ganking with enigma slows down your farm. How are you supposed to get a 10 minute blink you're you're constantly

ganking? Sometime you gotta MAN UP and win your 2v1 without a squishy walking ultimate to back you up.

Cool, I'll give those guys a shot...I thought Shadow Shaman would've been a bit tougher for some reason but I'll give him a shot. Any reason Death Prophet isn't in this tier? I've seen quite a few pubbers around my level really mix it up well with her.

DP is a good hero to play once you get a decent grasp of the game. She has some utility and a farming spell, and will teach you to have good positioning or you'll die constantly.

Stay away from storm spirit though, he's pretty hard to play.

Enigma's got nothing on farming compared to Nature's Prophet.

Teleport? That's only for getting to the other jungle creeps. Also the ultimate is the best way to teach those laners to man up and learn to win lanes without relying on those silly items. Real men fight naked.

jesus christ I can't win with AM.
I do a good job (surely better than others in my team) but I lose 'cause 3/4 of the team play like shit. damn solo queue.

btw is joindota.com down or what?

Adapt to the way the game is going. Sometimes doing early battlefury isn't the way to go. Vanguard into manta may be the better choice. Though sometimes no matter what you do you can't win.

Joindota is working for me, atleast the main page is.

I always go for vanguard and manta. XD

dunno, you're from EU or USA? Can't understand. =/

adding to the list of things they need to fix

-make people pick their heroes before the time is up or give them a penalty. people just sit and wait to counter even like 2 minutes late

So, how do I learn to play without everyone hating me?

play with 4 people you know. lol

and be sure to watch some tutorial videos. there are many on youtube that discuss some of the basic concepts.

Pick Lich, buy courier and ward. Lane with a partner and let him take all the last hits. You only deny creeps and harass. Buy wards when old wards expire.

oh, you can get bitched at as Lich. getting too aggressive, trying to do too much with harassing, etc. the trick of harassing is knowing the other characters (to know if you're getting to close and putting yourself in jeopardy...something a new player won't know for a long, long time), so he'll have to do everything with great moderation. and even then, it'll take awhile before he knows what "moderation" means in this game.

Lich is fine, but play with friends.

You can get yelled at for being too passive as lich as well...

Get into the habit of buying wards before the current ones expire. You don't want to have an important sector of the map dark for 5-10 minutes because you couldn't safely roam down to the spot promptly after a ward purchase. Having wards in your inventory minutes before they expire lends far greater flexibility.

So, how do I learn to play without everyone hating me?

Be like me and just take it for a 100 matches or so, learning from people better than you, looking up builds and strategies, and taking it all in. When I first got into this genre on HoN around this time last year, all I did was play with GAF for just about a 100 matches, and though I was new and sucked, people like
Meeru
would play with me constantly to help me get better at the game. Eventually I solo queue'd constantly, my MMR would drop to the 1000-1300 range and things became very tough for me with teammates who could not help me if they wanted to, eventually after 1000 matches I'm where I'm at today with knowledge of every hero role and skill set, mostly playing casual no stats involved mid only matches, and with my point being, just play. The game is complicated enough with item, skill, and team compositions that text itself will not give you the knowledge and experience to get decent at this genre. People hating on you is just something you have to try to ignore, and for me sometimes it did get to me, but no pain no gain.

Long story short, if you really want to play without everyone hating you, play with GAF and play as often as you can. Read up on heroes that are relatively easy to play, master them, and then move up the ladder one step at a time.

People are going to hate you, the sooner you accept this and learn to deal with it the more fun your DOTA career will be.

The 3/4 waves of creeps isn't enough?

No. Because I'm so bad At farming it wouldn't make a difference. We played one of the worst games ever today. I swear it was the most I've raged.

I can't do that anymore I start to sound like the people I hate

I was worried about getting yelled at my first game, but we had two people feeding, one dc, and 2 AFK after 15 minutes, and no communications. Yay!

Honestly... I had loads of fun last night. Hope I wasn't too annoying over the mic. I finally got voice chat set up right... but I'm using my lappy's internal.

Nope your mic is fine, had a blast as well (this game can be fun when you are winning)

agree. I think I mentioned yesterday that the tentative teammate is one of the 3 worst kinds you can have. the guy who gets hit a few times, tucks tail and runs with full mana. lol

i think the bottom line here is: you will get bitched at unless you play with friends. though even then, the other team will be happy to make fun of you. so best advice is probably to just ignore it and learn the game.

"thanks for the feed lich lolololol"

Global Silence goes through magic immunity. Good to know.

Not that it mattered that game. Had two people that, no matter how many of the enemy team were dead, would never leave the base or farming the jungle. Oh well. Yay pubs!

Many ults do. Something to keep in mind.

Or you could just, you know, look it up.

http://www.dota2wiki.com/wiki/Magic_Immunity

I'm not sure that's a complete list. I mean, it doesn't list what does go through it and for the ones that don't I'm pretty sure it's missing some. I could have sworn I blocked Anti-Mage's ultimate with my bkb in the very same game. I could be wrong. Maybe I'll take a look at the replay...

Edit: Ah, the mini-stun went but not the damage. Carry on then.

Same here. Lost the last 7-8 games I think. People don't care about team composition. Some pick a mid champ like Pudge and after the picks are done they say they go bot or top with their buddy who picked a dumb champ for that lane so a meele has to go mid and gets destroyed + they rage at the team in their language when they get outplayed in their save lane.
Solo mm is the best mm.

Melee mid can actually be safer than a sidelane depending on the heroes. Only one person to harrass you so you can get in - last hit - and get out.

People are gonna play whatever they want to, no sense getting too upset about it.

PS: I found it interesting that you listed pudge, a melee, as a mid hero, but went on to say that melee mid isn't proper. As chair said, melee mid is fine.

I a still a noob and afaik there are only a few meele champs that can do mid pretty fine like Pudge, NS, Bloodseeker or Axe.

Just when I thought I was turning the corner, I lay a fuckin goose egg of a game..0-16..I got outlaned and was stuck at level 7 for the longest time with no gold and a complete inability to farm jungle due to my low level...back to the drawing board..

Pretty much all melee can do mid decent. The reason pudge, NS, bloodseeker etc goes there is to get the fast levels since they can be very agressive early if they get them. There are of course other reasons, such as putting a dragon knight mid just so you free up the other lanes for better configurations for your chosen team.
