Besides, in a few years they'll land the #1 pick again and draft the next once-in-a-generation center and watch him walk away, too. At least Dwight was in Orlando longer than his rookie contract.

Yep.

You can choose to go the Nuggets route, trade your superstar for young pieces and hope for the best but probably stuck in a land of mediocrity.

I'd prefer the Cavs route. Blow it up. Tank. Tank so hard. And pray to the ping pong ball gods.

And theres no reason to not go for it this year. I don't buy the bullshit of inevitability of a Heat - Bulls ECF.

This Beasley for J. Richardson talk concerns me more than the D12 drama. I'd rather have JJ Redick in the starting five and all, but I don't know if Beasley is going to help matters.

Well... at least he'll produce more than Big Baby. Ugh, more shades of grey than Mass Effect 3.

J-Rich's contract will get more poisonous as the years go by, Beasley expires next year.

Ughh.....slow?

Lakers and Dallas have two of the oldest/slowest PGs in the league and didn't prepare for Lin at all, so it was up to Fisher and Kidd to play one on one well enough to contain a guy who was a giant question mark and a whole lot faster than them.

Lin isn't doing well anymore because he was completely unknown and not respected by other teams. They know now that he can only drive with one hand now. He needs to work on his left hand and get better at figuring out when to take a shot going to the hole and when to pass out and reset. He takes lots of dumb point blank shots instead of dishing out.

Lakers tried to play him one on one and crowd the paint. Dallas put Marion on him, trapped him, and tried to force him left and he still got back to his right hand. Lin, like any guard that is worth anything, can't be kept from going to their strong hand if they want to go to their strong hand. Today's rules make it this way and that's the reason why the pg position is so deep now. Because pg are usually the best ball handlers and quickest guys on the court. The only way you can stop a good pg from getting into the lane is by packing it with bodies or forcing him to pass the ball, which is where trapping comes into play. So no, the scouts and coaches that get paid millions by teams were prepared for him after he went off in the NJ game. What's slowed him down(and other guys) is Carmelo's return.

If they are keeping dwight (lol at the idea of him staying) anyone who can create a shot is valuable to them even a psycho like Beasley.

Orlando should have just taken the Bynum or Brook+Brooks deal and started rebuilding already.

Yup. Brooks comes cheap and Bynum has a team option next year. And they would have gotten a decent amount of picks with Brook Lopez.

Lopez+Brooks + picks and even Bynum + Ebanks+ Pick is going to look so good to them once Dwight leaves and they get nothing.

Orlando says it will trade Dwight if he doesn't commit to staying at least next year http://es.pn/wgOWzK

he Los Angeles Lakers, meanwhile, are offering Andrew Bynum, Derek Fisher and Metta World Peace (formerly Ron Artest) for Howard, Hedo Turkoglu and Chris Duhon, the sources said. The same sources said there is a holdup with the Lakers in terms of taking on the contracts of Turkoglu and Duhon.

fisher gone?
fucking do it.
now.

That's why I said certain type of knee injuries.

You're also saying that the unlikely/freak nature of his previous injuries are a predictor of the unlikeliness of a future injury, when I'm saying the exact opposite. The nature of how the injury occurred doesn't matter. What's significant is that there is damage in the knee and that alone increases his risk of further injury.

Regarding bracing, an example of what you're saying is that having a brace restricting anterior translation of the tibia on femur will stop any sort of ACL injury. It doesn't. It only aides in preventing the motion, not injury. You seem to have some knowledge of the technology behind bracing, again, even my most experienced orthotic reps will attest to the fact that bracing is present for support and restriction but even the most structured brace won't help if the knee if the leg gets positioned in a position which increases stress to the joint which is likely to happen to a basketball player.

This is key.

Too much weight on those legs.

Seems to be doing ok so far but he may never be out of the woods concerning injuries.

Yeah it certainly is a concern. Whoever is trading for Bynum is looking at him running the hypotheticals of what can happen. I'm not as worried as some people, he's playing good minutes this season but i would be making sure he's doing pt, getting iced, whatever they do to keep those guys as injury free as possible.

Yup for as shitty of a rebounder Lopez is, he's not a bad player and one of about 10 guys who has real post moves in the league.

On a good team Brooks could be a good 6th man scorer + picks.

Bynum would be the clear choice if they thought his knees would hold up.

If they just get cap space odds are they will overpay someone way worse than bynum/lopez.

Earl Watson tore up The Lakers D, you only need to cut to 15-18 feet to make The Lakers collapse enough to dish. Fisher can not defend anymore period. Same goes for Kidd. Marion isn't quick enough laterally to defend a fast PG like Lin, that's just obvious.

Lin has a lot to learn and could improve a ton but he gets forced left and trapped much more consistently now than before, you can't deny this. Even when he gets back to his dominate hand and penetrates he too often settles for contested floaters or fades.

The Magic would also be interested in a Knicks package of Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler, sources say, should the Knicks make such an offer. The Knicks have discussed the deal internally but have been given no indication that Howard would remain with them long term. That being the case, they have thus far refused the temptation to engage Orlando in trade talks.

My next OT title is going to be legendary.

As sad as the whole situation makes me, I'm glad we're "more open" to trading Dwight now. We absolutely have to get something out of him.. not doing so sets us back a decade.

True, but my issue is Beasley's ego about where he'll fit in the rotation. Things are already fucked up with the Magic's morale as it is -- the last thing they need right now is a cray-cray Beasley making matters worse.

I know a good personality doesn't win games, but at least J-Rich isn't a hit to the psyche right now.

His knees are now weaker than they were before the injuries. Would you argue against this? Bynum weighs a ton. He is a big man with two major knee injuries on his resume. The fact that you seriously are arguing its not a big deal is amazing.

They're weaker but they're healthy and that's why it's not a major concern. It would be a major one is he continued to have a lot of knee issues after his surgery, which he doesn't. Being concerned that he might get injuries again is another story. That's really common feeling.

The bolded makes no sense because Marion is the Mavs best perimeter defender and most of the time guards the best perimeter player. They put Marion on him and sent over kidd or whoever to trap him at halfcourt. And Lin still beat them. The only game where Lin has gotten trapped bad is in Miami. Most of the time he dribbles laterally and away from the trap. But intead of making a move towards the lane he looks for melo. Melo who stands on the elbow and forces the team to run the pick and roll farther out than they should have to because he doesn't give a damn.

Fucking bullshit. Why do players always have to win out.

Donnie and D'Antoni were gone the minute Dolan took over and traded for melo. Amar'e would be gone too if Dolan thought he could make it happen.

Now Lin will get benched in favor of Baron because that's what Melo wants. And maybe JR too. Then Lin will walk and blossom into a good starter for another team.

False. marion is effective against sg like bryant, lebron, wade or pierce not pgs.

Lin is much faster than Marion. It's that simple.

Marion guards 3s the majority of the time who generally aren't as fast as Lin. Marion can be their best perimeter defender and still not be able to keep up with a fast pg. It's not that complicated. Just like how Lowry is a good defender against PGs but can't stay with taller 2s because of a height disadvantage.
