the deal with his private life? I know he has a bunch of kids but is there something more?

I also like Rivers but he has that Marino/Manning thing where he starts blaming others when things go poorly.

Hasn't he been married for like 10 years to the same woman and all of the kids are theirs?

Is that now a strange thing in America? Sad.

Seems highly religous. I remember watching some abstinence program with his wife and him, dude just comes of as wierd. Dude is a NFL QB and married his ugly high school sweet heart, c'mon man step yo game up.

I only saw some videos where came across as overly religious, saving yourself for marriage and all that jazz. And I think he has like 6 kids by now.
I guess I just disagree deeply with him on a personal level. Maybe I should be more tolerant.

If Jay Cutler was not traded to the Bears, things would have been so different in the NFL today. I think he made a better Bronco then a Bear. Plus Tebow mania might not have existed. I hate mind fucks.

Does the mother look something like this?

I was questioning Milchjon's assertion that he was "weird" in his private life. I knew he had a bunch of kids with his wife. I didn't know about the religious thing, which I guess now is weird and alarming

Well, I have a hard time dealing with religion in general, and especially when it comes to stuff like abstinence programs. But well, this is not the thread to discuss these things, they're personal choices and if he's happy, who am I to complain.

And Ez, of course I'm not talking about being married for a long time and being happy. That's my ideal, too. But I question openly lobbying for abstinence.

He was due 5.2, his cut will save the Steelers 2.3 according to steelersdepot

Ridiculously overpaid.

No, this is the place to talk about it. Try it in another thread and you're risking a long gaf-cation.

Haha, maybe. But I'm not comfortable with deeper discussions about moral questions anyway due to the language barrier. I'm not able to express myself accurately enough, so I'll keep to stuff like "Steelers suck". Which also has the advantage of being an objective truth, unlike moral opinions.

Language barrier? That post is already more eloquently-written than most native American English speakers could produce.

Nice to see the downfall of the Steelers beginning. Now we just need Lebeau to retire and I can go back to forgetting about that shit stain of a team for another decade. Bring back the 80s please.

Ward was not a key part of the offense last season. Smith has played 5 games in the last 2 seasons. And Farrior has been inferior.

The Browns can't name 3 players of that quality in the last 10 years. We can swap them out and move 3 new guys in and continue kicking ass.

In the first round of the 2012 draft, the Cleveland Browns select an "I WIN" button. It's probably the best chance they have.

Sadly they need so much help on offense that I'm not sure that giving up a boat load of picks for a QB is anything close to a solution. They really need to upgrade their receiving core and the right side of the O-line.

Finally watched Run, Ricky, Run. Fascinating stuff. I guess he's retired now, but are there any newer stories about how his (private) life worked out for him since that film was shot?

We need to implement a draft clock. Inevitably, somebody's on the clock, but then mysteriously disappears from gaf for 3 days. I'm not talking 15 minutes, but how about 12 hours or the next team gets to jump you like you're the Vikings?

Last year, the first round flew by, but when we got to the second, it fizzled out about halfway. Better to stick to one round this year.

I've alao been thinking we should do it earlier than we did last year.

Yeah, people did mysteriously go missing. Admittedly there were certain people who were not offseason regulars. Hopefully it will be easier to fill out a draft roster this year with active people.

I don't think anyone correctly picked a second round guy anyways. :jncrappymock
