Deron is pretty terrible defensively, but he's far less terrible on defense than Melo and is legitimately a star on offense (which Melo definitely isn't) so the Knicks would be way better.

The truth is, the anger I feel toward Carmelo is really anger that should be directed at owner James Dolan. If ‘Melo is Paulie, then Dolan, to continue the Godfather analogy, is basically Fredo, if Fredo were twice as stupid and three times as jumpy. I think the Lakers should stop trying to get a good PG...there aren't any PG's available that give the Lakers what they need without gutting their team.

You can dramatically increase your benches scoring ability by adding guys like Nick Young and Beasley with a single TPE/1st rounder and probably get to the finals with that.
