Demigod, the only ARTS game where there was no rage and its community was cool, all 10 of us :(

I really wish that game was marketed as its own sub-genre of strategy game. I think it would have taken off on its own merit instead of it being pigeonholed as an inferior dota clone.

Bloodline champions looks really interesting...

Just search for a random interview with chinese teams/members.
Dota 1 is more profitable, its more popular in Asia, everyone is extremly conservite and see Dota 2 as a new ARTS game like HoN or LoL.

Recently met an Asian guy at uni that plays dota 1 all the time. I recommended that he tried to get into the dota2 beta and it turns out he didn't even know dota2 existed!

Played a bit this week against bots to try all the characters, my favourites are Shadow Shaman, Dazzle, Witch Doctor and Omniknight.
I don't like carries btw farming is too hard.

The hell is bloodline champions

It's actually not bad. The WoW arena analogy is sound, although mechanics-wise it is obviously more like your average MOBA.

LoL is quite possibly the most boring game to watch on a competitive level, though it would pull in more viewers than BLC does.

Man, no kidding. Even when I was really into LoL I couldn't stand to watch competitive play. Dota 2 hooked me instantly, though. U:

Demigod was a really fun game but it was plagued with bugs and GPG didn't fix all of them. To this day I think the achievements are still borked. The depth of each hero was really cool. I enjoyed the game and hope Demigod 2 comes out someday with proper support. If this game had come out on steam it would have been way more popular.

Eugh, Twitch problems yet again ._.

Not even Twitch feed in 480p is consistently smooth, what the hell *mashes video problem button*

Sounds about the same as my game
In related news, I learned another situation in which Lich is probably not a good pick. Against a pushing lineup is evident, but this instance was much more specific. I was paired with a Spirit Breaker against a Spectre and a Jakiro on top lane. So far so good, I could harass the Spectre heavily and keep her away from last hits, but the snag I should have seen coming was the Lifestealer in the Dire jungle. When he had sufficient mana, he could roam out from behind the nearest bunch of trees, hit me with Open Wounds and pop into Rage, and I'd die without much chance of escaping. It put me into one doozy of a catch-22: if I go across the river and pressure, I'll feed Lifestealer. If I stay back, I'll feed Spectre indirectly.

In hindsight, a much stronger lane combination would have been something like a Dark Seer and Lich, Surge being one of the strongest counters to Open Wounds in the game, and would have lent both of us an excellent escape mechanism. SB had his charge if he got too in over his head, but Lich has no such recourse outside of items like Force Staffs or Ghost Scepters (the rough early game precluded acquiring such until it was far too late). Even going a dual melee SB-DS lane would have been an improvement.

That sounds more like it was a 3v2 as opposed to being lich's weakness. Against jungling gankers all it takes is a ward to repel every gank.

An actual example of lich's weakness is a kill lane. Say CM/Slardar, who can kill him at level 1 before he has any offensive abilities. The key to outlaning lich is to pound him into the ground before he hits lv 3.

I agree, it would have taken off if they had done the netcode correctly the first time. Shame there isn't a demigod 2 so it could have the good start it deserves.

Definitely needed a side-ward (lacked the ability to do so safely given the foresight problem), but the body of the troubles was with Lifestealer and not the other two on-lane, said woes continued well into the mid-game, into teamfights, etc, he was the root cause of nearly all my deaths that game. The slow and magic immunity in one package was just something I was ill-equipped to handle, and the ward problem definitely compounded that vulnerability early. Given the choice in the future, I think I would have preferred a Dark Seer (with a side-ward, ideally), if only for the superb escape ability and the reach with which to keep Spectre away from the creep wave. I'm kinda kicking myself for it, because I've been in suicide lanes with Seer before (with and without Lifestealer in the mix) and still managed to get a ton of harassment and gold out of the situation. Lich was a gut impulse, but I think I passed up one of potentially many stronger laners in that instance. If SB had been a premade, things would naturally have been different, I can only imagine him going Seer himself or something like an Omniknight.

When did Morph suddenly become popular again? I've seen loads of people picking him up and stomping in the last couple of days.

Because I played it in some inhouse games some time ago, then the pros just followed

Two straight patches with buffs, more base agility (damage), adaptive strike cooldown from 20 to 10 and morph granting extra stats, it was always an ok hero but now with the buff it's actually good enough to be picked

Mouz vs Dignitas was the most fun game Ive seen in a long time.

Ganking early/mid game with carry vs carry lategame is so much funnier to watch than these boring pushstrats that finishes in 20 mins.

I heavily recommend getting out of bot games. They're good for the first few rounds as you understand the basics but they don't represent a real matchmaking game by any stretch. I have a friend who has only done bot games since getting in over a month ago and bots are terrible for teaching you poor positioning practices.

Also, allied bots are really dumb.

Get into some matchmaking though. The low tier is populated by a lot of people that don't know what they're doing so it really isn't that bad. Plus, I would love to have some good supports in my game. Everyone seems to pick a carry and proceed to fail all their last hits before throwing themselves into the waiting mouths of the enemy.

I don't know which team is worse, the team where two members of the team have two orb effects or 15+ deaths on the Dire.

7870 it seems (no idea how good it is), 2gd said he recognised my name but no idea if he was just messing about, I was friends with someone he used to cast with though.

I heard your name while they were casting and I wondered if it was you. Good to see you got something out of it!
