CBS Interactive (GameSpot parent company) buys Giant Bomb

Until I am proven otherwise, I don't see any problem with this. More money for GB to do what they do, if CBS starts clamping down on them then we'll have a problem, but I am more than willing to see how it will play out.
exactly

people need to stop making ignorant uninformed opinions towards things they know nothing about, until we see horrible change it's going to stay the same, just bigger.

more money =/= a bad thing, it's a good thing, it allows them to do bigger things, cover more events in a better way, produce more stuff etc.

Will they be offering a cancelation/refund of their membership? I did not want to support CBS interactive with my money. But I guess they wont be getting it now anyway right?

"This sucks" has been my basic reaction so far, and nothing I've seen has dissuaded me. I really think this is not a good day for GB fans.

I'm confused Jeff is not fired. He's going to talk about why he got fired from GameStop?... not Giant Bomb?

Nobody's leaving? Then I don't care. GOOD FOR GIANT BOMB. I hope that today was the pay day they had been waiting for since starting the site.

Oh I like John, I hope he is.

(Not every show, just once in a while)

I used to like John on podcasts but on Weekend Confirmed it got to the point that he wouldnt talk about anything but casual games. It would be so annoying when they would try and talk about some big game or news and he would steer the conversation back to so shitty iphone game.

Perfect gif

Man, Jeff must be salty about this.

Watching the live stream? Seem quite the contrary... Jeff implied the deal wouldn't have taken place if there weren't certain reassurances made on CBS Interactive's part...maybe the way they run things are different over there, sounded like John D played a major role in it.

He was fired from Gamespot back in 2007. No one has ever officially said why he was fired from there. After he was fired, he started Giant Bomb.

It sounds like very little is changing with Giant Bomb, but they will now have more resources, which is great.

My only concern.

I don't think you're giving him enough credit, I remember him being on Weekend Confirmed last year and talking about Bulletstorm and he really liked it, it was a good discussion. But I agree he does tend to talk up iOS gaming more than necessary.

They can still swear.. Okay FUCK YES I AM In

Dude.. Tested is going to be working with Mythbusters.. THe fucking mythbusters...

I still don't like that "Giantbomb=gamespot" thing..but Ill get over it.

I except Daily videos of the move in, in the office, and Daily videos in the office.

after seeing many great sites rise and then fall after corporate overlords take over I'm very skeptical (N64.com/IGN ->Fox, 1UP - > UGO) I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but rarely have I seen these take overs keep the integrity of the independent sites

Gamespot personalities getting into my Giant Bomb content is a terrifying thought.

Sort of sucks for those of us who aren't Gamespot fans. Oh well, seems like it makes sense business-wise for the guys going forward and that they're confident with this move.

It'll slowly distort and pervert its way into a twisted shell of its former glory.

Admittedly, I'm from GameFAQs.

I have no optimism when the claim is "we'll get plenty of resources to do our thing!" followed by "And our thing is what they say it is!".

I figure we'll have Giant Bomb as we remember it for maybe two, three years tops, before the changes become too blatant for anyone to ignore.

We all know why he was fired though. The Publisher put Gamespot in an arm lock because their advertising dollars went to waste when he gave Kane and Lynch a mediocre review. That is a no-no if your whole entire reason for existence is for Publishers to rely on you as a platform to boost sales with shilled reviews. See IGN for description.
