Is a bounty what I think it is? They pay each other when a player injures another player with 'a price on his head' ?

NFL security determined between 22 and 27 defensive players on the Saints, as well as at least one asst. coach, maintained a bounty program.

NFL investigation of Saints began in 2010 when allegations were made that Saints targeted QBs such as Brett Favre and Kurt Warner.

Investigation reviewed 18.000 documents totaling more than 50,000 pages. Commissioner Goodell will determine the discipline.

NFL determined that former Saints DC Gregg Williams administered the program with knowledge of other defensive coaches.

Discipline for the Saints could include fines, suspensions and forfeiture of draft choices.

I've been saying for years that Louisiana is the worst state in the Union and New Orleans the epicenter of that awfulness. No surprise at this news, and I want the Rams to fire Gregg Williams yesterday. I was already questionable on the guy and his getting torched by Alex Smith, and this seals it. Gone gone gone

"According to the NFL, the bounty pool totaled upwards of $50K at times w/ payments for "knock-out hits" w/ players and coaches contributing"

Goodell cannot go around suspending James Harrison and not lay the hammer to Payton, Loomis, and Williams. Gotta love the Rams. They won't have a defensive coordinator in a couple of days, and no one out there will be available.

you guys are looking for the top pick again next season anyways, who cares about a DC?

You could always hire another Rutgers coach before Schiano takes him.

Buddy Ryan was notorious for this shit.

When he put a bounty on the Cowboys kicker and he and Jimmy Johnson went at it was the funniest thing.

Fisher is a Buddy Ryan protege and is best buds with Williams. They were probably in the middle of implementing a system for the Rams. Which would have been a good change of pace from McDaniels and the WRs drop passes bounty (Kendicks run away winner)

Saints D is soft as fuck, pool got so high because no one can hit worth a shit.

Yeah, both Williams and Fisher come from the Ryan tree.

Apparently they gave bonuses for interceptions, fumbles etc. which is violating the salary cap.

This is gonna be very very interesting.

A lot of teams do that though. You also pay fines if you drop an int, fumble, drop a TD. They then give the money to charity or some shit.

Fuck me...

At least we have that number 2 pick..

RT @ClemPalevich: Does Gregg Williams face any discipline now that he is with Rams? ... Yes. I expect the punishment to be significant.

I think the solution is simple--Saints have to forfeit their playoff victory to Detroit and the entire playoffs must be replayed from that point forward.

Seriously, though, they should take away all of their draft picks. There's no way Goodell and crew let them off lightly.
