Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

The most important part of the ending: The moment you gained control to pick a path, who all tried to shoot the kid first?

You all fucking better have.

I was so fucking confused at that point so I just walked towards the middle, even though now I support the destroy ending because of the indoctrination theory.

Cerberus was exposed mostly through side quests, though you can piece together their connection and involvement in numerous main quest locations (like the Rachni lab on Noveria). TIM wasn't, but at that point I figure BioWare were establishing Cerberus on a smaller scale to increase their significance in sequels.

I doubt they were thinking that far ahead...

It makes no sense though. In 2 or 3 years or whatever, they go from this CIA-gone-bad organization to this corporation that can make sexy ninja robots and cereal eating assassins.

They were more than a CIA-gone-bad organisation. They were an active group with fingers deep in science and politics, hence the heavy handed conspiracies implied and outright discussed in ME1. ME2 establishes that they have significant funding from numerous pro-human groups, including anonymous high ranking alliance officials. Them suddenly having an army in a shot period of time doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it's no less absurd than the other stupid shit each game has done.

Like, you know, humans being spread all over the galaxy in such a short amount of time after discovering relays.

After I heard the choices I tried to shoot that little bitch in the head, hoping it was another choice. Alas, I was wrong.

Shot the shit out of that kid. Then I picked destroy. Even though I brought peace to the Geth, even if I were to die, the reapers had to be destroyed. Feels good to pick the right answer :D

Hear, hear!

My thoughts when he stopped yapping away: "These crappy choices can't possibly it."

I even walked the other way, lol. And then, I got pissed off and just chose the destroy option. I wanted that kid to die. Not to live and be controlled. Not to be a hybrid. But to cease existing.

Question for y'all.

How much war assets would you 'rank' Cerberus?

I say at least 500, but less than 1000. Having a cartoonish amount of soldiers and weapon tech helps. Kai Leng is at least 100 in theory. And TIM's connections/brains and R&D are easily the best around.

I say a solid 700?

They mention in one point that the reason there are so many Cerberus agents in ME3 is because they're indoctrinating the people who come to Sanctuary and turning them into troops.

I think their army was from Sanctuary and whatnot.

I'm certain they were. Much like the apparently abandoned dark energy plot, it is not uncommon (and in fact expected) for writers to sew seeds of material that can be expanded in future work. The overarching plot line for Cerberus would not have been established at that point, but they wrote them into the first game for a reason. They did not give the organisation full closure. Same goes for the Shadow Broker. They put them there to give the player themes to think about that may or may not be used in the future.

Forgot about this. So yes, there's the answer.

Something must be wrong with me. I was going to skip ME3. But now even after reading this thread and watching many of the cut-scenes on youtube I really want to replay the series. Even though I know the ending kind of sucks, what is wrong with me.

From watching some vids, I kept hearing about an ExoGeni (?) corporation. Kept feeling like a conspiracy angle. But I don't remember ExoGeni being mentioned in 2 or 3.

That had to be my biggest "oh shit" moment in the game. It came completely out of left field to me. I was just on my way for another routine chat with Garrus and walked in on that.

Yeah me too, I thought "oh I better go chat with all my squad members before the final push" and I opened the door and was like "whoa!"

They're not expanded in 2 or 3, but I assume they were one of Cerberus' fronts.

Same. I didn't even realize there were choices. I just saw the big beam and thought "okay, this is what I have to do next".

NAh, it was only ever just a very big/powerful human corporation with possible Cerberus ties (given TIM's network/resources, you can easily come to this conclusion). The later games were a bit more focused on alien...stuff outside of the Alliance and Cerberus.

Just beat the game a few hours ago. I laughed.

In ME1, they were more like the Smoking Man from the X-files or something like that. A shadowy group that has players across the universe... then suddenly, they're a competing army with as much or more resources than the Alliance itself in terms of manpower and wealth. I don't really mind... It's just weird is all.

The Krogans with the genophage cured and Wrex, Eve, and Grunt alive are about 800 neither organization have warship, but both have an large amount of troops take that for what you will.

Exogeni was just a Corporation that sponsored colonies and provided them with supplies in exchange for research. They aren't really evil, but they do treat the Feros colonist from the first game like shit.

Edit: Yah they might be a Cerberus front

I'm still slightly annoyed how they never used the one major Shadow Broker decision in ME1 in the later games.

It should also be noted that Cerberus was very hush-hush and nobody knew about them in ME1 (Hell, Kohoku practically dies just obtaining their name), while by ME2 they're practically a household name.

speaking of which, Either liara is horrible at her job, or does every single npc seems to know she's the shadow broker? You know something is off when even Krogans know who you are =/

Ok, I went to war with nearly 7000 EMS, 100% galaxy readiness, and got the three different ending choices and picked synthesis (Anderson gets shot, but I convinced TIM to shoot himself), but I didn't get the "breath" cutscene. Does anyone know how to get that? I played on insane, using a paragon ME2 save.

A) The one where if you don't give him information, he promises to get you back? (MUAHAHAHAHAHA).

B) Yep. They were super shadowy and didn't want people to know about them. Heck, your Shepard then didn't really know about them either.

You need to pick Destroy.

Have to pick destroy

It makes sense that her close friends know who she is right? I'm assuming all the ME1 and ME2 squad members know she's the shadow broker.

Anyone else got the Maskless Tali picture?
Mass-Effect-3-Tali-vs-Stock-photo-Spoilers.jpeg

You know, someone should really do a photoshop (or whatever) of that old MGS4 ending rage comic but sub in the ME3 ending stuffs. Instead of "Do you rike it?" at the end of it, causing the player to rage you could sub in the little DLC promt. Would be hilarious.

I thought the exact same thing when Wrex knows and hasn't seen you in two years you know you've got bad leaks.

I don't remember them having a fleet of ships or anything. Cerberus never seemed that over the top to me in context of the ME universe. I thought it was cool that they were built on into a bigger role in ME2 rather than creating a whole new shadowy group for the story.

I thought Wrex knew because Liara helped get him Mordin's leaked footage. Between friends, you know?

I thought you could mention it to a few people and they'd note the name (Anderson maybe?). But yeah, their involvement and size was increased for ME2. Ascension boosts them mostly.

She kills herself? She gave it to me because I romanced her. Thanks for the close up, the ingame picture is small.

If you are unable to broker peace between the Geth and Quarians and you back the Geth, Tali commits suicide by throwing herself off the cliff after the Quarian Fleet is destroyed.

Oh god :(

So is there a way to save Legion?I read the wiki and it seems he dies not matter what.

Had a horrible thought. What if the "breath" body at the end, was....James. He became N7 before the end, was probably on Earth, and not crashing with the Citadel....

:/

Well, even in ME2, you have all this logistical support that keeps you running that implies some larger organization of intelligence and resources. In my mind, they were Blackwater or Haliburton, manipulating the President of the Alliance/Udina, rather than this active force that could eventually build a force that could take on the Citadel (even if they did it via secret means).

If you play FemShep, it's Hale doing the breathing.
