Guys does anyone know how I can fix this problem I'm having? Sometime yesterday I could no longer find a match or create a lobby and it continues to persist. I can press the buttons and the game just doesn't do anything, at the moment I have to have someone else in my party and they set everything up.

So after having Stahsky taunt me with telling about every wave of invites that goes out, I finally got in!
I did it 2 days ago with my friend, it's really hard to do and if you fail, you're always down 1 player. The Slardar on the enemy team said he was gonna report me for abuse, but it's not abuse, Valve left it in on purpose.
yep, it seems more like a "lucky shot" and not really a thing you can do everytime.

At one point for me it was mostly the opposing team having someone quit, resulting in abandonment before we even had a chance to win

also, I find it happens sometimes as a consequence of people connecting from distant countries...or simply running out of time to play. it can be hard to block out 30 minutes uninterrupted sometimes.
There's low/mid/high tier games based on how many wins you have, from what I've heard
It's not just number of wins, but personal statistics I think.
I am only about 50/50 but when I play by myself I'm usually in the mid bracket and when I queue with Milk or Procarbine I'm matched up against the most awful tryhards.
Not that I play by myself anymore so that may have changed.

I believe its based on your performance. I started in Low skill, went mid, then high... then a friend that was completely new to dota got in and we queued and lost a lot of games which put me back to mid then low....and now I'm back in mid again. So I don't believe its based solely on wins, more like recent performance per bracket.
Go to replays and sift through them by bracket. You'll find out if most of your matches are in High, Mid or Low.
Also they're all pretty different animals really. Of course there's overlap but you can really feel when you're in High, or Low.

There is a hidden mmr, the tiers indicate what range of hidden mmr (or ELO, or DOTA2SKILL, or whatever you want to call it) the teams had.
There is a difference between high tier games and other high tier games (or mid and mid games etc), the page number on the watch tab is usually a good indication of hidden mmr with the first pages having the highest mmr.
(with page 1 being slightly distorted due the amount of spectators also being a factor when deciding the order of the game)
