NFL Off-Season Thread: "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"

This Peyton Manning coverage is getting ridiculous. The reporter on the NFL Network just said:

"He's been in the building for 23 minutes and 43 seconds."

Neither are legally binding since the NFL makes it's own laws. Redskins know the league makes their owns laws as they signed the document that said their franchise won't sue the league ever. Why wouldn't you listen to those they agreed to give this power to when they tell you 6 times to specifically not do something.

because what the league did is illegal in federal court, NFL has a poor history when it comes to this. The only issue is, will Snyder and Jerry take it there because at the end if the day they may be in the right but what the court decides may have a negative impact on their business The whole cutting off your nose to spite your face metaphor.

Update:

@AdamSchefter: Cowboys sign CB Brandon Carr to a 5-year, $50.1 million deal.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Eric Walton said:
He will have a break-out season with the G-men if they give him the playing time.
I said to Wellington last week that if we do sign him, I'm eager to see how much focus and drive he has being the #1 TE and not being stuck behind Witten. I know he had plenty of playing time and some drops but he's wanted to be a #1 TE so we'll see if latches onto the opportunity. Low cost signing and I like the upside. If he's lazy and doesn't fit, the team loses little.

Good
Rogers resigned- all 11 of our defensive starters are locked in..

Bad
Morgan gone
Blake Constanzo gone

Pending
Snyder visiting the Cards
Ginn meeting with Lions
Brandon "I don't believe in YAC" Lloyd visiting

I'm worried about the Niners losing Snyder....hopefully they get him resigned...

Good news, Lions fans--reports are floating that they're now 15.5 million under the cap and an Avril restructure could free up more.

My sources tell me Manning took a 17 minute long shit when he was visiting the Arizona facility. It's unclear if Manning had tacos or enchiladas the night before.

Free agent center Chris Myers will visit the Tennessee Titans on Thursday, according to Liz Mullen of SportsBusiness Journal.

If Myers does not return to the Texans, it would be a difficult blow to the team. The Texans already cut offensive tackle Eric Winston. To lose two starting lineman would be tough.

Mother F!

Has the NFL said anything to counter that?

NFL doesn't need to say anything to us or the media. they've released their statement and that's all they need to say. they did an investigation and determined that the redskins and cowboys did something wrong so they're being punished. end of story at this point. if more details come out then they do but this is an in-house issue

Skins fans should be happy their front office has the wisdom to give their QB a chance to succeed. Neither of those guys are #1s, but they aren't the garbage that JAX and STL asked their QBs to play with as rookies.

The Rams still have no WRs, and if they were ever going to overpay, it should have been for that position, and not to start building Tennessee West

Rookie WRs rarely make a big impact unless they are top 5 guys. Probably should just draft Richardson and have him and Jackson run it 600 times until the front office addresses the position

Why would Bruce Allen state that they didn't receive anything in writing about the lost $38 Million? How is that possible?

you actually believe the redskins front office? they are fucking idiots and have been for the past decade +. knowing the redskins they probably received many notices and just didn't bother reading the memo

a new contract isn't a restructure

Its essentially a restructured contract because you go from 1 year with a shit ton of money to several years with a shit ton of money spread out. Perhaps restructure is the wrong word, but you know you understood

Also, 50 million for Brandon Carr? What a joke. Some players are getting PAID with no real justification

its like the NFL copied our madden league with some of these ridiculous contracts! remember when livewire paid dunta robinson $15 mil a year? lulz

p.s. peypey is kind of screwing the cards if he doesn't tell them by saturday because they would have to make a decision to cut kolb or not

It was mentioned that Constanzo was let go because he wasn't a good option as a backup ILB, and that the staff wants special teamers who can also contribute elsewhere wherever possible.

Peypey isn't going to the Cards unless they pick up some legitimate linemen. The guy has had 4 neck surgeries, you think he wants to go to a team that goes lol at blocking?

He's a good corner, but he's always been the #2 guy. Either he can be a legitimate #1 or he'll turn out to be like Stanford Routt.

I think he is a dandy corner, but not a 50 million dollar corner. I guess if you are desperate, money is no object, Jerry!

Remember when Livewire got PeyPey and we all eagerly awaited to see how his season played out? lulz

Not really. It isn't tying up enough money to really matter.

i think the niners had a problem paying a special teams only player what costanzo was looking at getting. you look at CJ spillman, who is primarily a special teams player, but filled in nicely at times last year at safety (remember his sweet tackle on the 1 yard line against ray rice to preserve our no-rushing-td streak!?)

sad to see costanzo go but i suppose he just didn't make financial sense. same with giving josh morgan $6 mil a year lolool

actually you know what.... he did have a family emergency and he won't be able to use the team for a while. i promised i wouldn't give them away on a permanent basis but if you wanted to step in for a few games you are welcomed to do so!

You got a thread with scheduled games or whatever?

I think they would have to decide by 4:00 PM ET on Thursday to pay the 7M to Kolb.

I am despite knowing that we are slightly overpaying for a couple of number 2s and 3s. Like you said at least Peirre and Josh Morgan have solid talent along with an aging Santana Moss and a good TE in Fred Davis who caught 59 balls last year for 800 yards.

Jacoby was released!?!

*SPLOOOOOOOOOGGGGGGGGGGGE*

edit- fuck not true :( damn you clutchfans

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the Vikes get another TE.

2 TE set future?

lol WRs are getting stupid money this offseason

Big plays come in the passing game. Think how many times Cam just threw it up for grabs and Smith bailed him out. It blows my mind that the Rams, Browns, and JAX didn't do everything possible to fix the WR issues.

lol WRs are getting stupid money this offseason

The only WR signing that made sense was Megatron's extension. He was scheduled to make 22 mill this season. Next season franchise tag 120% of that and that's 26 million. 46 million over 2 years that's a huge cap hit.
